Patent number: 7647759Abstract: In a wire-processing device, the wire executes turns through being pulled out of a drum. The leading wire-end is held by a gripper of a loop-former. A wire that has been cut to length is held at its leading and trailing ends by an untwisting unit, the wire having before the untwisting operation a doubled-backed loop. A transfer unit takes the leading and trailing ends from the loop-former and passes the wire to the untwisting unit. After the untwisting operation, the transfer unit feeds the wire-ends to the processing units that process the wire-ends. A bundling unit takes the processed wires from the transfer unit, the bundling unit forming a wire bundle with the wires. With the untwisted wires, the wire bundle has neither doubled-back loops nor knots.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2006Date of Patent: January 19, 2010Assignee: Komax Holding AGInventors: Alfred Braun, Zane Meredith, Werner Bucher

Patent number: 7493746Abstract: An apparatus and method for separating strands of floss, string, thread or yarn from a bundle. One embodiment of an apparatus for separating strands of floss, string, thread or yarn from a bundle that consists of an attachment device (12) with low mass, low moment of inertia and low rotational air resistance that attaches to one end of the bundle (10). The opposing end of the attachment device (12) is connected to a swivel assembly (14). The opposing end of the swivel assembly (14) is attached to a rotational energy absorption device (16) with higher mass, higher moment of inertia and higher rotational air resistance. The rotational energy absorption device (16) is depicted in one embodiment as a bob. Other embodiments are described and shown.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2007Date of Patent: February 24, 2009Assignee: CRZ, Inc.Inventor: Cary Russell Zielinsky

Patent number: 7207167Abstract: A manufacturing process of untwisted yarn. Spun yarn is sized and hit during drying. The yarn is untwisted by being twisted in a reverse direction opposite to the spin direction, and/or further twisted in the reverse direction, to develop a high tensile strength and flexibility.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2003Date of Patent: April 24, 2007Inventor: Kwan-Young Kim

Patent number: 6735933Abstract: A method of controlling twisting in ribbon material fed from a coil of ribbon material into a processing machine. The coil has a central axis perpendicular to a plane of the coil. The method includes pulling ribbon material from the coil in a direction having a twist-promoting axial component relative to the plane of the coil and continuously rotating the coil during the pulling step at a rotational speed greater than zero so that a number of twists in the unwound ribbon is maintained below a predetermined number.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2001Date of Patent: May 18, 2004Assignee: Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc.Inventors: Rodney L. Abba, Robert J. Waldron, Robert J. Makolin

Patent number: 6729026Abstract: Bulges in a wire having helically coiled strands are formed by untwisting the strands in an anti-helical direction at a predetermined position, to form an electrical connector from a length of the stranded wire. The wire is gripped by moving two spaced apart clamp members to a closed position and thereafter rotating the clamp members relative to one another in at least one complete relative revolution in a direction which is anti-helical relative to the coiled strands to form the bulge. The wire is gripped and rotated in the anti-helical direction for a relative rotational interval of greater than one-half, and preferably three-fourths, of a complete relative revolution. Thereafter, during the remaining rotational interval of each relative revolution, the clamp members are opened to permit the wire to be advanced to the next position where a bulge is to be formed.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2001Date of Patent: May 4, 2004Assignee: Medallion Technology, LLCInventors: Steven E. Garcia, James A. Harden, Jr.

Publication number: 20030000197Abstract: The invention provides heat-resistant crimped yarn, of which the constituent heat-resistant high-functional fibers are prevented as much as possible from being deteriorated under heat in the process of producing the yarn. Not losing excellent properties of heat resistance and flame retardancy intrinsic to the heat-resistant high-functional fibers, the crimped yarn has a good elongation percentage in stretch, a good stretch modulus of elasticity and a good appearance, and it fluffs little and releases little dust. The heat-resistant crimped yarn comprises heat-resistant high-functional fibers, and is characterized in that it does not deteriorate under heat, and that its elongation percentage in stretch is at least 6%, its stretch modulus of elasticity is at least 40%, and its tenacity falls between 0.15 and 3.5 N/tex.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 3, 2001Publication date: January 2, 2003Inventors: Mitsuhiko Tanahashi, Kazuhiko Kosuge, Takeshi Hatano, Iori Nakabayashi

Patent number: 6205758Abstract: Yarn is unwound from a reel by means of unwinding rollers. Simultaneously the yarn is untwisted partially to free constituent fibers by means of a rotating arm guiding the yarn through an eye. Nip rollers prevent slack in the untwisted yarn. Drafting rollers draft the untwisted yarn to break bonding among the fibers. A pair of endless belts moving in opposing relation hold the drafted fibers together in a bundle. The fibers are sucked from the bundle via a conduit into a foraminous container from which the fibers can individually be reclaimed for testing.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1999Date of Patent: March 27, 2001Assignee: Technology Finance CorporationInventors: Etienne Weideman, Jaromir Cizek
