    Abstract: A piecing device with an evaluation arrangement for determining parameters of an automatic piecing process at a spinning station (1) of an open-end spinning frame, wherein a control device is provided which, initially in a test phase, controls the creation of at least one test piecing without a supplementary delivery of additional fiber and the subsequent removal of the created test piecing. The evaluation device is designed for determining the length of a thinner extent of the test piecing downstream of the test piecing as viewed in the direction of yarn travel, and for the determination from the detected length of the thinner extent an amount of supplementary delivery of additional fiber required for compensating the thinner extent. A reduction of the draft which is effective during the test phase assures an interference-free checking of the test piecing. The optimization phase for piecings is shortened and leads to a more accurate result when determining the supplementary delivery of additional fiber.

The yarn end E can be guided and retrieved with airflow A1, making use of the Coanda effect along the guiding surface 9. Accordingly, a yarn end can be easily and reliably retrieved using a low-capacity compressor.

    Abstract: A lever (30) is pivotably mounted about ax axis Z on a carrier journal (24) which is pivotable about an axis X and with which electromagnets (46, 48) cooperate. The lever carries a thread-receiving member (20) and is under the effect of a tension spring (42). When the thread is intercepted by the thread-receiving member during the forward rotation of the cop, there follows a deflection of the thread-receiving member, which takes place with the tension spring being tensioned at the same time and which is caused by the thread, on a path approximate to the movement of the traveller on the ring. The tensioned tension spring pivots the thread-receiving member during the paying-out of thread which occurs as a result of the subsequent reverse rotation of the cop. As a result of the intermediate blocking about one of the axes, the thread-receiving member moves on a path lying approximately in a tangential plane relative to the ring.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for sequentially applying suction and auxiliary yarn to a yarn package of a textile spinning machine. The apparatus includes a support assembly which supports a suction applying device as well as an auxiliary yarn length delivery device for simultaneous lateral movement of the two devices toward a tube from which a trailing end of wound yarn is to be drawn. The apparatus also includes a control device for controlling the suction applying device to initially apply suction to the tube for predetermined length of time to thereby draw in a trailing end of wound yarn and, if a trailing end of wound yarn is not drawn in, to control the auxiliary yarn length delivery device to deliver a length of auxiliary yarn onto the tube.

    Abstract: Packages, particularly cross-wound packages are produced directly at a ring spinning frame. In a method and apparatus for making packages a rewinding device is provided for a group of spinning stations. The rewinding device comprises a fixed winding station and a gripping device movable along the group of spinning stations. The rewinding device is able to perform all the manipulations for starting up a spinning process with empty yarn carriers. It is also possible to change the full yarn carriers and mount the empty yarn carriers on a spinning frame, remove thread breaks and carry out spinning following a batch change. Spinning of the individual yarn carriers takes place individually, so that when replacing one yarn carrier, the other spinning stations continue to operate. This leads to a high production rate of the ring spinning frame and simultaneously reduces costs for rewinding compared with known systems.

The air jet operates in cooperation with a suction conduit to completely unwind the unsuccessfully pieced auxiliary yarn length from the yarn package to thereby prepare the yarn package for receiving another length of auxiliary yarn during a subsequent yarn restarting operation.

    Abstract: A broken end piecing up apparatus for ring spinning frames having a servicing assembly propelled along the spinning frame. This servicing assembly comprises a pressurized housing which contains the mechanisms. An optical scanner is provided for detecting the absence of yarn on the corresponding bobbin and provision is made for positioning the apparatus in front of the spindle where the absence of yarn has been detected. The apparatus has a mechanism which then stops the broken end spindle and rotates it in the unwinding direction, withdrawing and picking up this broken end from the bobbin. Then a predetermined length of yarn is pulled out from this bobbin and fed through the corresponding ring traveller. The broken end is cut, combed and fed to the roving issuing from the drafting systems and the piecing up operation of both takes place. Then the servicing assembly moves on to detect a further absence of yarn.
