  • Patent number: 5544828
Abstract: An automatic bobbin-changing device (10) for a winding machine with a vertical winding axis, the device having a bobbin carrier (12) which can rotate about a vertical axis (13) and which can adopt two bobbin-holding positions staggered at an angle of about 180.degree.. The bobbin carrier (12) has a total of four gripper arms (25, 26, 27, 28) which work together in pairs to grip a bobbin (1, 2). On each gripper arm (25, 26, 27, 28) is a bobbin-support surface (29) which, during the bobbin-changing operation, is positioned under the bobbin lower-flange (1b, 2b). The bobbin is changed by lifting the bobbin carrier (12) by means of a lifting mechanism (52, 54, 55) in such a way that the bobbin (1) on the winding machine is lifted off its mounting, the bobbin carrier (12) subsequently being rotated through 180.degree. and lowered again.

  • Patent number: 4936521
Abstract: In a winding machine where material is wound onto a non-rotating spool by a flyer that revolves around the spool, a device for moving, clamping, and releasing the spool moves the spool into position for winding, traverses the spool axially as the flyer rotates around the spool to properly distribute the material on the spool, and moves the spool away from the winding position. The device also clamps the spool as it moves the spool into position for winding and unclamps the spool as it moves the spool away from the winding position.

  • Patent number: 4598540
Abstract: During the cop-forming phase of operation of a ring spinning or twisting machine, yarn is wound onto spools carried by the spindles in order to form cops. At the end of this phase, the yarn associated with each spindle is fastened below the spool by means of several fastening turns; thereafter, the full cops are removed with breakage of the yarns. In order to facilitate the operation of cop-removal means for automatically and simultaneously removing all of the full cops, yarn-severing means are provided that sever the yarns prior to the cop-removal means picking up the full cops. In a preferred embodiment, the yarn-separation means is arranged to snap the yarns by downwardly displacing the members around which the fastening turns are wound.

  • Patent number: 4569191
Abstract: In a widely-used type of ring, spinning or twisting machine, each spindle of the machine is provided at its upper end with a spinning head. This head is engaged by yarn to be wound onto a cop spool carried on the spindle, the yarn passing from the spinning head to the ring traveller associated with that spindle. Due to the engagement of the yarn with the spinning head it is generally not possible to employ known types of automatic cop removal device with such machines. To overcome this problem, cop-raising means are provided which, at the end of each cop-forming process and prior to operation of the cop-removal device, serve to raise the cop spools above the level of the upper ends of the spinning heads whereby to disengage the yarns therefrom. The cop-raising means comprise, for example, a mechanism arranged to displace upwardly the so-called ring nuts associated with each spindle.
