  • Patent number: 5560193
Abstract: When a residual amount R of a roving required to make a bobbin full at a desired stopping position A of the bobbin rail which moves upwardly is smaller than the amount (4.times.L) corresponding to remaining four layers of the roving for a normal winding process, a desired amount Q is calculated as the residual amount R divided by 4. The switching of the roving during the downward movement of the bobbin rail is done when the amount of the roving from the top end of the bobbin rail is equal to the desired spinning amount Q. This operation is repeated until a full bobbin amount is detected by an encoder, and the flyer frame is stopped.

  • Patent number: 5463557
Abstract: A data base used for determining the amount of decrease in the bobbin rotational speed that corresponds to an increase in the number of roving layers, along with silver weight, fiber kind, the number of revolutions of a flyer and the number of laps over presser, etc. as variables, is stored in a program memory. Based on roving conditions entered through an input unit and the data base stored in the program memory, a CPU calculates the amount of decrease of the bobbin rotational speed that corresponds to the increase in the number of sliver layers. With a control signal output from the CPU in response to the increase in the number of sliver layers, a wind-up motor is controlled to slow down so that the bobbin rotational speed is gradually reduced by a predetermined amount. The bobbin rotational speed is also controlled depending on the sliver position between a front roller and a flyer top.

  • Patent number: 4698957
Abstract: A method of controlling a roving frame to produce good quality results with fewer procedural interruptions and without knowing precise parameters of the textile material being processed. To this end, optimum roving tension during the laying down of each roving layer on a bobbin is successively determined from nominal values for bobbin rotational speed based on only a one-time estimate of material parameters.

  • Patent number: 4551969
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the roving winding speed in a roving frame, in which a roving position detecting unit detects central positions of vibration of the roving in the vertical direction while suspended between a front roller of the drafting device and a flyer top by means of a plurality of photoelectric sensors. An average central vertical position of the vibrating roving is computed from the values measured by the roving position detecting unit, and a correction amount of the rotation speed of a bobbin is computed from the difference between the average central position and a desired value for controlling the roving winding speed and from a correction coefficient. A correction signal is generated corresponding to the correction amount, and the rotation speed of the bobbin is regulated based on the correction signal.

  • Patent number: 4467592
Abstract: Described is a bobbin lead roving machine in which target r.p.m. values for the bobbin are found in advance for each of arbitrarily selected numbers of the layers of the roving taken up on the bobbin and are stored in a micro-compouter, there r.p.m. values are compared to actual r.p.m. values for respective ones of said arbitrarily numbers of the layers, and compensation is made automatically for any offsets resulting from such comparison for causing the r.p.m. of the bobbin to be within a control limit, in a manner that the take-up tension placed on the roving is kept constant during spinning since the beginning until the end of winding on the bobbin for producing the roving of uniform weight (with a constant weight/unit length).

  • Patent number: 4467593
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for automatically controlling the winding tension of the roving in a bobbin lead roving machine is disclosed. The mean bobbin winding diameter D.sub.B, bobbin r.p.m. N.sub.B and the flyer r.p.m. N.sub.F are measured automatically for one or more operating spindles, and a mathematical equation (N.sub.B /N.sub.F -1).times.D.sub.B =K representative of winding conditions for the roving is solved by automatic operation based upon the above measured values. When the value K thus obtained exceeds a preset control limit, the bobbin r.p.m. is decreased or increased automatically for correcting the value K towards its central setting for automatically correcting the winding tension of the roving.

  • Patent number: 4409785
Abstract: The slack of a rove is actually developed by a time difference between the time point at which the rove is supplied simultaneously with the pushing down of a start button of a flyer frame, and the time point at which the winding of the rove commences after the presser has been pressed against the bobbin. The removing of the rove slack must be performed before the flyer frame attains its normal high speed operation. On the basis of this knowledge, the method according to this invention includes operating the flyer frame at a relatively low speed for a predetermined time period before the flyer frame is rotated at its normal high speed. During this time period, any slack of the rove can be removed.

  • Patent number: 4370850
Abstract: Tension is reduced in the unwound length of roving remaining between the drafting mechanism and the package after the frame has been brought to a halt. This can be done by additional feed from the drafting mechanism after stopping of the other elements of the frame. A tension adjusting means is coupled into the drive to the rollers of the drafting mechanism to advance the mechanism the desired amount. The degree of feed may be different depending upon whether the stoppage is due to a break at one of a group of flyers, or to a doffing operation.
