The initial partially formed chain is further wound around a mandrel and heated. During heating, the portions of the initial partially formed chain are being set into the shape of the mandrel while wire portions are prevented from displacing relative to one another. This final shaped spiral is then cut into individual links which are then formed into the jewelry product.

    Abstract: A sliding-type faster for accessary chain has a hollow sphere having a pair of through holes, an elastic disk having a hole provided in the hollow sphere, and an accessary chain that slides into the through hole of the elastic disk. The outer diameter of the elastic disk for inserting the accessory chain is smaller than the inner diameter of the hollow sphere so that the outer surface of the elastic disk does not press tightly against the inner wall surface of the hollow sphere. Material such as polyurethane having high elasticity can be used for the elastic disk. The elastic disk can easily be installed in the hollow sphere by pressing or rolling it into a ball. Because of its increased thickness, the elastic disk will not slip out from the hollow sphere and achieve a long life.

In another embodiment, the outer periphery of non-contoured links are individually contoured prior to the intertwining of such links to form actual rope chains. In another embodiment, individual links are collectively contoured, preferably after arrangement on a support such as a mandril. Such contouring can be accomplished by hand, machine or the like.
