Abstract: A link assembly has a first link with an inner major surface and an opposite outer major surface, and a second link releasably engageable with the first link. The first link has two locking pins and two control pins, movable simultaneously with each other. When the first link engages the second link, the control pins move between locking and unlocked positions. When the control pins are in the locking positions, part of each locking pin is received within a respective hole of the second link to prevent disengagement of the first link from the second link. When the control pins are in the unlocked positions, the locking pins are clear of the holes to disengage the first link from the second link. Each control pin extends through a respective opening of the first link inner major surface. A spring biases the locking pins away from each other.

  • Patent number: 8156759
Abstract: The present invention particularly relates to a novel type of hinge to be used for sequentially interconnecting different elemental jewelry units of a jewelry item. Type of hinge constructions used in jewelry making of prior art do not permit the jewelry item to retain during use its appropriate shape which is required for bringing out beauty value of the jewelry item like the diamond-studded necklace. The necklace may present itself as an ordinary metal chain, which, as if, “falls down loose”, giving a U-shape or any other unplanned shape. Hinge-construction of prior art does not restrict movement of different elemental jewelry units in different unplanned directions. The difficulty becomes more pronounced when very small size diamonds are used in the necklace. The novel type of hinge of the present invention provides two mating pairs for each elemental jewelry units permit each unit to have predetermined appropriate amounts of clockwise and anticlockwise rotational motions.

  • Patent number: 6619024
Abstract: A jewelry link made from square crossectional metal wire has a C-shape when the link is bent within a specially configured clamp over a mandrel, wherein the formed C-shaped links are diamond shaped in cross section. The links further have an outer circumference at their widest point formed by one of the four corner seams of a hollow or solid square wire, which is rotated 45 degrees onto one of its straight longitudinally extending edges before being bent around a mandrel. In that manner, the link is considerably wider than a link formed from square wire which is wrapped upon one of its surfaces over a mandrel.

  • Patent number: 6560955
Abstract: A decorative rope chain and a manufacturing process to produce a rope chain in which each link element used as a basic building element exhibits a unique visual property, such as surface texture, coloration, attribute, feature, characteristic, shape or other physical appearance. Such unique visual property traits for the succession of link elements results in a more attractive, fanciful, more delicate and interesting fashion item. Each of the interconnected link elements may have a first major surface exhibiting a first visual property and an opposite second major surface exhibiting a second, perceptively different, visual property. In other aspects of the invention, the major surfaces of the link elements may have differently colored or textured surface portions. In yet another aspect of the invention, each link element may have differently shaped portions. Similarly, the interior and/or exterior edges of the link element may exhibit different shapes, colors, patterns, or textures.
