  • Patent number: 9801770
Abstract: A method and system tilts an infant-care medical device. In one example, the method and system pivots the infant-care device about the tilt axis by releasing a tilt platform of the infant-care medical device using an actuator to allow the tilt platform to pivot about the tilt axis. The method and system also selectively adjusts a rotational position of the tilt platform relative to a tilt axis. As the tilt platform pivots about the tilt axis, the system and method dampens pivoting of tilt platform using a damper. As so dampened, the pivoting of the tilt platform is counter-balanced such that vibration and/or movements that may be felt by an infant within the infant-care medical device may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 8821368
Abstract: An apparatus and method for performing warming therapy is described. In one exemplary embodiment, the apparatus includes a base for supporting a medical patient and a humidifier module removably coupled to the base. The humidifier module may include a main reservoir and an evaporator reservoir separated by a channel. Both the main and evaporator reservoirs may be protected by a cover, which may be made removable. The design of the humidifier module is such that the component parts thereof may be easily removed, so that the reservoir body including the main reservoir and the evaporator reservoir may be easily cleaned, such as through use of an autoclave.

Abstract: Monitoring of infants in an incubator may use cameras to measure vital signs and other medical parameters, including oxygen saturation of arterial blood. However, the images obtained by these cameras suffer from a reduced signal-to-noise ratio due to specular reflectance from light reflecting off the skin of the infant. By including radiation scattering structures within the incubator walls and light sources arranged along the edges of the incubator walls, diffuse illumination may be achieved, specular reflectance may be reduced, and the above-mentioned adverse affects on the signal-to-noise ratio of the camera images may be avoided and/or reduced.

Abstract: An incubator (12) includes an incubator hood (11) with two side walls (2, 3), a front wall (4), a rear wall (5) and preferably an upper wall (6), which have each inner and outer surfaces. One or more of the inner and/or outer surfaces of one or more of the walls (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) of the incubator hood are provided with a coating. The coating is electrically conductive and essentially optically transparent. The electrical conductivity of the coating is designed to heat the coated walls, similarly to a resistance heater, to a desired temperature by applying an electric voltage in order to prevent thereby water of condensation from forming. The coating is essentially scratch resistant.
