Abstract: Dental treatment instrument adaptable to a pulsed liquid generator constituted by a handpiece comprising a compressible tube (13) at least one section of which is accessible to a compression element (20), said compressible tube establishing fluid communication between an irrigation liquid feed and an irrigation liquid outlet (3) which is either an irrigation catheter (10), or an attachment system (15, 17), of such a catheter and dental treatment apparatus provided with such an instrument.

Abstract: Large-diameter cylindrical portion (3) is formed in water passage (2) of a water-spraying nozzle (1) in the vicinity of the tip portion of said nozzle. Piston (5) which is housed in aforementioned cylindrical portion (3) is driven in a reciprocating manner, so that the tip portion of bristle bundle (4) which is implanted in the front surface of aforementioned piston (5) is caused to move in and out via water-spraying opening (6) located at the tip of aforementioned nozzle (1).

Abstract: A dental hygiene device has a brush assembly and a control unit. The brush assembly has a handle with suction and irrigation conduits passing therethrough. A brush head has two or more parallel rows of bristles. Suction and irrigation ports are positioned between the rows and coupled to the suction and irrigation conduits. Suction and irrigation tubes are coupled to the suction and irrigation conduits. The control unit has an irrigation outlet coupled to the irrigation tube and an irrigation pump, and a supply reservoir coupled to the irrigation pump. The supply reservoir contains a dental hygiene solution that is pumped from the supply reservoir through the irrigation outlet into the irrigation tube. The irrigation tube transmits the solution to the irrigation conduit and then to the irrigation port, where it is expelled. A suction inlet is coupled to the suction tube, and a suction pump is coupled to the suction inlet.

Abstract: In order to take care of the oral hygiene needs of aged or infirm patients in health care facilities, or the like, a relatively small, compact, self-contained device can be carried by a lay operator from room to room. Fresh water in one container carried on the device is replenished from each room's fresh water faucet and waste water in another container is disposed of in the room's sink. Each patient has an individual tooth brush adapted to engage a handle connected by flexible tubing to the portable device and suitable switches enable the operator to control the operation of electrically actuated components effective to discharge fresh water through the bristles of the brush and vacuum waste water from the vicinity of the brush tip end. Particular care is built into the design of the unit to prevent cross-contamination and electrical shock hazard.

Abstract: The invention relates to toothbrushes and particularly with toothbrushes for bedridden patients. Cleaning of the teeth of bedridden patients is particularly difficult and especially the rinsing of the mouth. It is an object of the present invention to provide a toothbrush that overcomes this difficulty, an objective that is met by a construction comprising a bristled head and a handle, there being a fluid supply associated with the handle and having an outlet emerging in the bristles on the toothbrush head, the fluid supply being connectable to a source of fluid, and there being a separate fluid disposal associated with the handle having an inlet associated with the bristles on the toothbrush head and to direct spent fluid away from the bristle head.

Abstract: An oral hygiene appliance includes a base on which upstands a cabinet having top, front and rear vertical walls. A pair of recesses are formed in either side of that front wall. A plurality of seats within those recesses are each receptive of a jet tip. An inlet is defined in the top wall. A cover is shaped to envelope the cabinet over the recesses and the inlet with the cover being invertable to serve as a reservoir. Disposed within the cabinet is a pump responsive to a pressure control for delivering water received from the inlet.Seated toward one end of the base is the lower end of an elongated electric toothbrush body. Individual brushes are seated in the base around the body and those brushes ordinarily to the rear of the body are elevated on a pedestal. At the opposite end of the base is a well in which is seated the lower end of a handle in which a faceted lower end of one of the jet tips may be captivated.

The end may be either a movable one carrying a toothbrush or a fixed one (11) consisting of a nozzle designed to emit a pulsed jet of water generated by a pump fitted in the body (10). The movable end is designed to be given a linear and pivoting alternating movement by a drive mechanism (15) actuated by a motor (16) fitted inside the body (10).
