Slide Or Reciprocating Valve Patents (Class 604/249)
  • Patent number: 11957851
Abstract: A catheter for guiding a body fluid of a subject includes an elongated body, an adjusting mechanism, and a valve mechanism. Moreover, the elongated body further includes a first portion, a second portion and a flexible portion between the first and the second portions. The second portion includes a passageway for the body liquid. The valve mechanism closes to the inlet of the passageway. Furthermore, the flexible portion expands when the adjusting mechanism is in a first state to prevent the catheter from being removed from the subject, and the flexible portion retracts when the adjusting mechanism alters to a second state to allow the catheter to be removed from or inserted into the subject. Hence, the body fluid is directed to enter the passageway via the inlet and exit via the outlet when the adjusting mechanism is not in the second state.

Abstract: A sealing device for a medication vial which is highly efficient and easy to use. The sealing device comprises a valve and a compressible stopper. Fitted vertically on top the valve and stopper is a coupling portion. When a syringe is coupled to the sealing device, the syringe compresses the stopper which in turn exposes an aperture defined in a central neck portion of the valve. As medication is withdrawn from the vial, the medication enters the valve and travels through the central neck where it then exits through its open apertures and subsequently into the syringe itself. As the syringe is withdrawn, the stopper is allowed to expand or relax which again closes the apertures defined within the central neck of the valve, thereby ceasing the flow of medication through the sealing device.

  • Patent number: 9174029
Abstract: A needle assembly with a needle shield is disclosed. The shield includes a lumen slidable on the needle, a holder and a needle blocking object which moves at least partially into the lumen in order to block distal movement of the needle. A spring biases the blocking object towards the needle axis. Proximal movement of the needle relative to the shield is limited by a restraint in the form of a discontinuity on the needle which abuts the shield, a tether or a tube abutting the needle hub. When the needle shield moves from a non-shielding position to a shielding position, the needle blocking object moves at least partially into the lumen. The needle blocking object is radially and axially constrained in the shielding position. The holder also prevents radial, longitudinal and circumferential movement of the blocking object. In one embodiment, the needle blocking object is a ball. A catheter adapter and tube may be threaded over the needle.
