Abstract: Collapsible orthopedic fixation assemblies and related methods are disclosed. A collapsible fixation assembly includes end frames that are coupled with one or more cross beams. The fixation assembly is reconfigurable between a collapsed configuration in which the end frames are substantially aligned with the one or more cross beams and a deployed configuration in which the end frames are oriented transverse to the one or more cross beams and in which relative movement between the end frames and the one or more cross beams can be inhibited. The fixation assembly is configured to support at least one bone-interface component, which is configured to constrain a bone of a patient. In the collapsed configuration, the fixation assemblies is more compact than in the deployed configuration, thereby making it more easy to store and transport as compared to a comparable non-collapsible fixation assembly.

Abstract: The present invention provides a clamp assembly which allows the surgeon to snap a bone fixation assembly onto a bone fixation rod at an intermediate location along the length of the rod. It is not necessary to “thread” the clamp onto the rod starting at the end and sliding it down the length of the rod to the desired location. In particular, this invention provides a novel clamp assembly for use with standard bone fixation rods, and bone pins. The clamp allows the interconnection of a bone fixation rod with a bone pin locking assembly including a bone pin vise. The clamp is a single-piece construction, having a jaw capable of loosely capturing the bone fixation rod when the surgeon presses the jaw onto the rod. The assembly may be rigidly fixed to the rod using a bolt which tightens the jaw onto the rod.

Abstract: A method of correcting a bone deformity includes fixing first and second support members to first and second fragments of a bone, respectively. The first support member may have a receiver connected thereto. First and second tracking devices are connected to the first and second bone fragments, respectively. A deformity correction plan is determined, and a position of the first support member is adjusted relative to the second support member based on the plan. Location data is transmitted from the first and second trackers to the receiver. Based on the tracker location data, a real position of the first and second bone fragments is determined. The real position of the first and second bone fragment is compared to the deformity correction plan, and the deformity correction plan is reprogrammed based on the comparison. The first and second support members may then be adjusted based on the reprogrammed deformity correction plan.
