Once sharpened, the pencil will be in the users dominate hand and the device will be in the uses non-dominate hand which is conducive to common layout and marking operations.

The carabiner assembly comprises a first leg having a selectively openable gate assembly, the first leg extending from a first section of the body portion. A second leg extends from a second section of the body portion and a third leg extends between and connects the first and second legs, wherein the first, second and third legs of the carabiner assembly define another opening. The carabiner assembly can also have only two legs.
