Abstract: A stanchion surrounding assembly includes a first plate that has a first recess integrated into a first engaging edge of the first plate. The first recess accommodates a stanchion to inhibit vegetation from growing around the stanchion. A second plate has a second recess integrated into a second engaging edge of the second plate. The second recess accommodates the stanchion to inhibit vegetation from growing around the stanchion. The second plate engages the first plate when the first plate and the second plate are positioned against the stanchion. In this way each of the first plate and the second plate forms a disk surrounding the stanchion.

  • Patent number: 8201858
Abstract: A locking system for a stop button employed in a mortise lock having a spindle for operating a latch utilizing a first spindle base and a second spindle base which are nested relative to one another. Each base includes an opening for the mortise lock spindle such that the spindle may enter the combined first and second bases from the left side or the right side. A locking hub overrides either the first or second base and is capable of selectively lying over either the first or second base. An abutment linked to the stop button interacts with the locking hub such that either the first or second base may not be turned by the spindle when this occurs. Locking hub selectively locks either the first or second base through its position relative to the same and allows the mortise lock to easily transform from a left-hand version to a right-hand version.

  • Patent number: 4257193
Abstract: A device is disclosed for locking a grate or the like to its receiving frame to make difficult the removal of the grate by an unauthorized person utilizing a makeshift tool. The locking device has a spring loaded latching pin carried by supports secured to the grate. The shoulders provided by either a necked portion of the latching pin or by a flange on the latching pin serve to prevent the unlatching of the latching pin against the biasing of the spring by the use of a makeshift tool. In some embodiments the shoulders are inclined at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the latching pin to encourage the slippage of a makeshift tool off from said shoulders to thereby prevent the unlatching of the pin by an unauthorized person using a makeshift tool. In some embodiments, the unlatching hole in the grate is offset from the locking device to prevent the inspection of the locking device by an unauthorized person seeking to discover the manner of operation of the locking device.

  • Patent number: 4231597
Abstract: A flush mountable door lock includes a recessed body member, a lock bolt slidably mounted on the body member, and a paddle-shaped operating handle for moving the bolt. The handle is movable between nested and projected positions. A bolt actuator extends from the handle into a receiving formation provided on the bolt for drivingly interconnecting the handle and the bolt to effect retracting and extending movements of the bolt when the handle is moved toward its projected and retracted positions. A torsion coil spring is interposed between the body member and the handle, and serves the several functions of biasing the handle toward its nested position, maintaining play-free engagement between the handle and the body member when the handle is nested, and maintaining a play-free driving connection between the handle and the bolt when the handle is projected.

  • Patent number: 3999411
Abstract: Lock knob control mechanism comprising a three-piece cam assembly made up of a central cam actuator and two outside knob guides that may be selectively assembled to make the two knobs at opposite sides of a door active or inactive. An inactive knob guide makes its knob nonrotatable. An active knob guide cooperates with the central cam actuator and a locking pawl that prevents rotation of its knob but may be rendered inoperative electrically from a remote point by authorized personnel or mechanically in response to actuation of the key for that lock. The knob control also includes a retainer for securing a knob in place on the door which can be released only when the door is open, with a rose for the knob secured to the door by screws that are covered by the knob so that with the door closed there are no visible means for removing the knob.
