  • Patent number: 8667820
Abstract: A lock mechanism for manually or automatically fixing a slide bar in either of two positions. A lock body has a key barrel adapted to rotate a lock cam in a first rotational direction. A latch is biased in a closed position, the latch being adapted to move to an open position when the lock cam is rotated in the first rotational direction. A slide bar is fixable in a locked position and an unlocked position, wherein the slide bar is biased in the unlocked position. A knob slider is adapted to move the slide bar into the locked position such that the latch moves to the closed position and engages a notch of the slide bar to fix the slide bar in the locked position. A servo motor is adapted to rotate a servo cam in a second rotational direction to move the slide bar into the locked position, and is adapted to rotate the lock cam in the first rotational direction to move the slide bar into the unlocked position.

  • Publication number: 20110308285
Abstract: An electromechanical cylinder lock includes an outer lock shell and a rotatable lock barrel located therein which is controlled by dual locking features. A side bar or fence selectively blocks and permits rotation of the barrel with respect to the shell in response to insertion of a key into a keyway in the barrel. A slider bar is movable between a blocking position in which the side bar is prevented from permitting rotation of the barrel, and an unblocking position in which the side bar permits rotation of the barrel. Alternately, a blocking mechanism is provided to block motion of tumbler pins in the cylinder lock. A shape memory alloy actuator, such as a wire made of nitinol, disposed in the barrel is activated by an electric current in response to determination by an electronic control device whether an attempt to open the lock is authorized. Thermal interlock protection from external heating of the lock is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6601418
Abstract: An improved structure of electric lock disclosed herein employs only one electromagnetic coil and a DC power source formed of 4 3A-type dry battery unit for operating the lock instead of using two coils and an AC large power source along with a clumsy conductor layout, and a skilful arrangement of mutual positions between the driven rod and the extended portion of the actuated rod can produce an amplified driving torque effect from this minimized DC power source. Besides, the key function is controlled by a coded chip attached thereon to identify the visitor.

  • Patent number: 4634155
Abstract: An improved door locking and monitoring assembly is provided which is power activated. The assembly comprises a housing disposable in a door frame and defining a passageway which has a bolt slidably disposed therein and lockset means in the door member. A lever is pivoted in the housing. The lever is L-shaped, with a spring biased vertical arm below it. The rear of the latter is urgeable upwardly by a ball to pivot the lever and move the bolt forward into the locked position. The ball is urgeable upwardly by a solenoid actuated plunger. The biased L-shaped arm has the arms thereof pivoted allowing relative angular movement. An extension on one of the arms is forced into an opening in the housing when the bolt is fully extended to lock-set the bolt. When the bolt moves into the locked position, a member on its rear end closes a powered switch to signal this condition.

  • Patent number: 4021065
Abstract: An electric lock of a configuration to facilitate its mounting in the limited space of a conventional door structure or door frame structure, in which an actuating solenoid for the bolt is mounted so that its plunger will have an axis of movement in right-angled relation to the axis of movement of the lock bolt. In one embodiment, the lock includes a detent switch operable upon door closure to energize the solenoid for actuation of the bolt to a locking position. In another embodiment, the lock has an associated deadlock which operates automatically to lock the bolt in locking position, and is operable to a non-deadlocking position in response to energization of an associated solenoid. In still another embodiment of the lock, the bolt is normally spring-urged to a locking position, and the bolt actuating solenoid must be energized to maintain the bolt in a retracted non-locking position.
