Movable Selector Patents (Class 70/305)
  • Publication number: 20120216584
Abstract: The present disclosure describes rotary-style combination locks and associated methods of manufacture and use. In one embodiment, a lock includes a locking member movable between locked and unlocked configurations with respect to a housing and a dial having characters around the circumference that align with an indicator to enter the lock's combination. The lock can include combination discs having tabs oriented thereon that allow the lock to have a predefined combination including adjacent characters on the dial.

  • Patent number: 8037724
Abstract: A combination lock comprises a bolt which is withdrawn by depressing a bolt pin which is shielded by rotating discs having a movable disc pin within them. A selector pin attached to a dial is provided for engaging in selector holes in the discs and aligning the disc pins with one another and with the bolt pin, with provision for pushing inwardly the disc pin on the outer disc and urging the other disc pins aligned therewith towards the bolt pin such that it is depressed and/or withdrawn. The discs have a weight attached at their circumference such that, during code setting, changing the position of the weight changes the relative angular position of the disc pin. When pressure is released from the mechanism, springs return the selector pin and the disc pins to their original positions and the weights on the discs fall, thereby rotating the discs and automatically scrambling the code.

  • Patent number: 7383708
Abstract: A lock cylinder assembly has a base, multiple selecting disks and multiple disk sets. The base has an axis. The selecting disks are rotatably connected to the base along the axis of the base. The disk sets are operationally mounted along the axis of the base and are respectively connected to the selecting disks. Each disk set has multiple disks operationally mounted along the axis of the base. Accordingly, a lock cylinder assembly that can increase the difficulty of unlocking the lock cylinder assembly to improve the safety of using the lock cylinder assembly is provided.

  • Patent number: 6718803
Abstract: A combination lock comprising a housing, a locking bolt and a locking breach, at least one locking assembly rotatably supported within the housing and comprising a disc member formed with a peripheral recess, a cam wheel and a reset cam. A locking member is formed with at least one locking lug angularly displaceable between an un-locked position in which all the looking lugs engage within the peripheral recess of the disc members and where the locking breach is disengaged from the locking bolt, and a locked position in which at least one of the locking lugs is disengaged from the peripheral recess, where the locking breach arrests the locking bolt. A planarly displaceable manipulating member comprises at least one follower corresponding with each cam wheel. A reset mechanism is provided for rotating all disc members into a reset position.

  • Patent number: 6575004
Abstract: A combination lock system comprising a set of push-buttons, a set of series of coders each of which series is associated with a push-button, incrementing means for placing the coders of each series successively in a position to be operated by a push-button, coding means for selecting some coders and placing them in a coding position, and means for returning the coders to a waiting configuration after the push-buttons are actuated. The system comprises means for authorizing two actuation strokes of the push-buttons, namely a normal stroke commanding movement of a coder which is part of the code between its coding position and an unlocking position and a coding travel moving a coder from its inactive position to its coding position. For entering a new coded combination, the system further comprises means for placing all the coders in the inactive position and authorizing actuation of the push-buttons over the coding stroke.

  • Patent number: 6026665
Abstract: The present invention provides new door lock combination chambers for use with door locks, particularly pushbutton door locks. The combination chamber includes rotary keys which are actuated by pressing pushbuttons when entering an unlocking code into the combination chamber. The rotary keys rotate and engage idler gears which are engaged with a timing gear and code gears. The code gears have pockets which become aligned with an unlocking slide when the proper unlocking combination is entered into the combination chamber. The unlocking slide can be slide into the pockets on the code gears, and thus allow a corresponding locking mechanism retract a latch bolt in a door.

  • Patent number: 4841759
Abstract: A fast opening, high security combination lock includes a case, a dial connected to a rotatable spindle, and a plurality of rotatable tumblers mounted coaxially therewith. A movable impeller mounted on said spindle is carried by internal projections in the case to engage the tumblers in sequence as the dial is turned through a series of partial clockwise turns to combination characters and returns to a set mark. After setting the tumblers, the impeller engages a driver which, if all of the tumblers have been properly set, retracts a bolt. The impeller is reset to its initial position on the spindle and the tumblers are scattered to secure the lock, by rotating the dial one-half turn anti-clockwise.

  • Patent number: 4732020
Abstract: The invention relates to a lock with interchangeable coded combinations, wherein the code is materialized by notches made in a disc. Reproduction of the exact code controls the disc so that a locking member is not displaced from its unlocking position. Furthermore, a locking member is in unlocking position only if the number of the digits of the code is respected. The invention is particularly applicable to the safeguarding of property.

  • Patent number: 4014191
Abstract: The combination lock disclosed has a plurality of disc-shaped tumblers mounted side-by-side for individual relative rotation around a common axis. A cylindrical member or drum having a plurality of lugs thereon is located adjacent the outer periphery of the tumblers for movement by a dial around the axis of rotation of the tumblers and for rotation on its longitudinal axis. A ratchet rotates the drum on its longitudinal axis a portion of a revolution each time the dial is returned to a selected position. Each tumbler has a protrusion on its periphery that when engaged by a lug on the drum will cause the tumbler to be rotated with the drum as the drum is moved around the axis of rotation of the tumbler by a dial. The lugs are arranged on the drum so that in one position of the drum the dial will move all of the tumblers to a preselected relative position. An audible or visible signal indicates that the lugs are in this position.

  • Patent number: 4011742
Abstract: A lock device comprises a latch bolt assembly movably mounted for movement from a closed position to a open position. A combination lock system is operatively connected to the latch bolt for retentively engaging the latch bolt against movement to its open position, and for releasing the latch bolt assembly in response to a predetermined rotational movement of a dial on the lock mechanism. A handle or knob is operatively connected to the latch for opening the latch whenever the lock mechanism has released the latch. A reset mechanism is connected to the knob and also engages the lock mechanism so as to reset the lock mechanism each time the handle opens the latch whereby the lock mechanism will automatically move into retentive engagement with the latch bolt after the latch bolt has been opened.
