Patent number: 11476621Abstract: Connection assemblies are disclosed herein for use with a computing device. In some examples, the connection assembly includes a collar that is rotatably disposed about a first connector and is transitionable between a first position and a second position. When the collar is in the first position, shoulders of a second connector coupled to the first connector interfere with corresponding shoulders within the collar to prevent withdrawal of the second connector from the first connector. When the collar is in the second position, the shoulders of the second connector are misaligned with the corresponding shoulders within the collar so that the second connector is freely removable from the first connector.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2018Date of Patent: October 18, 2022Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Philip Moon, Marcus Townsend

Patent number: 6523373Abstract: A lock is designed to prevent theft of a notebook computer and is formed of a housing, a metal fastening, a locking mechanism, and a retaining mechanism. The locking mechanism includes an arresting bolt with a conical tip and a dial block. The retaining mechanism includes a retaining bolt with an inclined surface, which is pushed by the conical tip of the arresting bolt such that a hooked end of the retaining bolt is engaged with a T-shaped slot of the notebook computer at such time when the wheels of the locking mechanism are turned randomly. When the wheels of the locking mechanism are turned to a set series of numbers, the conical tip of the arresting bolt moves away from the inclined surface of the retaining bolt, thereby resulting in disengagement of the hooked end of the retaining bolt with the T-shaped slot of the notebook computer.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2002Date of Patent: February 25, 2003Assignee: Tai Luer Industry Corp.Inventor: Shun-Chang Su

Patent number: 6449992Abstract: A combination lock device includes a lock body, a lock snap structure locked in a lock hole of an article to be locked, and a drive structure for driving the lock snap structure. The lock snap structure includes a carrier, a first locking plate, and a second locking plate. The first locking plate is pivotally mounted in the carrier and may be vertically pivoted by the drive structure. The second locking plate may horizontally slide and displace relative to the first locking plate when the first locking plate is pivoted. The first locking plate has an end portion provided with a locking tongue portion. The second locking plate has an end portion provided with a resting snap portion. The locking tongue portion is vertical to the resting snap portion.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2001Date of Patent: September 17, 2002Inventors: Chun Te Yu, Ming Chang Shih

Patent number: 6122945Abstract: A new keyless door knob security device with stabilizer arm for preventing access to a keyhole of a door knob to prevent unauthorized access. The inventive device includes a central shaft that has first and second ends and a longitudinal axis extending between the ends. A claw ring has a plurality of claws extending outwardly from it and an aperture through it. The central shaft extends through the aperture of the claw ring. The claws are adapted for grasping the door knob. A cover is slidably positionable along the central shaft such that sliding the cover in a first direction presses the claws towards each other such that the claws grasp the door knob. Sliding the cover in a second direction permits the claws to move apart from each other. A locking mechanism permits selective locking of the cover in a locked orientation and an unlocked orientation.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 1999Date of Patent: September 26, 2000Inventor: Jackie N. Patent number: 5706287Abstract: A communications system is disclosed for switching connected communications terminal devices includes a central module including a processor-controlled base unit and a supplementary unit as well as at least one peripheral subscriber module and up to four subscriber transmission units. The peripheral subscriber modules and the subscriber transmission units allow the connection of communications terminal devices or, alternatively, the connection to public communications networks is possible. A switching element implemented in the base unit supports an ISDN-oriented interface to which up to four particularly low-cost subscriber transmission units may be connected. A small or mid-sized communications system having a modular construction can thereby be designed in such a fashion as to be expandable at the lowest expense while allowing flexibility of configuration.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1996Date of Patent: January 6, 1998Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventor: Ulrich Leimkoetter

Patent number: 4747282Abstract: The keyway of an automobile ignition lock can be protected by a key-shaped element which is secured by a combination lock to substantially preclude tampering with the automobile ignition lock. The guard device can be removed from the ignition lock keyway upon setting of the combination lock dials to the release position, and the regular ignition key can then be used with the ignition lock.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 1987Date of Patent: May 31, 1988Inventor: Albert S. Patent number: 4561273Abstract: A doorknob security apparatus (10) includes an upper housing (14) and a lower housing (16) which cooperate to form a cylindrical member. Hinge parts (24) and (26) are disposed on one edge of the halves and a locking member (20) is disposed on the other side to secure the two halves together. A cover (18) is mounted in annular grooves (28) and (30) on the periphery of the two halves (14) and (16). Semi-annular rings (32) and (38) are disposed on the interior of the housings (14) and (16) to form spaces (34) and (40) while receiving the gripping portion of the doorknob. An orifice is formed with the semi-annular rings to fit about the stem of the doorknob with a diameter less than gripping portion of the doorknob to prevent removal of the apparatus (10) from the doorknob. Reinforcing portions (44) and (46) increase the structural integrity of the semi-annular members (32) and (38).Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1984Date of Patent: December 31, 1985Inventor: Forrest J.
