Portable Patents (Class 70/428)
  • Patent number: 4154071
Abstract: The auxiliary locking mechanism of my prior U.S. Pat. No. 3,894,416 is more securely detended and greatly simplified in construction by forming the locking part of the mechanism that is to engage the surrounding metal as a rectangular body and forming a rectangular recess in the part of the surrounding metal that is to be engaged by the aforesaid locking part. The locking part is movable axially of the remainder of the mechanism so that when the mechanism is inserted into a rectangular opening in the side of the body remote from the rectangular recess, the locking part may be depressed and rotated to be aligned with the recess and then released so that it becomes seated in the recess and is securely detented.

  • Patent number: 4098102
Abstract: A tamper-proof lock housing is provided for enclosing the ignition lock of an automobile which is ordinarily mounted on the steering column of the automobile. The housing is in two halves; the bottom half fitting about the lower half of the steering column, and is secured thereto. The upper half fits down over the lower half and the ignition lock is securely joined thereto by connection breakers so that the two then box in the ignition key switch. The auto safe lock box protects the steering wheel lock and the ignition key.An auxilliary alarm system is provided consisting of a separate battery, additional horn, voltage regulator and a time delay switch. This could work solely off the auto safe lock box itself, or it could work from an alternate lock installed on the outside of the car.

  • Patent number: 4074550
Abstract: A vehicle ignition switch lock device comprising a cover member of rectangular box-like shape which will fit over the ignition lock on the steering column of a vehicle and having as part of the cover member a cylindrical heavy stainless steel cylinder which completely covers and surrounds the vehicle ignition switch. Two leg portions on the box-like member extend past the steering column and receive on the other side thereof a solid steel bar through appropriate apertures provided in the leg members. One of the leg members has a covered steel cylinder member which contains a cylindrical lock with arm member for engagement with an one end of the steel bar through a slot therein. The entire device preferably is made of saw and drill resistant stainless steel material and the cylindrical lock is of the pickproof type. The cylindrical lock is designed so that the key is non-removable from same except when the lock is in the locked position.

  • Patent number: 4062193
Abstract: A bank lock for the ignition lock on the steering column of a motor vehicle includes a pair of arcuate arms which are hingedly connected at one end thereof and are of sufficient length to encircle a substantial segment of a steering column. A yoke element is carried by one of the arcuate arms and is adapted to be juxtaposed in close overlying relation to the housing of an ignition lock which protrudes from the steering column. One of the arcuate arms terminates in an end extension adapted to be positioned across the keyhole opening of the ignition lock and carries one of a pair of locking elements at its outer extremity. The second of the arcuate arms terminates in an end extension which is directed substantially perpendicularly to the end extension of the first arm and is adapted to be positioned in close relation to a diametrically opposed location of the ignition lock housing from the yoke.

  • Patent number: 3948069
Abstract: The device covers the ignition lock which is conventionally mounted on the vehicle steering column and comprises a lock housing and a C-shaped band received by the lock housing which together cooperate to form a shroud or cover for the ignition lock. The housing has a pair of latching devices for receiving the band and locking the band relative to the housing. The latching devices are operated from a key lock which permits release of the latching devices. The housing is positioned so that the key lock faces the vehicle dashboard so that there is little space between the key receiving lock and the dashboard thereby making it difficult for an unauthorized person to "jimmy" the lock open using a prying device or the like.
