Plural Variables Patents (Class 700/67)
  • Patent number: 6314329
Abstract: When a motor vehicle is not in motion, an algorithm for establishing the initial zero point offset values for a yaw rate sensor as may be used in motor vehicle software control systems. The initial values are the manufactured values and are downloaded into the vehicle ECU at the time of the manufacture of the ECU. When the vehicle is waken at the vehicle assembly and the ignition is first turned on, the initial actual value of the zero point offset is stored both as a maximum and minimum value. At subsequent adjusting times when the vehicle is not moving, but the ignition is on, the spread between the maximum and minimum values are checked. If the spread becomes greater than a desired predetermined spread, the value, be it the maximum or minimum value reflects the measured value and the other value is adjusted to be within the desired spread. When the ignition is turned off and the vehicle is not moving, the zero point offset maximum and minimum values are stored in memory.

  • Patent number: 6282454
Abstract: A control system includes an Internet web interface to a network of at least one programmable logic control system running an application program for controlling output devices in response to status of input devices. The Web interface runs Web pages from an Ethernet board coupled directly to the PLC back plane and includes an HTTP protocol interpreter, a PLC back plane driver, a TCP/IP stack, and an Ethernet board kernel. The Web interface provides access to the PLC back plane by a user at a remote location through the Internet. The interface translates the industry standard Ethernet, TCP/IP and HTTP protocols used on the Internet into data recognizable to the PLC. Using this interface, the user can retrieve all pertinent data regarding the operation of the programmable logic controller system.

  • Publication number: 20010012969
Abstract: A controlling system having a controller which acts on a controlled system as a function of a manipulated variable and a number of controller parameters is intended to provide a given control quality and a given control response in all operating states of the controlled system. For this purpose, the response characteristic of the controlled system is determined in a given time window during operation of the controller by comparing a wavelet transformation of the temporal response of the manipulated variable with a wavelet transformation of the temporal response of a controlled variable of the controller. An instant assigned to the respective wavelet transformation is detected, and the or each controller parameter is set as a function of the response characteristic.

  • Patent number: 6236897
Abstract: This invention includes the derivation of the exact mathematical expressions for the curvature, either cardiocle or expanded cardioid, of the casing of the springless eccentric rotor vane pump, thereby facilitating the precision manufacture of the curved surfaces of the casing using CNC techniques. As a result, the capacity and accuracy of the eccentric rotor vane pump is greatly improved. As the section manufacture and assembly of the casing becomes possible, the mass production of large-sized pumps of 1-meter or larger diameter is now attainable, hitherto regarded as almost impossible, and therefore production cost is also reduced. The unique design which positions the axis of eccentricity in the lower central part of the axis of rotor rotation results in increase in the rotation speed of the rotor, and leads to reduction of friction between the vane ends and the curved surface of the casing as the weight of the vane does not affect the movement of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 6233532
Abstract: A sensor assembly and a method for sensing physical conditions and reporting on the same are disclosed. The sensor assembly comprises an electronic sensor, a dedicated signal conditioner and a dedicated ADC, all integrated directly with the electronic sensor into a single pre-assembled and pre-calibrated package. The sensor assembly also comprises transponder apparatus for enabling the sensor assembly to adapt its output signal so as to properly match the specific input requirements of a particular digital controller. More particularly, the sensor assembly's transponder apparatus is constructed so as to measure the time duration of a programming pulse sent to the sensor assembly (the “Controller Programming Pulse”, or “CPP”), and then to use the time duration of the CPP to generate a time-proportioned reporting pulse (“the Sensor Reporting Pulse”, or “SRP”) so as to report sensor data to the digital controller.

  • Patent number: 6226559
Abstract: The mailing machine includes a microcontroller system for executing machine control algorithms during each control cycle and user interface algorithms. Each control cycle is divided into first discrete time intervals sufficient to allow completion of the respective control algorithms, and a second time interval for execution of user interface algorithm and, if required, completion of the user interface algorithm during subsequent control cycles.

  • Patent number: 6181976
Abstract: A coefficient generator, data processing system and method of data reduction in correspondence with multiple-term parametric relationships, and particularly provides for data reduction in correspondence with approximative descriptions which include multiple dependent-variable terms whose higher order derivatives do not vanish. Forms of inverse of deviation variations are implemented to provide weighting which will correct for nonlinear function variations. The forms of inverse deviation weighting are implemented for representing forms of residual weighting and forms of implied squared residual weighting. Represented phases of function similation establish adept equations and implement forms of data processing and representing. Adept data processors correspondingly provide for characterizing approximating relationships in correspondence with provided data.

  • Patent number: 6141596
Abstract: A system and method for creating a fieldbus configuration on a computer system. The user assembles a graphical program or wiring diagram on the screen which comprises a selected plurality of function block icons which are linked with one or more wires connecting the function block icons. As the user assembles the fieldbus configuration wiring diagram, the system automatically creates and displays a schedule which visually presents the schedule being created. The schedule comprises one or more schedule bars for graphically or visually indicating the order of execution of the function blocks. The user can change the order of execution indicated by the schedule by graphically manipulating the schedule bars in the schedule. The user can also place one or more loop structures in the editor window which encapsulate a group of function block icons. The loop structure is used to specify a rate for the function block icons comprised within the loop structure.

  • Patent number: 6108583
Abstract: A system and method for data communication with adaptive security in which a send host transmits a data stream to a receive host in packets which contain an authentication data block with an authentication header and a signature block. The authentication header advantageously contains various fields including a verification type, a security algorithm, a minimum security level, a target security level, and an actual security level. The receive host adaptively performs verification of the data packets using varying security levels based in part on the availability of security operations per second (SOPS) in the receive host. Where a data stream in the receive host is delayed by a security processing bottleneck, the receive host may alter the verification type, security algorithm, or the actual security level to speed up the processing of the data stream by reducing the amount of security processing performed.

  • Patent number: 6021356
Abstract: A control system using a master programmable logic controller (PLC) which efficiently prevents the PLC system from performing an error operation caused by an abnormal state of a master PLC or a communication line error. The control system synchronizes an operating time thereof by resetting the entire remote slave units (RSU) according to the master PLC when respective power-on time points do not correspond between the master PLC and the RSUs, and selectively outputs a finally received data during a normal operation, or an emergency data predetermined by a user, when the data is not received from a master PLC.
