  • Patent number: 11308790
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for event management, allowing authorized users or authorities to distribute and display communications on digital displays. In one aspect, an event management communications system receives event data sent from a detection system comprised of a network of sensors. The event management communications system processes the event data to determine an event perimeter, and then selects one or more digital displays based upon the event data or the determined event perimeter. Next, the event management communications system authors one or more contextual communications corresponding to the one or more digital displays and sends said one or more authored communications to said one or more digital displays, thereby allowing the one or more digital displays to display the corresponding one or more communications to a relevant, identified audience.

  • Patent number: 9875003
Abstract: A method for providing a user interface in which a set of objects stored in the form of data is displayed as a sequential list. The method involves each of the objects being allocated a position in a graphical presentation displayed in addition to the sequential list, the position being taken as a basis for displaying the objects in the graphical presentation. A first user action selects a position in the graphical presentation, and the selected position is taken as a basis for selecting a subset from the displayed set of objects in the sequential list. The positions in the graphical presentation are allocated a metric, wherein it is possible to ascertain a measure of distance between two positions, and an object is included in the subset on the basis of the measure of distance between the position associated with the respective object and the selected position.

Abstract: An integrated fish detection module/navigation module system that may provide the location of fish over a distance or time is provided herein. The location of fish can be presented on a navigation module display to provide information regarding the location of fish relative to navigational data known to the navigation module. The information may create a record of fish location over time and distance. In some configurations, the navigational data and fish detection module data of more than one watercraft may be combined and distributed. In some configurations, a marker may be automatically placed on a navigation module to indicate that fish have been detected at the location on the navigation module.

  • Patent number: 9396563
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for a mapping service. The method generates an initial set of geometries for a road graph defined for a map region. The road graph includes several road segments and junctions aggregated into roads. The method identifies an overlap between a first geometry of a first road segment and a second geometry of a second road segment. The first road segment and the second road segment are parts of different roads and do not meet at a junction. The method automatically modifies at least one of the first and second geometries in order to prevent the first geometry and second geometry from overlapping. In some embodiments each geometry is defined by a set of vertices that specify its boundaries. The method of some embodiments automatically modifies the vertices of at least one of the first and second geometries.

  • Patent number: 9267803
Abstract: Systems and methods of route guidance on a user device are provided. In one aspect, a system and method transmit partitions of map data to a client device. Each map partition may contain road geometries, road names, road network topology, or any other information needed to provide turn-by-turn navigation or driving directions within the partition. Each map partition may be encoded with enough data to allow them to be stitched together to form a larger map. Map partitions may be fetched along each route to be used in the event of a network outage or other loss of network connectivity. For example, if a user deviates from the original route and a network outage occurs, the map data may be assembled and a routing algorithm may be applied to the map data in order to direct the user back to the original route.

Abstract: The present disclosure is related to geographic maps including a plurality of map tiles having various geometric shapes. A determination is made for each map tile as to whether road segment geometry for a road corresponding to the geometric shape is available. The geometric shape is positioned using an actual road width when it is determined that the road segment geometry is available. The geometric shape is positioned using a default road width when it is determined that the road segment geometry is unavailable.

  • Patent number: 9212929
Abstract: Architecture that computes cross-streets of a geographic location using a dynamic routing service. This also means execution can be local on a mobile device without the need to build an additional index of locations and associated cross-streets. Accordingly, the user can now find the cross-streets of a particular location rather than simply the street address. Upon receiving geolocation data for the geographic location, for which the nearest cross-streets are being determined, routing points from which routes are generated to the main point of interest are selected to be sufficiently distant from the main point of interest, since if the routing points are too close, the route may not yield a route sufficiently detailed from which the cross-streets can be inferred. The output is then cross-streets on either side of the geographic location as a means for providing a quick reference to a user seeking the location.

  • Patent number: 9207675
Abstract: An automatic timing measurement system that provides a measure of time of passage of a watercraft through a water course. Algorithms based on inertial or other estimates augmented by GPS speed/position measurements and/or image processing techniques on images provided by one or more cameras are used to track position of a watercraft. The position estimates and image processing techniques are used to allow the locations of water courses to be mapped and memorized. Algorithms are then used to allow the system to automatically detect passage of a watercraft through mapped courses for the purpose of measuring and reporting time of passage of said watercraft past key points in said course, and for modifying the behavior of the speed control portion of the apparatus if necessary at certain points in the mapped course. A measure of accuracy of driver steering can be provided along with the ability to automatically steer the watercraft through the course if “steer-by-wire” mechanism is available.

  • Patent number: 9200919
Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatus are described to selectively obtain map image data according to virtual camera velocity. Embodiments may display a map view of a map using a virtual camera. Some embodiments may detect a velocity of the virtual camera. Embodiments may then determine map image data for the map view of the map according to the velocity of the virtual camera and obtain the determined map image data. In at least some embodiments, a level-of-detail may be specified for map image data according to the velocity. Map image data may be obtained corresponding to this level-of-detail from a map service or from accessing local storage.

  • Patent number: 9201898
Abstract: A method for efficiently fetching map tiles for digital maps includes receiving, at a client device such as a mapping user interface device, a request to display a digital map and identifying a plurality of map tiles for the request, each map tile representing a portion of the digital map. The user interface device generates a single map content request including multiple identifiers corresponding to the plurality of map tiles. The user interface device then sends the map content request to a map content server as a single request requesting multiple map tiles. In response to the map content request, the map content server retrieves the plurality of map tiles from a content database and sends the plurality of map tiles to the client device. The client device can then display the digital map based on the plurality of map tiles.
