Abstract: A system collects and manages sets of asset data that are indicative of operational performance of physical assets disposed at multiple physical locations in a plant. The system includes a database that associates each set of asset data to (1) a location at which the data was collected, (2) the asset for which the data was collected, and (3) the monitoring device that was used to collect the data. In this way, each location has its own history of all asset data ever collected on all assets disposed at that location, and its own history of all monitoring devices used to collect data at that location. Also, each asset has its own history of all asset data collected on that asset at all locations at which it was disposed and for all monitoring devices. This sort of asset data is referred to herein as multi-referenced data.

  • Patent number: 10289773
Abstract: Information from a circuit design's unified power format (UPF) description is utilized to automate the management of reset domain crossings (RDCs). The UPF description is utilized to identify signals that generate both RDC and power domain crossings (PDCs), thereby allowing a circuit designer to efficiently utilize a common (shared) isolation circuit that functions to manage both the RDC (i.e., during reset functions) and the PDC (i.e., during power management functions). A modified UPF description is introduced that facilitates automated management of RDC issues by treating the reset domains as pseudo-power domains, and utilizing UPF analysis and verification tools to automatically generate both shared and non-shared resources for both RDC and PDC issues.

Abstract: Distributed energy resources are validated by dispatching a distributed energy resources individually in known ambient conditions and monitoring the particular effect of dispatch to then establish a database of performance for multiple different distributed energy resources. The distributed energy resources can be permanently monitored to further build up this database and to verify that the distributed energy resource is performing consistent with its validation or other expected performance. Distributed energy resources of a slow responding variety and a fast responding variety can be paired together and dispatched together, so that the paired fast responding and slow responding distributed energy resources mimic a large fast responding distributed energy resource. • Patent number: 9953117
Abstract: A method for solving a two-stage non-linear stochastic formulation for the economic dispatch problem under renewable-generation uncertainty. Certain generation decisions are made only in the first stage and fixed for the subsequent (second) stage, where the actual renewable generation is realized. The uncertainty in renewable output is captured by a finite number of scenarios. Any resulting supply-demand mis-match must then be alleviated using high marginal-cost power sources that can be tapped in short time frames. The solution implements two outer approximation algorithms to solve this nonconvex optimization problem to optimality including the application of a decomposition approach derived from the Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) algorithm.

  • Patent number: 9921602
Abstract: In steady-state voltage stability analysis, as load increases toward a maximum, conventional Newton-Raphson power flow Jacobian matrix becomes increasingly ill-conditioned so power flow fails to converge before reaching maximum loading. A method to directly eliminate this singularity reformulates the power flow problem by introducing an AQ bus with specified bus angle and reactive power consumption of a load bus. For steady-state voltage stability analysis, the angle separation between the swing bus and AQ bus can be varied to control power transfer to the load, rather than specifying the load power itself. For an AQ bus, the power flow formulation is only made up of a reactive power equation, thus reducing the size of the Jacobian matrix by one. This reduced Jacobian matrix is nonsingular at the critical voltage point, eliminating a major difficulty in voltage stability analysis for power system operations.
