Control circuitry may calculate an optimal promotion offer from a third party to a user based on a first layer of the user's profile characteristics matching a target-audience profile of the third party. Control circuitry may then generate for display the optimal promotion offer to the user. In response to receiving a selection of the optimal promotion offer from the user, control circuitry may receive further selections, from the user, of a subset of the user's profile characteristics to share with the third party, and then generate for display, to the user, an actual promotion offer based on the selected subset of profile characteristics.

  • Patent number: 10453101
Abstract: An ad processor evaluates bid functions that are based on concepts that might be generated from interpretations of natural language expressions. Ad buyers provide the functions with corresponding ads to ad processors. Bid functions are further based on the values of semantic information referenced by expressions. Bid functions are further based on environmental information. Ad buyers are able to modify bid functions. Ads may be provided in the form of questions, and may be indicated by an identifying sound. Upon finding no expression concepts within a bid function, the set of expression concepts is expanded according to strengths of connections between concepts in a concept graph.

Abstract: Systems and methods of providing information via a computer network are provided. A data processing system can identify a cluster that includes a plurality of online content items having a semantic or user similarity. The data processing system determines a plurality of cluster placement criteria of the cluster, and receives content configured for display with a web page. The content can be associated with the cluster based on the semantic or user similarity. A cluster placement criterion of the plurality of cluster placement criteria can be selected based on a quality metric of the selected cluster placement criterion, and the selected cluster placement criterion can be provided as a supplemental criterion used to select the content for display with the web page.

  • Patent number: 10198765
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for distributing content items. In one aspect, a method includes identifying a content item that is eligible to be provided in response to a content item request and is associated with a bid. It is determined that the identified content item includes two or more different interactive elements that each cause different actions to be initiated in response to user interaction with the different interactive elements. An auction score is determined for the content item based on a function of the bid, a bid modifier for each different interaction, and a probability that each interaction will be invoked. The content item is selected to be provided based on the auction score. Data that cause presentation of the selected content item at a user device are output.

Abstract: Techniques for onboarding users to various product features are described. According to various embodiments, information identifying a set of candidate onboarding content items associated with an email type of an email to be transmitted to a particular member of an online social network service is accessed. Thereafter, a first subset of the candidate onboarding content items is removed from the set, responsive to determining that the particular member has already been onboarded to products associated with the candidate onboarding content items in the first subset. Further, a second subset of the candidate onboarding content items is removed from the set, responsive to determining that the particular member has previously viewed and not interacted with the candidate onboarding content items in the second subset. A specific onboarding content item is then dynamically selected from the remaining set of candidate onboarding content items.
