  • Patent number: 8745014
Abstract: A method for storing time series data in a key-value database includes receiving time series data relating to the occurrence of an event. An addressing scheme that defines attributes for inclusion in keys for the event is analyzed. The attributes include time granularity attributes of different sizes. The method generates a key corresponding to the time series data based on the analyzing of the addressing scheme including attributes specified in the addressing scheme that are related to the event and one of the attributes represents one of the plurality of time granularity attributes. The method further issues a command to the key-value database to store a record of the occurrence of the event as a value in the key-value database where stored values in the key-value database corresponding keys may be used to satisfy queries relating to the event over a range of time.

  • Patent number: 8543557
Abstract: An optical metrology includes a library, a metrology tool and a library evolution tool. The library is generated to include a series of predicted measurements. Each predicted measurement is intended to match the measurements that a metrology device would record when analyzing a corresponding physical structure. The metrology tool compares its empirical measurements to the predicted measurements in the library. If a match is found, the metrology tool extracts a description of the corresponding physical structure from the library. The library evolution tool operates to improve the efficiency of the library. To make these improvements, the library evolution tool statistically analyzes the usage pattern of the library. Based on this analysis, the library evolution tool increases the resolution of commonly used portions of the library. The library evolution tool may also optionally reduce the resolution of less used portions of the library.

  • Patent number: 8532931
Abstract: A method for calculating a sample size for a clinical trial of a first treatment can be provided. The method can include reading a survival curve from a clinical trial for a second treatment, wherein the clinical trial may be selected by a user interacting with a user interface. The method can further include selecting a plurality of points on the survival curve and storing coordinates for each of the plurality of points, wherein the plurality of points are selected so as to capture substantial features of the survival curve. Then, a hazard curve is generated based on the coordinates that were stored, wherein the hazard curve may be a step function. The method can further include calculating a sample size for the clinical trial of the first treatment using a Markov model based on the hazard curve.

  • Patent number: 8521529
Abstract: An input signal is converted to a feature-space representation. The feature-space representation is projected onto a discriminant subspace using a linear discriminant analysis transform to enhance the separation of feature clusters. Dynamic programming is used to find global changes to derive optimal cluster boundaries. The cluster boundaries are used to identify the segments of the audio signal.

  • Patent number: 8495041
Abstract: A database system that issues a reference transaction by designating a time stamp. Data structures are provided for making an inquiry about the latest value at a designated time using a database in which values and information on times associated with the individual values are contained in a table. One of the data structures includes, for each of IDs associated with the values in the database, at least one time stamp that is sorted in chronological order (hereinafter referred to as a first time stamp); values belonging to the individual first time stamps; and a pointer that designates one of the first time stamps, the first time stamps indicating the times when the values become valid. The other of the data structures includes, for each of the IDs, the designated first time stamp and a value belonging to the designated first time stamp.

  • Patent number: 8494944
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a system, report, and method for automatically generating a series of natural language news-based stories to be presented via a digital interface or printed publication to a portfolio user. The disclosure relates to a filter or selection of a handful of relevant and desired financial instruments, or events created in a large group of events such as sports results, travel information, auction related data, online shopping tools, social media, retail store promotion generation, search engine daily report, etc. for a specific use. These financial instruments, based on different selections from a portfolio manager via a management tool, are then used to either produce a strategies page where a list of useful covered call trade and hedged trade are displayed in the form of a table, or natural language news-based stories relating to a selected list of financial instruments found in a portfolio.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for providing an automated validity check of transaction data postings. In one implementation, a method is provided that includes entering at least one code for specifying at least one posting to be performed for a transactional data processing operation. The method may also include starting the transactional data processing operation, sending a request to a service component for performing a validity check of the at least one code, buffering one or more posting requests resulting from execution of the transactional data processing operation. Further, the method may include sending, in response to receipt of a first signal indicative of code validity from the service component, the one or more buffered posting requests with the at least one code to a posting component.

  • Patent number: 8484511
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for collection, validation, analysis, and automated error correction of data regarding user interaction with content. In one embodiment, statistical methods are used to arrive at expected values for the collected data. The data is compared to the expected value and must meet one or more acceptance criteria (e.g., be within a prescribed range) to be considered valid. The prescribed range is determined by the network operator, or a computer program adapted to generate this value. The invention enables a network operator to assess a large volume of data without requiring significant amounts of manual monitoring and/or error correction. The ability to collect, validate and analyze data across multiple platforms is also provided. Still further, an automated system capable of learning evaluation and error correction patterns is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8478538
Abstract: According to embodiments, techniques for extracting a signal parameter from a selected region of a generally repetitive signal are disclosed. A pulse oximetry system including a sensor or probe may be used to obtain an original photoplethysmograph (PPG) signal from a subject. A filter transformation may be applied to the original PPG signal to produce a baseline PPG signal. The baseline PPG signal may contain artifacts and/or noise, and a region of the baseline PPG signal suitable for extracting the signal parameter may be selected. A suitable region of the baseline PPG signal may be selected by applying one or more thresholds to the baseline PPG signal, where the values of the thresholds may be set based on derivative values, amplitude-based percentiles, and/or local minima and maxima of the baseline PPG signal. A portion of the original PPG signal corresponding to the selected region may be processed, and the signal parameter may be extracted from the processed region.

Abstract: A computer program product, and related systems and methods, are described that processes emission intensity data corresponding to probes of a biological probe array. The computer program includes a genotype and statistical analysis manager that determines absolute or relative expression values based, at least in part, on a statistical measure of the emission intensity data and at least one user-selectable statistical parameter. The analysis manager may also determine genotype calls for one or more probes based, at least in part, on the emission intensity data. The analysis manager may further display the absolute or relative expression values based, at least in part, on at least one user-selectable display parameter and/or a measure of normalized change between genotype calls. The measure of normalized change may be based, at least in part, on a comparison of genotype calls and a reference value.
