Ranking Search Results Patents (Class 707/723)
  • Patent number: 11423037
Abstract: Search results are filtered using one or more rankers that evaluate a searcher intention to select items from a subset of search results. A subset of items may be provided that are responsive to a user search query. This subset of items may have one or more related properties and may be logically grouped together. A database of rankers may be evaluated and applied to the subset of items to determine items that are both relevant to the user search query and also correspond to a user intention for the search. As a result, the ranker may select and filter out certain items having one or more features that do not correspond to the user intention.

In performing the search, the first record should match the first search term and the second record should match a second search term, where the second is identified by the system and is related to but different from the first search term.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for expressing viability of a first database as a candidate for replacing a second database. The method identifies a first group of database queries that a group of applications directed towards the second database. The method produces a second group of queries by removing, from the first group, queries that are duplicates. Based on a set of complexity values associated with a set of components of the second group of queries, the method generates a complexity indicator representing a level of difficulty for rewriting the second group of queries for the second database.

Abstract: A method of searching data being directed into a data heap looks for the presence of multiple tags on data elements and then applies a group tag to those data elements if all tags of the group are identified. The tags are applied by group tagging applications or “GroupTagApps” (GTAs), which are small, quickly executing software applications that are each focused on the tagging of data that includes a particular set of tags in order to make the identification process rapid. Multiple GTAs in one or both of horizontal and vertical configurations may be constructed in order to provide any necessary level of speed or take full advantage of an available hardware configuration.

Abstract: In one or more embodiments, a first entity may create a profile by providing content via an interface or a first interface. A second entity may manage one or more aspects of the profile via a second interface. The amount of control the second entity has over one or more portions of the profile may be related to or based on content of the profile or a relationship between the first entity and the second entity. For example, the second entity may screen content of the profile from public view. Additionally, profiles may be searched internally within an organization or externally, such as for outsourcing or to provide vendors or clients with more customized solutions. In this manner, profile management is provided.

  • Patent number: 11275749
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for query performance prediction (QPP) in the fusion-based retrieval setting. Symmetric list similarity measures used in traditional QPP techniques do not properly account for relevance-dependent aspects of the relationship between a given (base) reference list generated using an information retrieval technique and a final fused list generated using a fusion technique, as such a relationship is actually asymmetric. Embodiments more properly model the asymmetric relationship of reference and fused lists using an asymmetric co-relevance model that estimates, assuming a reference list contains relevant information, the odds that the fused list will be observed. In particular, the asymmetric co-relevance between a reference list and a fused list may be determined by adjusting a symmetric co-relevance of the reference list and the fused list using an odds ratio between the symmetric co-relevance of the reference list and the fused list to the reference list's own relevance.
