Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method for generating a search result and an information search system. The method for generating a search result includes: receiving, by an information search system, a search request; obtaining, by searching, a plurality of pieces of matching information that match the search request; obtaining a respective amount of user response associated with each of the plurality of pieces of matching information and further obtaining a total amount of user response associated with a respective categories to which each of the plurality of pieces of matching information belongs; and ranking the plurality of pieces of information to generate a search result based on the total amount of user response associated with the respective category to which each of the plurality of pieces of matching information belongs.

Abstract: A documents database has a plurality of documents, including but not limited to text files, video clips and sound files. Each document is associated with at least one category of a plurality of categories in a categories database, and each category has at least one keyword. A search request having at least one search term is received from a user, and a categories database is searched for categories having a keyword corresponding to the user search term to identify first level categories. The other keywords from the identified first level categories are retrieved and the documents database is searched for documents having a user search term or a retrieved keyword. The identified documents are then ranked and presented to the user. Other search expansion techniques, and display techniques, are also discussed.

Abstract: A search query including search criteria can be received. The search criteria can be a text string. An enhanced search against an enhanced index can be executed. The enhanced index can be metadata associated with an enhanced cluster. The enhanced cluster can be a document cluster associated with the metadata. The enhanced cluster can be aggregated into a merged document. The merged document can be a document including the enhanced cluster contents. The ranking algorithm can be executed on the merged document to obtain a final ranking of content within the single document.

Abstract: Method of presenting search results to a user of a social network site on the Internet, in which each user of the social network site has a user profile with information regarding the user, includes obtaining content items satisfying a search of information on the Internet by a first user. The content items are ranked as a function of the information in the user profile of the first user such that the content items which are related to the information in the user profile of the first user are ranked higher than the content items which are unrelated to the information in the user profile of the first user. The content items according to ranking are then transferred to a display of the first user via the Internet such that higher ranked content items are displayed on the display prior to lower ranked content items being displayed on the display.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for scoring documents in response, in part, to parameters related to the document, source, and/or cluster score. Methods and apparatus are also described for scoring a cluster in response, in part, to parameters related to documents within the cluster and/or sources corresponding to the documents within the cluster. In one embodiment, the invention may detect at least one document within the cluster; analyze a parameter corresponding to the document; and compute a cluster score based, in part, on the parameter, wherein the cluster score corresponds with at least one document within the cluster.

Abstract: Example apparatus and methods concern automatically creating editorial content for albums that are to be recommended in a computerized music marketplace. An album may be selected for recommendation after analyzing consumption data (e.g., sales, downloads, samples), and popularity data (e.g., chart rankings, critical reviews). The popularity data may also include data mined from sources including search engines and social media sites. An overall recommendation score may be a weighted function of consumption data and popularity data. A customized recommendation score may be a weighted function of the overall recommendation score influenced by regional considerations, demographic considerations, and other considerations. The editorial content may include art and text and may be customized based on regional considerations, demographic considerations, and based on other art or text that will appear at the same time as the editorial content.

Abstract: A collaborative, semantic-based knowledge structure creation and management system and method are provided. The system and method may include knowledge structures which include concept based maps which may be linked according to topic, relationship types, conceptual equivalence, and temporally. The knowledge structures may be managed by users, wherein users may perform at least one of adding a new concept, creating a new relationship, confirming an existing relationship, and breaking an existing relationship.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products are herein provided for improved device and network searching based on the number of character inputs being provided. A method may include receiving at least one character input. The method may further include causing, in response to receiving the at least one character input, performance of a first search within a local memory of a device based at least in part on the at least one character input. The method may further include causing, in response to receiving a number of character inputs that exceeds a threshold number, performance of a second search external to the device based at least in part on the character inputs. Abstract: A system and method is described herein that automatically detects when a user of a search engine is conducting a research session about a particular topic and then presents the user with access to one or more research-related tools responsive to detecting that the research session is being conducted. The automatic provision of access to the research-related tool(s) responsive to detection of the research session can advantageously improve the experience of the user conducting the research session.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems, methods and computer program products for generating search results comprising web documents with associated expert information. One embodiment of a method for generating such search results includes receiving one or more search queries, selecting one of the one or more search queries, determining one or more categories of web documents responsive to the selected search query and crawling a web graph of linked web documents to identify one or more web documents tagged as within the one or more categories responsive to the selected search query. The method further includes generating a result set of the one or more web documents identified as within the one or more categories responsive to the selected search query, ranking the result set and generating a list of ranked search results responsive to the selected search.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for generating answers to questions. In one embodiment, the method comprises receiving an input query; conducting a search to identify candidate answers to the input query, and producing a plurality of scores for each of the candidate answers. For each of the candidate answers, one, of a plurality of candidate ranking functions, is selected. This selected ranking function is applied to the each of the candidate answers to determine a ranking for the candidate answer based on the scores for that candidate answer. The area may be any defined geographical area, such as a city, stadium, event, etc. The users can like topics, add new topics, add photos, comments, or other content to topics, and subscribe to (or “follow”) their favorite topics. Experts, having individualized knowledge, are listed in a skill-set database associated with the inquiry types. The skill-set database entries are linked to the associated inquiry-type by a numerical routing identifier. An expert is selected from the skill-set database entry linked by the numerical routing identifier. In another embodiment, multiple enterprises are mapped to separate layers of inquiry types having a one-to-one correspondence with the underlying groupings. Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to an approach for reusing information/knowledge. Specifically, embodiments of the present invention provide an approach for retrieving previously stored data to satisfy queries (e.g., jobs/tickets) for solutions to problems while maintaining privacy/security of the data as well as ensuring the quality of the results. In a typical embodiment, a query for a solution to a problem is received and details are extracted therefrom. Using the details, a search is performed on a set of data stored in at least one computer storage device. Based on the search, a set of results will be generated and classified into a set of categories. Abstract: Methods and systems for mapping repairs orders within a database are described. Mapping a repair order can include generating a searchable data record with multiple data record fields. Each data record field can include a term located on the repair order or a standard term associated with the term on the repair order. In order to retrieve repair orders from the database, the data records can be searched using search criteria that match standard terms storable in the data record fields. Although the repair orders can be searched to find repair orders with terms that match the search criteria, the search may be carried our more efficiently (e.g., quicker) by searching the data records instead of the repair orders. One or more repairs orders can be associated with real-fix tips. Phrases of the real-fix tips can be selected automatically based, for example, or RO terms recited on the repair orders.

Abstract: A system and method of providing information to improve efficiency of human searchers obtaining information on behalf of users is described. A first responder to a request is provided with specialized tools for responding to a request. An initial evaluation of a query may be used to determine the responder and the type of tools which will be provided initially. A toolset which allows rapid responses based on data resources, common queries, and contextual information of a user, a request, partially matching queries and previous responses to previous queries is used to improve the probability that a first responder may provide a suitable response to a query.

Abstract: Techniques for predicting user interests based on information known about a specific context is provided. A context-independent relevance function is generated from information gathered from many users and/or from many documents (or files). Information about a specific context (e.g., a particular user, a particular group of users, or type of content) is used to adapt the CI relevance function to the specific context. Based on a query submitted by a user, the adapted relevance function is used to identify results that the user would most likely be interested in. Results may include references to webpages and advertisements.

Abstract: In this invention, systems and methods for providing keywords for advertising are provided. After a user searches for another user in a social network, the webpage or blog of the queried user is retrieved, and keywords are extracted from this webpage. The keywords may be extracted from the user's profile on the social network (e.g., favorite sports, music artists, etc.), or keywords may be extracted from the text of the webpage (e.g., comments that comprise the blog entries). Once extracted, these keywords may then be used by an advertising system to provide targeted advertisements to the user.

A computer storage device stores a dataset related to the object or concept name, wherein the dataset includes a plurality of property names and can also include association-strength values. A computer processing system can count a first frequency of a first property name and count a second frequency of a second property name in a document containing text in a natural language, calculate a relevance score as a function of the first frequency and the second frequency, and rank the plurality of documents using their respective relevance scores, and return one or more documents to the user based on the ranking of the plurality of documents.

Media content portions are concatenated together to generate a continuous stream of media extracted from different media content. The order of the media content portions can be modified and different video and/or audio portions can be selected to correspond with the words or phrases.

An example system configured to practice the method can receive, from a client device, content items uploaded to a synced online content management system, wherein the content items are associated with an account of a first user. The system can cluster at least some of the content items as an event, wherein the event is associated with a common attribute, and identify a second user satisfying a minimum similarity threshold for the event based on the common attribute. The system can provide a suggestion to share the event with the second user. Abstract: The present inventors devised, among other things, system, methods, and interfaces for researching, evaluating, and comparing expert witnesses. One exemplary system includes interfaces that facilitate users entering queries regarding experts based on name or subject matter and filtering search results based on damage awards, case types, attorneys, clients and date range. The system also enables side-by-side comparisons of the cumulative litigation history for multiple experts, and provides an expert challenge report that indicates whether an expert has been challenged in past litigation, the result of any challenges, the presiding judges in the any challenges, and the text of the challenged testimony.
