The line cards may be configured to communicate with other devices. The processor may be configured to receive a request to reconcile physical addresses from a network device, retrieve sub-location addresses from the database based on the request, determine whether each of the sub-location addresses can be deleted from the database based on association between the sub-location address and a physical device, and, for each of the sub-location addresses, delete the sub-location address from the database based on the determination.

Abstract: Techniques for annotating communications are described. An electronic message sent from a sender messaging identity to a recipient messaging identity is received. The message is analyzed to identify third-party information related to a portion of the message. The portion of the message is annotated to enable presentation of the third-party information by the recipient messaging identity. The message including the annotated portion of the message is presented on a display device for viewing by the recipient messaging identity.

Abstract: People often trust ratings provided by those with whom they have an existing relationship more than they would trust ratings provided by strangers. A system that provides ratings can combine the ratings with information about a person's social network, in order to provide information that a person seeking the rating may find more reliable. The information provided to a person may, in some manner, differentiate between ratings that were provided by members of the person's social network and ratings that were provided by those outside of the persons' social network.

Abstract: A searchable encryption resistant to frequency analysis. A conversion rule management device generates a conversion rule table associating a search keyword with a conversion keyword group. Based on the conversion rule table, a data registration device generates registration data associating encrypted data with an encrypted keyword, and registers the registration data in a server device. An information processing device obtains from the conversion rule table a conversion keyword group associated with a specified search keyword, generates an encrypted keyword group, and requests a data search by specifying the encrypted keyword group. Using as a search key an encrypted keyword included in the encrypted keyword group, the server device searches for encrypted data associated with the search key, and returns searched encrypted data. The information processing device decrypts the searched encrypted data, and outputs as a search result search data obtained by decryption.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes automatically and without user input grouping one or more images captured by a first user into clusters of particular moments based at least in part on metadata associated with one or more of the images or data determined through analysis of one or more of the images. Each particular moment being associated with a particular geo-location and time. The method also includes, for each of one or more of the clusters, determining curating information corresponding to the cluster based at least in part on the metadata associated with images in the cluster, the data determined through analysis of images in the cluster, or social-graph information associated with images in the cluster; and providing the clusters of images and at least some of the curating information corresponding to them for display on a computing device of the first user.

Abstract: Data storage systems are disclosed for automatically generating encryption rules based on a set of training files that are known to include sensitive information. The system may use a number of heuristic algorithms to generate one or more encryption rules for determining whether a file includes sensitive information. Further, the system may apply the heuristic algorithms to the content of the files, as determined by using natural language processing algorithms, to generate the encryption rules. Moreover, systems are disclosed that are capable of automatically determining whether to encrypt a file based on the generated encryption rules. The content of the file may be determined using natural language processing algorithms and then the encryption rules may be applied to the content of the file to determine whether to encrypt the file.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described herein for the generation of customized collages of media assets that allow a user to quickly and efficiently review numerous media assets related to user selected criteria. For example, in response to a user requesting a search of “Johnny Appleseed,” a media guidance application may retrieve a plurality of media assets from various sources (e.g., television shows, newspaper articles, radio broadcasts, Internet websites, etc.) related to Johnny Appleseed and display the plurality of media assets simultaneously.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products, for creating a mapping between topics and navigational resources are disclosed. The mapping is created based on hybrid queries having both characteristics of informational queries and navigational queries. The mapping between topics and resources can be used in scoring search results for ranking, for example. Other mappings created based on other types of hybrid queries and their applications are also disclosed.

For example, a broker operating a financial system may generate a chart based on a first named object. The broker may wish to send the chart to another broker operating a different financial system. Since the first name object may be known by a different name in the different financial system, the financial system may replace the name of the object with referential metadata prior to sending the chart.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products, for generating or using augmentation queries. In one aspect, subject phrases for detection in content are identified. Each phrase has a corresponding cardinality of terms. First hash sets for each of the subject phrases are generated, each first hash set including first hashes of bigram term subsets for each of the phrases. Sub-phrase scores for each of the hashes based on the cardinality of each phrase are assigned. The sub-phrase scores a used to detect the subject phrases in hashes of portions of received content. Duplicate potential entity data is then identified and eliminated to generate a master entity list. The financial data is also analyzed to identify potential commercial transaction data and one or more attributes associated with the commercial transaction data, including data indicating commercial transactions and the parties associated with the commercial transactions. The commercial transaction data is then analyzed using the master entity list to match entities listed in the master entity list with the parties associated with the commercial transactions. The matched entities are then substituted for the respectively matched parties associated with the commercial transactions to create a master commercial transaction list.

Abstract: A method and system for fuzzy full text search is disclosed. The system includes an inverted index where tokens are organized in a Next Valid Character (NVC) tree. Each path through the tree defines a token. The document lists for the tokens are stored at leaf nodes. When performing a fuzzy full text search, the system uses an edit distance greater than zero. After receiving search tokens, the system traverses the NVC tree to generate document error lists. The system then compares the error lists to identify relevant document identifiers and provides a result set.

Abstract: Contact objects in one or more databases can be matched using various systems and methods to determine geographical proximity between the objects. Location attributes associated with first and second objects can be compared to determine a distance between the locations associated with the objects. The objects can then be grouped if the distance is less than a threshold distance.

Abstract: Tag scoring for elements associated with a common tag enables a user to conduct a tag search and view a listing of elements associated with the tag. The listing can be ordered by each element's tag score. To create such a tag score, users may associate an element with one or more tags that characterize the element. A tag score may then be assigned to this element for each assigned tag and may be based on a multitude of factors. These factors may include a number of times that the element has been tagged with the assigned tag and users' votes on the accuracy of the assigned tag to the element. Tag-scoring factors may include, among others, an age of a tag associated with the element, a click rate for the element, a customer review of the element, a sales rank for the element, or an availability of the element.

Abstract: A database management system that manages data in a database includes a query optimizer that performs query optimization based on statistics related to data in the database. The query optimizer incrementally updates the statistics. The query optimizer organizes the statistics related to the data in the database into a statistics tree structure having a root node corresponding to global statistics, internal nodes corresponding to summary statistics of descendant nodes, and leaf nodes corresponding to disjoint data ranges in the database. The query optimizer performs statistics tree transformation operations on the statistics tree structure. The transformation operations transform the statistics tree structure into a form that at least partially minimizes the system resources needed to update the statistics. The query optimizer updates the statistics corresponding to those nodes of the statistics tree structure where a change has occurred in the disjoint data ranges.

The obtained feature values can be obtained for a selected set of features satisfying one or more predefined characteristic criteria. The device attributes can be obtained, for example, from a profile for each of the plurality of potential devices.

Abstract: Described embodiments relate generally to ontology-driven complex event processing (CEP). When implemented as a computer (105), the computer (105) enables, in communication with a network, user generation and transformation of an event definition into an ontology-based event definition. A computer-implemented transformer component (140) receives the ontology-based event definition, generates event processing instructions and transmits the event processing instructions to a CEP server (150) over the network. The CEP server (150) then observes a plurality of structured messages containing event data and determines whether the event data satisfy all conditions of the event definition and sends an event message responsive to determining that all event definition conditions are satisfied. The described techniques allow an arbitrary high-throughput CEP to be used.

The method includes generating a number of training samples from clickthrough data, wherein the training samples include positive query-document pairs and negative query-document pairs. Abstract: A unified system of unique identifiers is used to match enrichment content with primary content being delivered by subscribers, e.g. broadcasters, in different markets, market segments, etc. Songs, video, advertisements, or other content from multiple different content publishers or databases, each of which may be assigned identifiers using different identification systems, are assigned a unified, unique identifier. The unique identifiers are also mapped to content identifiers used by subscribers. When subscribers provide primary content, for example by broadcasting the content to end users, enrichment content is matched to the unified, unique identifier associated with the content, and appropriate enrichment data and content are sent to the subscriber for distribution along with the primary content. If subscribers or content publishers change their own identifiers associated with content, the content can be un-matched and re-matched with the same or a different unique identifier.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing electronic data are disclosed. Various data management operations can be performed based on a metabase formed from metadata. Such metadata can be identified from an index of data interactions generated by a journaling module, and obtained from their associated data objects stored in one or more storage devices. In various embodiments, such processing of the index and storing of the metadata can facilitate, for example, enhanced data management operations, enhanced data identification operations, enhanced storage operations, data classification for organizing and storing the metadata, cataloging of metadata for the stored metadata, and/or user interfaces for managing data. In various embodiments, the metabase can be configured in different ways. For example, the metabase can be stored separately from the data objects so as to allow obtaining of information about the data objects without accessing the data objects or a data structure used by a file system.

Abstract: A method and system for reducing storage requirements and speeding up storage operations by reducing the storage of redundant data includes receiving a request that identifies one or more files or data objects to which to apply a storage operation. For each file or data object, the storage system determines if the file or data object contains data that matches another file or data object to which the storage operation was previously applied, based on awareness of the application that created the data object. If the data objects do not match, then the storage system performs the storage operation in a usual manner. However, if the data objects do match, then the storage system may avoid performing the storage operation with respect to the particular file or data object.

Abstract: A method for centrally providing a profile of a user's degree of preference for one or more items across categories in a plurality of domains of interest in a taxonomy of preferences is described. In one embodiment, the method includes identifying a user's degree of preference for an item from a plurality of indicators. The user's degree of preference for the item is associated with a category in a domain of interest and is stored in a profile of the user. In another embodiment, the profile identifies preferences of the user in a taxonomy of preferences across categories in a plurality of domains of interest.

Abstract: Techniques for aligning content items with one another are described herein. These techniques may align different versions of a same content item for the purpose of identifying differences between the versions, identifying commonalities between the versions, mapping annotations made in one version to the other version, aggregating annotations across the different versions, or for any other reason. The content items may include electronic books, songs, videos, documents, or the like.

Abstract: In some embodiments, scripts may be used to perform parcel data acquisition, conversion, and clean-up/repair in an automated manner and/or through graphical user interfaces. The scripts may be used, for example, to repair geometries of new parcel data, convert multi-part parcel geometries to single part parcel geometries (explode), eliminate duplicate parcel geometries, append columns, create feature classes, and append feature classes. These scripts may be executed in a predetermined manner to increase efficiency. In some embodiments, different combinations of attributes may be appended to stored parcel data. In some embodiments, a tracking application may be used to track information about sources of data. In some embodiments, a tracking application may be used to track which system users are assigned to specific tasks (e.g., in a data acquisition project).

Abstract: An advertising system and method are disclosed for generating advertising content based on a user's images. These can be photographs owned by a user of a web page. An advertising template for an advertising sponsor is provided. For a user viewing the web page, a set of the user's images is categorized, based on image content of the images in the set. The categorization is performed with at least one classifier which has been trained on a finite set of image categories. An advertising image is selected for advertising content based on the categorization of the user's images. The template is combined with the selected advertising image to form the advertising content. The advertising content can then be displayed to the user on the web page. A user profile is also disclosed which can be used as the categorized user images.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that allow for indexing, processing, or both of information from physical media or electronic media, which may be received from a plurality of sources. In embodiments, a document file may be matched using pattern matching methods and may include comparisons with a comparison reference database to improve or accelerate the indexing process. In embodiments, information may be presented to a user as potential matches thereby improving manual indexing processes. In embodiments, one or more additional actions may occur as part of the processing, including without limitation, association additional data with a document file, making observations from the document file, notifying individuals, creating composite messages, and billing events. In an embodiment, data from a document file may be associated with a key word, key phrase, or word frequency value that enables adaptive learning so that unindexed data may be automatically indexed based on user interaction history.

Abstract: For efficiently storing and retrieving data and metadata in phases, in a first phase, metadata tokens, which are assigned to most active metadata-emitting entities, are used for storing the data and the metadata together in a single input/output operation while piggybacking the metadata of least active metadata-emitting entities onto one of the most active metadata-emitting entities having one of the metadata tokens. In a second phase, the metadata is re-written to a metadata delta journal for reclaiming the metadata tokens. In a third phase, the metadata journal is applied to a metadata structure containing the metadata of the storage system, the metadata delta journal is then cleared after successfully updating the main metadata structure with the metadata of the metadata journal. The metadata journal is swapped with an empty metadata journal for concurrently adding metadata while retaining the metadata journal until applying the metadata delta journal to the metadata structure.

One of the methods includes receiving first image search results responsive to a text query, each first image search result associated with a respective first score indicating a relevance of an image represented by the first image search result to the text query. Second image search results responsive to a query image are received, each second image search result associated with a respective second score indicating a measure of similarity between an image represented by the second image search result and the query image. A set of final image search results is selected including combining first scores and second scores of the selected first image search results. The final image search results are ordered by similarity to the query image.

The method also includes comparing the one or more user-specific ontologies with a plurality of defined ontologies. Each defined ontology corresponds to a category of a plurality of categories. The method further includes categorizing the user in accordance with the comparison of the one or more user-specific ontologies and the plurality of defined ontologies.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed that identify a motor vehicle operation and whether a driver is operating a mobile device. One example of operation may include a method that includes receiving vehicle data based on active operation of a vehicle and compiling a candidate driver identification profile (DIP) based on the received vehicle data. The method may also include comparing the candidate DIP to a pre-stored DIP and determining a match between the candidate DIP and the pre-stored DIP. The method may also include applying a restriction to a mobile station operated by a driver of the vehicle responsive to the match determination.

Abstract: A computer-readable, non-transitory medium storing a character string comparison program is provided. The program causes, when executed by a computer, the computer to perform a process including splitting a first character string and a second character string into words; acquiring information including a semantic attribute that represents a semantic nature of each of the words and a conceptual code that semantically identifies said each of the words, from a storage device; identifying a pair of the words having a common semantic attribute between the first character string and the second character string; comparing the conceptual codes of the specified pair of the words between the first character string and the second character string; and generating a comparison result between the first character string and the second character string based upon a comparison result of the conceptual codes.
