Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for keyword management are described. Some embodiments provide a keyword management system (“KMS”) configured to determine the effectiveness of multiple candidate keywords. In some embodiments, the KMS generates multiple candidate keywords based on an initial keyword. The KMS may then determine an effectiveness score for each of the candidate keywords, based on marketing information about those keywords. Next, the KMS may process the candidate keywords according to the determined effectiveness scores. In some embodiments, processing the candidate keywords includes applying rules that conditionally perform actions with respect to the candidate keywords, such as modifying advertising expenditures, modifying content, or the like.

Abstract: A method of extracting an important keyword by an important keyword extracting server, the method includes receiving a set of one or more documents from a network, receiving one or more user defined keywords from a user terminal, calculating, by the server, a relative importance value for each of words detected in the set of documents, determining, by the server, a weight for each of the words based on the one or more user defined keywords, applying, by the server, the weight for each of the words to the relative importance value for each of the words, determining, by the server, at least one of the words to be the important keyword based on the relative importance value to which the weight is applied and transmitting, by the server, the important keyword to the user terminal. Therefore, the method may effectively detect a user defined keyword from at least one document.

Abstract: Mechanisms are provided that: identify topics associated with a plurality of pieces of media content presented in a session; calculate a distance metric for pairs of topics, wherein each of the pairs of topics includes a first topic associated with a first piece of media content and a second topic associated with a second piece of media content, and wherein the second piece of media content was presented within a given span of the presentation of the first piece of media content; for each first topic of the pairs of topics, generate a rank-ordered list for all corresponding second topics; for each of the plurality of pieces of media content, generate a single rank-ordered list of all second topics; and for each of the plurality of pieces of media content, identify one or more other pieces of media content as recommended media content based on the single rank-ordered list.

Abstract: Computer based systems, methods, software and databases are presented in which correlations between web item preferences, behaviors and pangenetic (genetic and epigenetic) attributes of individuals are used for pangenetic based user behavior prediction in which predictions of a user's online behavior can be generated based on the user's pangenetic makeup. Data masking can be used to maintain privacy of sensitive portions of the pangenetic data.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer-readable storage medium, including a method for propagating labels. The method comprises determining a set of labels to be associated with users of a social network, the labels including one or more designators for specifying areas of interest and areas of disinterest for a user. The method further comprises associating nodes in a graph representing the social network, where the users are represented by user nodes in the graph, and determining that a user is similar or dissimilar to another user in the social network. The method further comprises determining weights for the labels, each weight reflecting a magnitude of a contribution of an associated label to a characterization of the respective node, and propagating labels to other nodes that are related to the respective node by a relationship, including propagating labels in accordance with the determined similarity or dissimilarity.

Abstract: Disclosed is a service which obtains media directly from users and from online sources, which obtains events and anniversaries from online sources, which obtains location and date information associated with photographs, which dynamically provides users with a selection of automatically curated collections of photographs based on the then-current location of the user, based on and relevant to personal and publicly recognized anniversaries and holidays (with dates obtained directly from the users and from online sources), based on specific people or locations associated with dates, events, and anniversaries, and which presents intelligently organized location-based collections which can be quickly re-organized by a user.

Abstract: In general, in one aspect, a method includes receiving, by the one or more processors, from a client device, data specifying a query image, requesting, by the one or more processors, text labels responsive to the query image from a database of text labels associated with images, in response to no zero text labels that meet a threshold being returned for the request, sending, by the one or more processors, request data to the client device that causes the client device to display a prompt to enter a textual search query, receiving, in response to the request data, a textual search query from the client device, and in the database of text labels associated with images, associating, by the one or more processors, the textual search query with the query image. Abstract: The present invention pre-fetches objects, textures and scripts (collectively referred to herein as items) through analysis of the communications of an avatar. Furthermore, if an object, texture or script is not pre-fetched upon arrival to a region the virtual universe's object, texture and script download system is augmented to prioritize objects the user may be interested in based on the avatar's communications and previously stated priorities. The present invention may improve user experience of virtual world by prioritizing the download and caching of objects, textures, and scripts that are likely to interest the user. Such a prioritization enhances the user experience by reducing wait times for the rendering of objects of interest.

Abstract: In one embodiment, one or more computing systems may implement a social networking environment and may be operable to access, in a social graph associated with one or more computing systems of a social network environment, a user node representing a particular user, the user node connected to a plurality of attribute nodes. The social graph may comprise a plurality of object nodes in the social graph, each object node being connected to a plurality of attribute nodes. The systems may be further operable to calculate a match coefficient between the user node and an individual object node. The calculation may include operations to, for each attribute node in a set of all attribute nodes connected to both the user node and the object node, calculate a first coefficient between the user node and the attribute node.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and media are provided for delivering clustered search results for recent and non-recent events by maintaining the identification (ID) numbers of the respective clustered documents beyond the “fresh” life span of the clustered documents. When clusters are formed according to similar content, an ID number and associated attributes are assigned to each of the clusters. This provides a mechanism to track and retrieve the respective clusters for subsequent delivery of search results. The respective ID numbers of the clusters are maintained, even after the documents are no longer considered “fresh.” These similar-content clusters are further subdivided according to publication date. This provides individual subdivided clusters for similar content events that occurred at different time spans, which are delivered along with individual non-clustered search results in a SERP.

Abstract: There is provided a contents' relationship visualizing apparatus including a usage history acquiring unit for acquiring usage histories of multiple contents, a users' set specifying unit for specifying a content's users' set indicating users utilizing each content by use of the contents' usage histories, a similarity calculating unit for calculating a similarity between the specified users' sets by use of a similarity index, and a network creating unit for creating a network indicating a relationship between the contents by use of the calculated similarity between the users' sets.

Abstract: The design and implementation of databases within enterprises is a crucial process, but is often resource intensive and often times unnecessary as existing databases may be utilized to serve the same goals. Tracking existing databases and assessing the design specifications of proposed databases is a complex decision making process. Disclosed is a system and computer-based method for systematically controlling the approval, creation and modification of databases. The system provides a policy for enterprise governance control for database proliferation and a tool for comparing database requests to and against existing database assets.

Abstract: A system is configured to annotate an image with tags. As configured, the system accesses an image and generates a set of vectors for the image. The set of vectors may be generated by mathematically transforming the image, such as by applying a mathematical transform to predetermined regions of the image. The system may then query a database of tagged images by submitting the set of vectors as search criteria to a search engine. The querying of the database may obtain a set of tagged images. Next, the system may rank the obtained set of tagged images according to similarity scores that quantify degrees of similarity between the image and each tagged image obtained. Tags from a top-ranked subset of the tagged images may be extracted by the system, which may then annotate the image with these extracted tags.

Abstract: Aspects and implementations of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods of selecting content for presentation to a viewing user. In general, in some implementations, a data processing system identifies a topic for a document requested by a user, determines a confidence score for a correlation between the topic and the document, determines a sentiment score for a sentiment towards the topic, and determines, for a candidate content item, a predicted acceptance score based on the confidence score, the sentiment score, and acceptance history data for the candidate content item. The data processing system selects a candidate content item for presentation to the user based, at least in part, on the predicted acceptance score.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for enhancing social networking content may include 1) identifying social networking content accessed from a social networking site, 2) parsing the social networking content to identify at least one content item that is potentially referenced in at least one of a plurality of social networking sites, 3) searching the plurality of social networking sites for an additional content item that relates to the content item, and 4) enhancing the social networking content with the additional content item. Abstract: A method for tenant placement in a multi-tenant system is shown that includes creating a weighted graph of tenants and sharing relationships between tenants, where a weight for each tenant and each sharing relationship represents an associated degree of resource consumption; and adding one or more tenants to a database using a processor based on said weighted graph and a database capacity, such that the combined weight of the added tenants and the sharing relationships belonging to the added tenants are within the database capacity. If a tenant cannot be added to the database without exceeding the database capacity, a new database is created and the one or more tenants are added to the new database, subject to a new database capacity. The adding and creating steps are repeated until all tenants have been added to a database.

Abstract: Exemplary systems and methods for linking entity references to entities and identifying associations between entities are presented. In particular, a method for delinking one or more entity references linked to a same entity is provided, where the one or more entity references have at least one common data field. The method comprises the steps of evaluating at least one actual measurement of the entity based at least in part on one or more field values of the one or more entity references, determining a difference between the at least one actual measurement and at least one predefined measurement associated with the entity and delinking the one or more entity references based at least in part on a comparison of the difference and a defined threshold.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for selecting a diverse mix of content items that may be displayed to a user. Content items such as user-generated events are received from a variety of sources. One or more content items are added to a set of content items based on a diversity of characteristics. The diversity of characteristics for the one or more content items may be calculated by measuring a diversity of characteristics of the set as if the one or more content items were added to the set. Content items that produce a greater diversity are selected for addition to the set. The set is displayed to the user, who is provided with a more meaningful mix of content due to the greater diversity in content.

Abstract: A computer implemented method and system for identifying one or more part numbers stored in a digital memory comprises parsing of each part number into its primary and secondary components and assigning a relevance score to each; parsing a query part number into one or more primary and secondary components and assigning a relevance score to each query component; identifying each stored part number that has at least one component that matches a query component; calculating for each identified part number a first sum equal to the sum of the relevance scores of the query components that match a component of the identified stored part number; and a second sum equal to the sum of the relevance scores of the components of the identified stored part number that match a query component; and sorting the identified stored part numbers as a function of said first and second sums.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention include concept-service components of content-search-service systems which employ ontologies and vocabularies prepared for particular categories of content at particular times in order to score transcripts prepared from content items to enable a search-service component of a content-search-service system to assign estimates of the relatedness of portions of a content item to search criteria in order to render search results to clients of the content-search-service system. The concept-service component processes a search request to generate lists of related terms, and then employs the lists of related terms to process transcripts in order to score transcripts based on information contained in the ontologies.

Abstract: Processing user-submitted updates based on user reliability scores is described. A system calculates an update score, for an update submitted by a user, based on a similarity of a field value provided by the update to corresponding field values in identified records. The system calculates a user score based on update scores, including the update score, calculated for corresponding updates submitted by the user. The system processes the update based on the user score.

Abstract: Methods, software and devices for responding to a user query are disclosed. A user query received from a user is matched to stored responses to obtain initial matched responses. A confidence metric indicating the likelihood of the initial matched responses satisfying the user query is calculated. Upon determining the confidence metric to be below a specified threshold, the user query is supplemented with contextual data. The user query, supplemented by contextual data, is further matched to stored responses by applying disparate matching techniques to obtain further matched responses, where at least one of the disparate matching techniques differs from techniques used to obtain the initial matched responses. Degree-of-match metrics are calculated taking into account the contextual data, where each degree-of-match metric indicates a quality of match between the user query and a matched response. At least one of the matched responses is presented to the user.

Abstract: An on-disk storage arrangement increases the number of persistent consistency point images (PCPIs) that may be maintained for a volume of a storage system. The on-disk storage arrangement comprises a novel volume information (volinfo) block representing a root of the volume; the volinfo block is stored at predefined locations on disk and comprises various system wide configuration data. The volinfo block further comprises a data structure configured to provide a level of indirection that increases the number of PCPIs maintainable by a file system executing on the storage system. To that end, the data structure may be organized as an array of pointers, wherein each pointer references a block containing a snapshot root, thereby enabling efficient access to each PCPI maintained by the file system.

Abstract: A method of planning a trip which comprises receiving a plurality of profile characteristics from a user, automatically selecting a group from a plurality of travel objects according to a match with the profile characteristics where each travel object having a plurality of scheduling characteristics. The method further includes computing an arrangement of members of the group in a schedule according to the plurality of profile characteristics and receiving an update to one or more of members, the schedule, the arrangement and/or the profile characteristics. Now, the arrangement is automatically updated so that one or more of the travel objects are rescheduled according to a relationship between its scheduling characteristics and respective scheduling characteristics of other travel objects in light of the profile characteristics.

Abstract: A system and method for classifying documents via propagation are provided. Text highlighted by a user within at least one document is identified. The document is associated with a classification code based on the highlighted text. At least a portion of the highlighted text is compared with one or more unclassified documents. Those unclassified documents with text that is the same as the compared portion of the highlighted text in the document are identified. The classification code of the document is automatically assigned to the identified unclassified documents with text that is the same. Further, those unclassified documents with text that is similar to the compared portion of the highlighted text in the document are identified. The unclassified documents with similar text are provided to the user for review and classification.

Abstract: Equivalent concepts expressed across multiple domains are matched and associated with a metapage generated by a social networking system. User preferences expressed on multiple domains, represented as pages in a social networking system, may be organized by concept and shared with advertisers, third-party developers, and other users of the social networking system using the metapages generated for the concepts. Aggregated social information may be presented to users of the social networking system viewing a page associated with a metapage. Information presented on external websites may be used to link pages across multiple domains with a metapage generated on the social networking system. In one embodiment, the information on other external websites associated with the metapage may be presented as links on the pages associated with the metapage. Feedback from users may be used to include or exclude pages from being associated with a generated metapage.

Abstract: A method for computerized batching of huge populations of electronic documents, including computerized assignment of electronic documents into at least one sequence of electronic document batches such that each document is assigned to a batch in the sequence of batches and such that there is no conflict between batching requirements, the following batching requirements being maintained by a suitably programmed processor: a. pre-defined subsets of documents are always kept together in the same batch, b. batches are equal in size, c. the population is partitioned into clusters, and all documents in any given batch belong to a single cluster rather than to two or more clusters.

Abstract: A method assigns importance ranks to documents within repositories or databases, such as any database of documents such as books or other printed material, electronic documentation, and pages within the world-wide web. The method uses a corpus of indexed documents that has been annotated to the terms of one or more ontologies in order to assign a semantic similarity score to queries based on terms taken from the ontologies. A statistical model is used to test the significance of matches between query terms and documents or categories. The method results in an acceleration of over 10,000-fold for realistic queries and ontologies, and makes it practicable to calculate P-values dynamically or to keep database annotations and the related P-value distributions up to date by frequent recalculation.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and devices for generating maps on a display of, for example, a mobile device, are presented. In one example, a server, such as a map server, may organize a data structure corresponding to a map based, at least in part, on a received query, estimated location, and/or a current route of a mobile device user. Points of interest (POIs) that may be more relevant to a mobile device user may be transmitted from a map server, for example, prior to POIs that may be less relevant. In one example, a plurality of POIs may be rendered on a display of a mobile device. One or more POIs may be emphasized on the display based on one or more criteria.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a method and apparatus for generating a presentation is provided. The method considers characteristics of audio works and visual works when constructing the presentation. In some embodiments, the presentation may be automatically constructed.

Abstract: Users receive content recommendations from a personalized, generalized recommendation service that aggregates and selects content of high personal relevance to each individual user from a large pool of both personal and public content. The received content is filtered and the content determined to be relevant is cached. When a user request for content is received, the cached content is rescored and the content determined to be most relevant based on satisfaction of a relevance threshold is selected and forwarded to the user. Feedback methodologies are also implemented so that a user's actions are taken into consideration in real time and can affect subsequent recommendations to the user.

Abstract: A framework is provided for composing texts about objects with structured information about these objects, and thus disclosed are methodologies for linking information from at least two data sources—one comprising a plurality of documents comprising text pertaining to at least one object, and one comprising a plurality of structured records comprising at least one characteristic of the at least one object, each characteristic comprising one property name and an associated property value corresponding to the property name for the at least one object—by determining one or more instance-based traits for each object in both data sources and associating at least one record with at least one document that refers to each object, each trait comprising one or more characteristics that identifiably distinguish each object from all other objects.

Abstract: Two methods for measuring keyword-document relevance are described. The methods receive a keyword and a document as input and output a probability value for the keyword. The first method is a similarity-based approach which uses techniques for measuring similarity between two short-text segments to measure relevance between the keyword and the document. The second method is a regression-based approach based on an assumption that if an out-of-document phrase (the keyword) is semantically similar to an in-document phrase, then relevance scores of the in and out-of document phrases should be close to each other.

Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments of systems and methods for recommending relevant users to other users in a user community. In one implementation of such a method, two different sets of data are considered: a) music (or other items) that users have been listening to (or otherwise engaging), and b) music (or other items) recommendations that users have been given. In some embodiments, pre-computation methods allow the system to efficiently compare item sets and recommended item sets among the users in the community. Such comparisons may also comprise metrics that the system can use to figure out which users should be recommended for a given target user.

The one or more prioritization techniques may include at least one of: a semantic centrality analysis that indicates a degree to which a text section is semantically related to at least one other text section, an information content analysis that indicates a degree to which the text section includes information not included in the at least one other text section, or a combined analysis based on the semantic centrality analysis and the information content analysis. The device may prioritize the text sections, to form a set of prioritized text sections, based on performing the one or more prioritization techniques. The device may provide information that identifies the set of prioritized text sections.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method routes a current question to one or more of a plurality of online communities. A computer system can determine, for the current question presented by an asking user a plurality of question-to-question similarity values, a plurality of question-to-user similarity values and a plurality of question-to-community similarity values. The system can select one or more of the plurality of online communities based on the similarity values. The system can route the current question presented by the asking user to the selected one or more of the plurality of online communities.

Abstract: A method for extracting user features based on user behaviors. The method uses webpage clickstream data of a current user to compute a path correlation between the current user and other users, selects a number of other users whose path correlation with the current user ranks among the highest, and then configures weights in connection to preset tags of websites visited by the selected other users, and computes a user correlation between the current user and the selected other users based on the preset tags and the weights. The method constructs weighted-directed graphs of webpage click paths based on click stream data, and converts computing user correlation to computing a similarity of weighted-directed graphs. The method further combines computing correlation of webpage tags to discover the user's clicking habits and personal preferences, and improve the accuracy and efficiency of user clustering.

Abstract: A system and method for creating a scored association map that works in conjunction with advertisement serving technologies to enable multi-screen advertising. The method according to an embodiment of the disclosed subject matter comprises the steps of: (i) the creation of a scored association graph utilizing multiple data elements, (ii) allowing users to synchronize identifiers with the graph, and (iii) enabling users to retrieve elements and data from the graph and via an interface.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure disclose a method for implementing a context aware service application and a related apparatus. One method for implementing a context aware service application includes: receiving, by a context aware service platform, a first context request from a context aware client, where the first context request carries description information corresponding to requested context information; and matching released context sources by using the description information, and if matching succeeds, acquiring context information provided by at least one matched context source, and sending the acquired context information to the context aware client. The technical solutions according to the embodiments of the present disclosure help implement the context aware service application in a flexible and standard manner.
