Abstract: Systems and methods for managing multiple systems in an enterprise resource planning system are provided. In an embodiment, data identifying modules and entities using modules or systems may be collected from each system in enterprise resource planning system. The collected data may then be organized to show a usage landscape of entire enterprise resource planning system. In an embodiment, the collected data may also be merged with other organizational data, such as organizational chart data, to present the usage landscape in an intuitive manner using the organizational structure data from the organizational chart. The collected data may also be used to identify potential data inconsistencies across different systems or may be used to limit connectivity to only authorized systems or modules. In some embodiments, attributes such as attributes identifying modules and entities may be inputted into a system which then distributes the attributes to other systems.

Abstract: Tax returns are received from one or more tax agencies. Each tax return is compared to a stored profile, and a determination is made as to whether each tax return falls within a trend. An evaluation of the tax return is generated based on the comparison and the determination of whether the tax return falls within the trend. The evaluation includes an indication of the tax returns potential to be a fraudulent tax return.

Abstract: A system for analysis of endorsement networks, comprising a data collection server adapted for collecting event data over a data network from a plurality of components associated with an endorsement network, one or more database servers coupled to the data collection server and adapted to store event data pertaining to the endorsement network, and an analysis module coupled to at least one of the database servers, and wherein the analysis module retrieves data pertaining to the endorsement network from at least one of the databases and conducts analysis of said data sufficient at least to determine the graph structure of a significant portion of the endorsement network, is disclosed.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems capture data related to a food item via one or more sensors and narrow the possible identities of the food item by determining the time when the data capture occurred and the location of the food item. A list of nodes based at least in part on the narrowed possible identities is generated to identify the food item and sorted based at least in part on the probability of one or more nodes corresponding to the food item.

Abstract: A system and a method render internet multimedia content in a network using an application to render the internet multimedia content and/or locally stored multimedia content on one or more rendering devices in the network. The application may provide web browser functions, such as, for example, receiving, processing, decoding and/or rendering the internet multimedia content. The application may have an enhanced user interface which may enable a user to select the internet multimedia content and a rendering device in the network, send the internet multimedia content to the rendering device and/or control rendering of the internet multimedia content on the rendering device.

Abstract: A hygiene compliance monitoring system provides a dispenser that is associated with a data collection unit that collects dispensing events, such as the dispensement of material from the dispenser, which occurs during time segments of a predetermined duration. The hygiene event monitoring system also includes a portable data acquisition unit that is in wireless communication with the data collection unit of the dispenser. As such, when the data acquisition unit is brought within the range of reception of the data collection unit, the hygiene compliance data and time segment information are transmitted to the data acquisition unit and stored at a portable memory unit, which is removable. As such, the hygiene compliance data stored on the portable memory unit can be readily transferred to any desired computing device for analysis and report generation.

Abstract: System, process, and computer program product for evaluating a lead are provided. A process for evaluating a lead may include determining whether each incoming lead is duplicative, determining a score for each lead, valuing each lead based on the lead score and outcome data, and determining sales capacity and the motor vehicle dealer's existing need for leads. The process may also include applying business rules to each lead using a processor, where the business rules may include the real-time optimization of sales capacity and lead need of a motor vehicle dealer. The process may further include routing each lead based upon the satisfaction of the business rules.

Abstract: The clustering of LDAP servers wherein each LDAP server is connected to the databases of all other LDAP servers in addition to its own database. This creates a mesh of highly available LDAP servers that are loosely connected to all the repositories of LDAP data in the distributed directory environment. Also broadly contemplated herein is the employment of a cluster manager for managing the cluster of LDAP servers.

Abstract: Architecture that creates a class of role-based scopes that can be declared “exclusive”, which automatically means that no user can access the scope unless the user is granted that exact scope. The exclusive scope excludes an object from the new scopes and existing scopes. In other words, the exclusive scope is a write restriction from a domain scope. The exclusive scope denies user access unless the user is granted the exclusive scope. The exclusive scope can be applied to a group of user objects. The exclusive scope is explicitly assigned to the object to grant access to an exclusive group. Moreover, the exclusive scope is immediately write-protected upon creation.

Abstract: Synchronized distributed media assets is described. In embodiments, a global media catalog of global metadata is maintained for media assets that are accessible by client devices registered to a user. The global metadata corresponds to the media assets that are located remotely from one or more of the client devices. A client device can communicate a request for a media asset that is identified by the global metadata and located at a location remote from the client device.

Abstract: A system, computer readable storage medium, and computer-implemented method performs an intelligent job hunt to determine a sorted set of job openings relevant to a user's career goals. An intelligent job hunt engine uses user profile information to query a job openings index for job's relevant to the user. Results of the query are filtered and sorted according to their relevance to different career goals. A job readiness evaluator determines readiness scores indicative of the user's preparedness for reaching a career goal. Specific action items are generated based on the user's interaction with the sorted job openings and the user's job readiness scores.

Abstract: Media recommendation techniques are described. In an implementation, a similarity value is calculated for a plurality of media using a plurality of similarity functions. A vote is assigned for each similarity value that is above a threshold that is assigned for a respective similarity function and the plurality of media is ranked based at least in part on the assigned votes. A playlist is then created based at least in part on the ranking. Media seed techniques are also described. In an implementation, a set of dissimilar candidates are calculated for a plurality of media using a similarity function in which the set of dissimilar candidates describes the media that is dissimilar in comparison with other media included in the plurality of media. A seed is selected using the set of the dissimilar candidates to create a playlist that includes at least some of the plurality of media.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing access to an information stream in a format customized for a receiving device involve a network-based information storage and distribution system for receiving, storing, and distributing an information stream to a user of the information stream over a network. The system receives media files and converts the media files into multiple formats. When a user attempts to access the media files, such as by browsing a site containing the media files or clicking on a link to the media files, a determination is made as to the type of device attempting to access the files. A database of devices and what file formats, resolutions, codecs, etc., they support is consulted to select a file format suitable for that device. Then, the selected media files are displayed or made available for download or transmission to the user's device in a format compatible with the particular device.

The system receives an e-mail subscription request from a subscriber seeking to subscribe to an information stream, where the e-mail subscription request includes stream-identifying information identifying the information stream to which the subscriber wishes to subscribe; and an e-mail address for the subscriber, which may simply be determined by way of examining the return e-mail address of the e-mail sender from the e-mail. The e-mail is used to determine which information stream is to be subscribed to from the stream-identifying information, and the subscriber's e-mail address is used to provide access to the information stream to the subscriber.

Abstract: There are disclosed systems and methods which provide for an inter-action between unrelated databases such that information provided to a first database by a first provider can be pushed from the first database to a user based, at least in part, on data provided by that user to a second database unrelated to the first database. This then allows a user to have information pushed to him/her based upon information previously obtained from that user or about that user. In one embodiment, the data required from a provider is determined based upon data gathered from other providers for similar items. In another embodiment, the user enters his/her information into one or more databases and the entered information forms the basis for information to be pushed to that user from any database even if the pushed information resides in a non-related database. In some situations certain data is gathered without active participation from the provider.

Abstract: An event recommendation service is described. In embodiments, selection data that correlates to media content selected by a user, location data that corresponds to a location of the user, and event data is received. A recommendation for an event that the user is likely to attend and that is proximate the location of the user can be generated by aggregating the selection data, the location data, and the event data. The recommendation can then be communicated to a user device as a calendar entry, an email message, a text message, and/or an html page for display to inform the user of the event.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for maintaining high propagation availability for non-persistent messages. Destination-to-instance mapping information is provided to a listener process for a cluster database. The destination-to-instance mapping indicates the current owner instance of each single-instance destination within the cluster database. To establish a connection to a single-instance destination, a sending process sends a connection request to the global listener. The connection request identifies the desired destination queue, but not the owner instance of the queue. The global listener for the cluster database uses the destination-to-instance mapping to determine which instance is the current owner of the specified queue, and establishes a connection between the sending process and the appropriate owner instance.

Abstract: A method and a system are provided for managing metadata for occurrences of a recording. In one example, the system receives a recording. The recording includes computer readable media data. The system generates an internal identifier of the recording. The internal identifier is a signature that uniquely identifies the recording. The system then adds the internal identifier to metadata that are associated with at least one occurrence of the recording. The metadata are data that describe the recording.

Abstract: Described is a technology in which a set of objects represent educational entities of an educational model, with relationships between objects. For example, a course object instance may have a relationship with a task instance and a user instance (such as representing a student). Other objects may include user credentials objects, group objects, degree program objects, course plan objects, institution objects, school objects, and/or department objects. The set of objects may be pre-defined and maintained in a persistent storage; this pre-defined set may be extended with an extended object that has relationships with pre-defined objects. The educational entities of an object model may be maintained in rows of a table, with each row having a field that identifies which entity is represented by that row. The table is accessed to determine relationships between an instantiated object for an entity and at least one other instantiated object for another entity.

Abstract: A method for tracking the context around moving objects without some of the disadvantages of the prior art is disclosed. This is done by correlating the spatial information of what is around an object with the temporal (or time) information of an object's movements.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for employing femto technology in an enterprise kiosk are presented herein. A content component can receive multimedia content from a base station coupled to a core network. Further, a transfer component can wirelessly transfer the received multimedia content to a mobile device utilizing a femto based wireless protocol based on, at least in part, a sale of the received multimedia content. A database component can store the received multimedia content in a data store, and the transfer component can wirelessly transfer the stored multimedia content to the mobile device utilizing the femto based wireless protocol. The transfer component can alternatively record the received multimedia content in a removable data storage device.

Abstract: A database system combines a general ledger and a multi-dimensional database. The general ledger and multi-dimensional database are mapped such that relationships between the general ledger and multi-dimensional database are characterized with metadata dimensions. Using the mapping, data can be received into the general ledger and stored in both the general ledger and multi-dimensional database substantially simultaneously. Further, a synchronization of the data copies changes to the data automatically from the general ledger to the multi-dimensional database. Thus, there is no manual copying of data between the general ledger and the database. Further, the latency between the general ledger and database is minimal ensuring accurate analysis even contemporaneous with the input of the data.

Abstract: A computer-implemented process and system for the distribution of resources such as funds to not-for-profit (NFP) entities or other organizations. The system may include a resource accumulation module for acquiring and keeping track of resources, a resource division module for initially determining what to do with resources that have been acquired, an education module for teaching users about the entities or their respective causes, an evaluation module for determining whether a user is eligible to vote on the distribution of resources, and a voting module through which users may choose the resource recipients. In one embodiment, resources may be obtained at least in part from the commissions generated by real estate transactions. In addition, users and/or voters may include students around the world, and organizations may include various NFPs, also located around the world.

Abstract: A media identification system generates reference fingerprints for known media samples and stores the reference fingerprints in a reference database. The media identification system uses the reference fingerprints to match a fingerprint generated from an unknown media sample to identify that unknown sample. When storing new reference fingerprints in the reference database, partitions of the database are selected to balance the search loads on the database when it is used by the media identification system. For example, the selected partitions may be determined based at least in part on the access rates of the partitions by the media identification system. New reference fingerprints will tend to be placed in partitions that have relatively lower access rates that the other partitions, which will tend to balance the search loads on the partitions by the media identification system.

The memory stores the component make-up for each of a number of products. The method also includes assembling user samples that represent a total amount of impression inventory, where each user sample represents a number of internet users, calculating a value associated with each piece of remaining impression inventory of the total impression inventory, and evaluating the value of all remaining impression inventory before and after allocation to a contract by maximizing and equation subject to a set of constraints. The base price for the contract corresponds to the difference between the value of the inventory before and after allocation.

Once the attributes and values are assigned, the annotated URI along with the attributes and values is stored. Another method provides for sharing of the annotated information. A user may communicate annotated information to an external storage system for sharing with other users having access to the external storage system. Another method provides for automatic updates of the annotation entries by periodically fetching the digital information associated with each URI and updating the values associated with each attribute.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for defining a globally-standardized system of addressing for parcels of land is disclosed. The system utilizes physical characteristics of land parcels to identify the unique address and location of said land parcels (herein also referred to as the NSE coordinates) in a global coordinate system. In a preferred embodiment, the geographical center of the land parcel is determined and used as the defining physical characteristic of the land parcel. That geographical center is mapped against the latitude and longitude system currently used as a standard to define positions on the Earth. This method provides an alternative to the various addressing conventions established by national, regional or local governmental entities. The method is adapted to execution on either a general purpose or special purpose computer system to transform physical characteristics of land parcels into useful address and location information and tangible display representations.

Abstract: A method of the combination of patent applicants or patent inventors in a patent analysis comprises following steps: (a) creating a name database, which comprises a plurality of applicants' or inventors' name sheets and each of the name sheets includes different names of one applicant or one inventor; wherein each of the name sheets has a corresponding sheet title; (b) creating a thematic patent database of specific technical theme through patent searching among the patent literatures of all the countries in the world; (c) searching in the thematic patent database by using said sheet title as the search field, and matching applicants' or inventors' names in said thematic patent database with names in said name sheet, then marking the matched patents; and (d) combining names of applicants or inventors in said marked patents. The use of this method can improve the combination efficiency of patent applicants or patent inventors greatly.

Abstract: Techniques are described herein for providing protocol extensions to the WS-Enumeration protocol. A selection protocol extension to the WS-Enumeration protocol enables retrieval of partial representations of objects from a directory server. The partial representations include attributes of the objects that are designated via the selection protocol extension. A sorting protocol extension to the WS-Enumeration protocol enables sorting of objects (or partial representations thereof) to be retrieved from a directory server. The selection and sorting protocol extensions are defined in respective XML elements that are distinct from an XML element that defines an object request including a query filter for selecting objects in the directory server. The selection and sorting protocol extensions may be used independently from each other. The computer languages utilized by the aforementioned XML elements need not necessarily be the same. For instance, a different computer language may be used for each.

Abstract: In various embodiments, a method is described that includes registering a mobile device with an enterprise by storing registration data for the mobile device in a device management database; designating one or more group designations for the mobile device; storing the one or more group designations in the device management database; determining one or more policies for the mobile device based at least in part on the one or more group designations; and selectively taking action on selected data from the mobile device in the device management database based on the one or more policies.
