Abstract: In an embodiment of the invention, an electronic document (e-document) can be searched and found by capturing an image of the printed document. Instead of typing in a file name or searching through multiple directories, the user simply takes a picture of the document with a camera and the system uses the document image to locate the e-document. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, an image of a printed document can be useful for remote document sharing. In various embodiments of the invention, sharing an image of a printed document can be used to email a high quality paper document, send a high quality fax, or open a document to a page containing an annotation. Through co-design of the feature extraction and search algorithm in the system, the image feature detection robustness and search speed are improved at the same time.

Abstract: The application discloses a new system for performing queries and entity resolution on two or more data sources without having to ETL all the documents, entities, and descriptions of entities. Also disclosed, is a method to perform advanced entity resolution without divulging personally sensitive information to end-users and intermediate systems.

Abstract: A system for use in storage of advertisements in a personal account at an online service is provided. The online service may be configured to serve data to a client device to cause the client device to display a graphical user interface. The system may include a search interface to receive a search query input by a user and to display search results and one or more advertisements generated from a search engine of the online service in response to the search query, a selector configured to receive a user command to save a selected advertisement in the personal account for later viewing and/or traversal of a hyperlink embedded in the advertisement, and a personal account interface to display a saved advertisement in the personal account.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for social based assistance in a source code control system are provided. The method includes selecting a segment of source code and parsing the selected segment of source code to identify one or more syntax terms. The method also includes searching source files for the one or more syntax terms to locate matching results, where the source files are managed by the source code control system. The method further includes scoring the matching results of the searching as a function of developer activity associated with the matching results. The method additionally includes identifying one or more developers with the highest degree of matching based on the scoring.

Abstract: A presentation system provided for use on a network. The presentation system includes an index and one or more modules. The index that stores gallery information, the gallery including (i) information that identifies a plurality of galleries, and (ii) data corresponding to renditions of individual media objects that comprise at least a portion of each of the plurality of galleries. The one or more modules may be configured to (i) receive a selection criteria, (ii) use the selection criteria to identify, from the index, one or more galleries from the index, and (iii) generate a presentation that includes renditions of at least some of the plurality of media objects that comprise the identified one or more galleries.

Abstract: A user interface provides for contextual navigation in locating desired content based on similarity/dissimilarity criteria. Each item that is identified in a device is provided with at least one multi-dimensional descriptor. A content of each item can be stored remotely from the device. A search criteria is selected that relates to the descriptor and a selected active item. A search is conducted to identify all other items identified in the device that have a relationship with the search criteria. The results are presented to the user and can be ranked according to a selected relationship order.

Abstract: The invention provides a method, system, and program product for preserving data views in an information space. A first aspect of the invention provides a method of preserving data views encountered as a user browses an information space, the method comprising: creating an empty path to be taken by a user through an information space assigning a uniform resource locator (URL) to the path; presenting a data view of the information space; assigning a URL to the data view; and adding the data view to the path. A path may contain one or more data views or, when created, no data views.

Abstract: A search mechanism for users of search engines includes a back-end information retrieval system which accepts terms and weights thereof as input set from a front-end and processes said set. Abstract: A hosted relational database can be securely accessed by application developers, relieving the developer of the need to engage in server side development. A database programming API is accessible from a browser-based application that abstracts details of client/server HTTP communication with the database. This results in a reduction in software development because the developer's application does not require server-side programming or database installation and administration. There is a consummate reduction in hardware costs for the application developer, since those costs are borne by the hosted database provider. One or more physical database systems are segmented into virtual databases. The owner of a virtual database configures the data model through a web-based user interface. Parameterized queries and relationships between tables are also created using the web-based interface.

Abstract: Improved visual context management techniques are disclosed. By way of example, a technique for updating an existing visual display to incorporate new information comprises obtaining new information requested by a subsequent user query, and dynamically deriving one or more visual transformations for updating at least a portion of the existing display to incorporate the new information, wherein the transformation derivation is modeled as an optimization operation which attempts to balance visual context management constraints and to achieve a desired presentation of intended information.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for presenting information relating to event-based data aggregated in an event-based data aggregation system. A dashboard interface is presented which includes report summary data for each of a plurality of reports to which a user has access. Each report corresponds to a subset of the event-based data derived with reference to an associated report rule set. At least one of the report rules sets is editable by the user. The report summary data are updated in response to detection of new event-based data being added to the event-based data aggregation system which match a first one of the report rule sets.
