  • Patent number: 8650569
Abstract: A data processing system comprising an operating system for supporting processes, such that the process are associated with one or more resources and the operating system being arranged to police the accessing by processes of resources so as to inhibit a process from accessing resources with which it is not associated. Part of this system is an interface for interfacing between each process and the operating system and a memory for storing state information for at least one process. The interface may be arranged to analyze instructions from the processes to the operating system, and upon detecting an instruction to re-initialize a process cause state information corresponding to that pre-existing state information to be stored in the memory as state information for the re-initialized process and to be associated with the resource.

  • Patent number: 8646045
Abstract: Authentication mechanisms are disclosed herein that authenticate user access to enterprises. For example, either an enterprise associated number or a social security number (SSN) can be provided to the enterprise to enter a first level. Then, any one of a ZIP code number, a device calling/contacting number, a date of birth, and a portion of the SSN can be provided to access applications in the first level. Lastly, a PIN can be provided to enter a second level of the enterprise. Additionally, these authentication mechanisms can be added and/or changed. In the former case, if a user used a SSN to enter the mentioned first level of the enterprise, then a date of birth can be used to update an authentication mechanism. Alternatively, if a user used an enterprise number to gain such access, then part of the SSN can be used for the update. If the user wants to change the authentication mechanism, the date of birth can be used for the update.

  • Patent number: 8626869
Abstract: When sending data, an ECU sends time lag information indicating a time lag that is a difference between time of generating time point at which the data is generated and time of sending start time point at which the ECU actually starts sending the data. When transferring the data, a relay apparatus adds time lag information indicating a time lag that is a difference between time of receiving start time point at which the relay apparatus starts receiving the data and time of transferring start time point at which the relay apparatus starts transferring the data, onto the time lag added on the received data. When receiving the data, an ECU determines for the received data the time of the generating time point that is earlier the time lag indicated by the time lag information of the received data than the time at which the ECU starts receiving the data.

  • Patent number: 8601165
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for synchronization in networks, whereby the local time (tloc) which is valid at the particular node, is updated at different nodes. For that purpose, timing messages are regularly transmitted by a freely selectable superior node (N1; N3; N6) and only by a superior node to an inferior node (N2, N3; N4-N6; N7), which receives the timing messages (M1-M8) and analyzes said messages for updating the local time (tloc) thereof. A minimum propagation time (dmin) is determined for a timing message (M1-M8) between an inferior node (N1; N3; N6) and a superior node (N2, N3; N4-N6; N7). When the inferior node (N2, N3; N4-N6; N7) receives a timing message (M1-M8), said inferior node extracts the local time of the superior node (N1; N3), which is contained in said timing message (M1-M8) and adds the minimum propagation time (dmin) thereto, in order to generate a reference time (tcomp,1-tcomp,8). Said reference time (tcomp,1-tcomp,8) is then compared with the proper local time (tloc).

Abstract: Various embodiments of a system and method for each node in a cluster including a peer-to-peer communication channel compiling and maintaining its own cluster membership are disclosed. In one embodiment, each cluster node may be coupled to every other node and commonly-accessible storage through a network. When a node starts up and attempts to join the cluster, it may access cluster information data stored in the commonly-accessible storage. This information may include a list of all nodes that are potential cluster members. Based on the cluster membership information, the joining node may request a peer-to-peer connection with each potential cluster member. When such a request results in establishment of a connection, the joining node may add the name of the target node to its cluster membership list. Likewise, when a member node grants a connection to a node, it may add the joining node to its cluster membership list.

Abstract: The inventive system includes a host, a network including a security gateway, and a public application. Established are an access session between the network and the host and an application session between the public application and the network. An application session record is created for the application session, and includes the user's public user identity used to access the public application, the user's private user identity used to access the network, a host identity, and an application session time. To determine the private user identity for the application session, the security gateway sends a query with the host identity and the application session time. These are compared with the host identity and access session time in an access session record. If they match, then the private user identity in the access session record is returned, and it is stored as the private user identity in the application session record.

A table, associated with an overlay MIB structure, is populated with entries. Each entry defines an object identifier (OID) of a mount point and an OID of a mount target. A selection is made between the existing OIDs and OIDs corresponding to a MIB overlay. When management communication refers to managed objects, they can be referred to in terms of OIDs defined by the MIB overlay, as an alternative to their existing OIDs. An agent infrastructure is defined to support the MIB overlay structure.

Abstract: A traffic network having a wired as well as a wireless network backbone is managed. The wireless network backbone has relay nodes having wireless routers, some acting as gateways to the wired backbone network and some as relay bridge routers for access network access. A management system has a logical multilevel hierarchical network overlying the traffic network. It is adapted to use the relay nodes as management stations. It performs a grouping process by arranging network nodes, including the relay nodes, in groups, each with a cluster head, on different hierarchical levels. A grouping controller controls the grouping and allocation of cluster heads based on a number of grouping constraints given by one or more criteria to be fulfilled at each hierarchical level. The criteria are calculated based on given metrics, the constraints are modeled, and fulfillment of the constraints is verified at each hierarchical level.

Abstract: File access rates of processes are regulated according to file type. An association table stores entries associating processes to be regulated with specific access rates for various file types. System calls that access files are intercepted, and a system call wrapper executes. The system call wrapper determines the type of file that is being accessed by the process. The system call wrapper examines the association table in order to determine if the calling process is associated with an access rate for the file type being accessed. If so, the system call wrapper regulates access to the file according to the appropriate rate.
