Abstract: The invention relates to multimedia page editing via a terminal. A server supplies multimedia pages to the terminal in the form of object arrangement commands for objects identified by parameters. A method according to the invention comprises a preliminary step wherein the server transmits all or part of the object-related parameters as well as a store command, whereby the parameters are stored in a terminal memory; and a main step wherein the server transmits a simple parameter retrieval command for editing at least one multimedia page in which the above-mentioned object appears.

Abstract: A user interface tag for use in processing a service on a scannable document is provided. A printable surface is on one side of the scannable document and an adhesive surface is on another side of the scannable document. The printable surface further includes a printed data field specified substantially within the printable surface, including machine-readable marks of digital data encoding a service code and a user identification number; and a printed rectilinear border surrounding the printed data field to define a rectilinear iconic representation. A scanned representation of the machine-readable marks is located by identifying the printed rectilinear border using corner candidates oriented in diametric opposition from among connected components identified on the document and the scanned representation of the machine-readable marks are decoded from the rectilinear iconic representation to specify the user identification number and the service code.

Abstract: An electronic mail management system is operable to receive electronic mail message components from a user. Prior to sending of the email message, a plurality of predetermined categories for classifying the electronic message are presented to the user. The email system receives a user selection from the predetermined categories. A determination is made as to whether or not the email recipient is a member of a predetermined class of recipients. The electronic mail is then sent to the recipient. The user selection is embedded within the email message if the recipient is a member of the predetermined class of recipients. Finally, the email is stored in a manner dependent upon the user selection. Similarly, the email management server may also be operable to categorize received email messages. Further, email messages may be selected or programmed to automatically be deleted upon certain events.

Abstract: Web page optimization systems and methods are disclosed herein. In one implementation, a number of master pages and page layouts used to generate the web pages are defined. A number of channels are then defined to be associated with certain ones of the master pages and the page layouts. User device generating the request, a browser used to generate the request, and other suitable components of a user agent string in a web page request is then identified. A web page is rendered in response to the identified components of the user agent string using the master page and the page layout associated with a channel identified by such components of the web page request.

In an embodiment, a screen selection corresponding to a size of a screen upon which to render a magazine edition is received, the magazine edition including a content page with one or more articles. A grid with grid segments is calculated for the selected screen size. A layout for the content page is determined, the layout including a tile of one or more of the grid segments corresponding to each of the articles. Content associated with each of the articles is determined. The content of each of the articles is arranged for display within its corresponding tile. The content page of the magazine edition is displayed, the displayed page including the articles arranged for display within its corresponding tile.

Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for processing multi-modal collaboration. In an embodiment communication received from multiple modes are converted into a common format. Using various conversion modules, the communication may be converted into a common electronic text format (e.g. ASCII text) that contains keywords. Once the communication is converted into a common format, the information contained in the communication may be analyzed and consolidated into related areas or topics. The consolidated information may then be searched for common references in order to augment the information context.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and storage mediums for providing multi-media content storage and management services are provided. A method includes, from a single user interface: creating a library of content items, creating at least one other content item that includes an electronic greeting, and associating at least one component of the library with the electronic greeting to form an arrangement. The electronic greeting includes an electronic greeting card and a personalized message. The electronic greeting also includes a gift associated with a unique code. The gift includes one or more of a: music selection, movie, computer game, and video game. The gift is retrievable via electronic download upon entry of the unique code.

Abstract: Tools and techniques for media portability and compatibility for different destination platforms are provided. These tools may receive commands to launch a media portability capability, and may receive source media as input for transformation. These tools may also receive indications of profile settings for specifying how to transform the source media for enhanced portability on destination systems for playback. The source media may be transformed in response to the profile setting, with the transformed media inserted into a document. The tools may then distribute the document to the destination system for playback.

Abstract: A computer readable storage medium comprises executable instructions to receive a report for access by a user. The report is divided into sections and each section is tokenized based on the user's interests. A section score is calculated for each section in the report. One or more sections are selected for display to the user according to their section scores. The one or more sections are delivered to the user.

Abstract: A system, method and various user interfaces provide an embedded web-based video player for navigating video playlists and playing video content. A website publisher can create and store a video player with customized parameters (e.g., player type, appearance, advertising options, etc.) and can associate the player with a playlist of selected videos. The stored video player is associated with a player ID in a player database and can be embedded in a website using an embed code referencing the player ID. A user interface for the embedded player provides controls for controlling video playback and for controlling the selection of a video from the playlist.

Abstract: A content management system (CMS) uses a simulated containment report generation mechanism to generate a simulated containment report for elements in the repository based on logged properties that represent potential use of the element during dynamic content delivery that are not represented in formal relationships in the content management system. Properties such as probability, popularity, and recent usage that are not explicit relationships between parent documents and child elements are logged and used to determine which document maps may potentially reuse a selected element. In this manner a simulated containment report can be created for an element that allows the user to see the document maps that are most likely to include the element.

Abstract: Methods and systems related to the display of primary and secondary search results are provided. Search results are displayed to the user without requiring the user to perform any tasks to view the entire set of search results. The user may then request secondary searches based on the displayed primary search results through performing a single action. Secondary search results are displayed along with the primary search results.

Abstract: Multimedia content is featured on user pages of an online social network using embed codes that are generated using a configuration file associated with the source ID for the multimedia content and a content ID for the multimedia content. The configuration file, the source ID and the content ID are stored locally by the online social network so that any changes to the embed codes can be made by changing the configuration file associated with the source and regenerating the embed codes. By managing multimedia content in this manner, greater control can be exercised by the online social network over the multimedia content that are featured on its user pages.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for rendering an image-based reflowable file. The image-based reflowable file may be configured to adapt itself to be rendered on various sized displays, such as by permitting lines of reflow objects to “reflow” according to the given size of a display. An image-based reflowable file may include one or more reflow objects, where each reflow object forms a sub-image and is defined in a bounding region. Rendering an image-based reflowable file may include determining a horizontal render position and a vertical render position for each bounding region.

Abstract: A computer program product for standardizing the appearance of related accessories installed on a base product. The base product and related accessories can be visualized from a plurality of view-angles on a configurator application. An accessory is loaded onto the base product by an image transformation tool that manipulates the accessory to fit onto the base product. The transformed accessory is saved as a t-matrix profile for each view-angle of the base product, and the t-matrix profiles are associated with an accessory classification, which includes additional accessories that similarly fit the base product. The visualization data associated with the base product can then be updated with the t-matrix profiles. A customer GUI is provided for viewing the accessories fitted onto the base product where the transformations can automatically transform other accessories in the same accessory classification on the base product. In an embodiment, the base product is a vehicle.

Abstract: A system and method applied to a communications network which transmits document portions in which an original document portion having an identifier portion and an information portion is replaced or swapped with a substitute document portion. The system has a controller, typically a proxy server, for reading the identifier portion of the original document portion, determining the information portion of the original document portion, and issuing a swap order when an undesired original document portion is found. A substitute document server receives the swap order and sends the substitute document portion to the controller. A swapping device or mechanism inserts the substitute document portion in place of the original document portion and the substitute document portion is passed on to the user set and displayed. The controller and swapping mechanism can be integrated with the user set or with the resources of the service provider and their functionality can reside in software.

The functionality of the ad and/or analytics module is integrated into the player code to allow tracking of analytics and inserting advertising into the video.

Abstract: An electronic book is provided with a soundtrack, to which a reader can listen while reading the electronic book. The soundtrack accompanies and enhances the reading experience, in which readers generally have images in their minds based on the story or other visual media that is part of the electronic book. Playback of the soundtrack is synchronized with the visual display of the electronic book. Audio cues are associated with different points in the text and these cues are dynamically played back in synchronization with the visual display of the electronic book based on the interaction of the user with the electronic book. The dynamic playback involves editing and playing an audio cue so that it has a duration that is based on a prediction of the duration of the portion of the electronic book with which the cue is synchronized. When the system starts playing an audio cue, it predicts when the next audio cue should start.

Abstract: When a browsing computer navigates to a network document, such as a web page, the corresponding server also downloads computer readable formatting information necessary for the operating system of the browsing computer to render non-standard characters within the network document. An installation module is also downloaded to the browsing computer. The installation module is loaded onto the browsing computer which in turn either permanently installs or temporarily exposes the operating system of the browsing computer to the computer readable formatting information. As a result, the operating system of the browsing computer is able to display the network document including the non-standard characters.

Abstract: Displaying graphical indicators, instead of data, based on user-defined conditions. The user can specify conditions for displaying graphical indicators instead of actual data by specifying a test, values, and an image. The graphical indicators can be pre-assigned images that are dynamically applied based on the underlying text or numeric data values. Graphical indicators allow the user to visually represent data types or categories with graphics, based on the user's conditions. Different conditions can be specified for a given data field and each condition can be associated with a particular graphical indicator. Prioritized processing of data conditions allow for complex control of which indicator will be displayed to visually represent the data. When the underlying data in a field changes, the criteria can be reapplied and the field dynamically updated to the appropriate indicator.
