Abstract: A method, system, computer program product, and related business methods for concisely communicating real-time business information to end users in an enterprise network is described. An integrated business system having at least ERP and CRM functionality is accessed via a browser-based user interface. A plurality of portlet windows are simultaneously displayed within a browser window, each portlet window occupying a relatively small area therein. The portlet windows are selected and arranged according to a customizable user profile for each user, and include reporting portlets displaying up-to-date business results retrieved from the integrated business system. Each reporting portlet further comprises report access links associated with at least one of the business results that, when selected by the user, invoke browser-based displays of up-to-date business data underlying those business results.

Abstract: Multimedia content is featured on user pages of an online social network using embed codes that are generated using a configuration file associated with the source ID for the multimedia content and a content ID for the multimedia content. The configuration file, the source ID and the content ID are stored locally by the online social network so that any changes to the embed codes can be made by changing the configuration file associated with the source and regenerating the embed codes. By managing multimedia content in this manner, greater control can be exercised by the online social network over the multimedia content that are featured on its user pages.

Abstract: A design in a markup language for rendering a report may be generated such that the design and conditions associated therewith are written in a single markup language. Based on this arrangement, both the design and the conditions may be parsed according to a pre-defined grammar to facilitate rapid debugging.

Abstract: When a photo album on an event such as wedding is generated, images to be inserted in image insertion areas in a template can be selected easily. A professional photographer photographs the bride and groom on the day of wedding, and obtains images. Characteristic quantities of scenes represented by the images are calculated, and the images are classified into image groups of the scenes. With reference to a reference-value sequence table describing reference values of the characteristic quantities of the scenes in the event in order of occurrence of the scenes, the image groups are arranged in order of the scene occurrence. A catalog of the images is generated in the same order, and displayed in an editing screen.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus implementing techniques to embed files in an electronic document. User input specifies files to be embedded in an electronic document and metadata to be associated with the specified files in the electronic document. The specified files are embedded in the electronic document in response to the input. A manifest is created in the electronic document. The manifest includes representations of each of the embedded files and the specified metadata. Each representation of the metadata is associated in the manifest with representations of one or more corresponding files of the embedded files. The manifest includes presentation information defining how the representations will be presented to a user.

Abstract: A system provides a form manager that defines an electronic form comprising a field to populate with a data object. The form manager further defines a schema associated to the form. The schema describes the data object. The form manager further defines a variation rule for the electronic form. The variation rule describes a variation that may occur in the data object. The variation rule represents variation processing to be dynamically applied to the electronic form in response to detecting the variation.

Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the reproduction of multimedia includes an input unit for receiving a SMIL document, a SMIL analyzer for analyzing the SMIL document and generating a DOM tree based thereon, a control table generator for generating a predetermined control table with reference to the DOM tree and a media reproducing unit for reproducing a media data of the SMIL document. The apparatus also includes a controller for controlling the media reproducing unit with reference to the control table. A method for controlling reproduction of multimedia also analyzes a SMIL document. Through the apparatus and method, the multimedia data is effectively controlled in a limited resource system in which a multi-processing is not supported.

Abstract: A document processing apparatus has a data exchange processor for inputting plural first structured documents, extracting contents included in the respective first structured documents, and creating second structured documents respectively corresponding to the first structured documents and having a predetermined data structure, a data unification processor for unifying the plural second structured documents into a third structured document, a layout processor for arranging plural rectangles in a predetermined area based on rectangular size information included in the third structured document, and a rendering processor for rendering the contents corresponding to the respective rectangles described in the third structured document.

Abstract: Systems and methods directed at providing browser sensitive web content are provided. A web server is configured to receiving a request from a client and to identify a browser in the client from which the request was initiated. A browser specific cascading style sheet (CSS) corresponding to the identified browser is determined. The browser specific CSS includes instructions that enable the browser to handle elements that are provided by a certain version of a CSS standard. The web server incorporates the browser specific CSS into web content and provides the web content with the browser specific CSS to the client in response to the request.

Abstract: A method for automatic media population of a style presentation comprises collecting presentation media; positioning the collected presentation media on a storyboard; and selecting a style presentation; wherein the selection of the style presentation results in the automatic population of the style presentation with the presentation media positioned on the storyboard is described herein.

Abstract: A system produces a storage area network resource management report view by obtaining at least one report definition containing report parameters that specify a report layout for presentation of data in the graphical user interface. The system receives a report request to view data in a report view and obtains a data set corresponding to the report request. The data set includes data values to be presented as the data in the graphical user interface. The system applies the data values in the data set to the corresponding report parameters in the at least one report definition to populate the report layout specified by the at least one report definition to dynamically generate at least one report view. The system provides the at least one report view for rendering in the graphical user interface. The system also provides the ability to create custom report views without requiring programming language skills.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include a method for aligning and laying out drawing elements in a computer-aided design drawing and computer-readable medium storing instructions for implementing the method. Specifically, one embodiment of the present invention sets forth a method, which includes the steps of receiving a selection of an insertion point on an object within the CAD drawing, where the drawing element attaches to the object at the insertion point, placing the drawing element at the insertion point, and orienting the drawing element at a predetermined alignment angle relative to the object.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for managing, compiling, and displaying unpredictable digital content received from a plurality of sources, such as news information transmitted in RSS feeds. A layout may be selected from multiple display templates, each having slots for the segments of media that are received. Selection of the templates may be based on the properties of the segments. Further systems and methods are directed to displaying at least a portion of non-textual digital content, such as video and pictures, in a nested view designated for the non-textual graphical content. In one example, the portion of non-textual digital content presented in the nested view is determined by the properties of the non-textual digital content. In other instances, the quantity of the non-textual data may determine what portion is displayed in the nested view.

Abstract: A search and find user interface is provided that is integrated with a data indexing engine to allow efficient and high-speed data search and retrieval across data storage folders associated with a given software module or associated with a number of disparate software modules. An expanded form of the search and find user interface is provided for advanced searching. Where searching is required beyond a present search scope, an automatic “upscoping” mechanism is provided for expanding a search to data storage folders outside a current data storage folder on which an initial search is executed.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media for automatically and securely citing and transferring electronically formatted information and for maintaining association between the cited or transferred information and back-end information are disclosed. According to one method, a selection of media content copied from an electronic source is received. The selection of media content is inserted into an electronic destination. Citation information is automatically determined for the selection of media content by parsing a data structure provided by an author or publisher of the media content. The citation information is automatically inserted into the electronic destination. The inserted selection of media content and the citation are made uneditable.

The modular content framework may include a file format container associated with modular parts. A file format includes logically separate modular parts that are associated with each other by one or more relationships where each modular part is associated with a relationship type. The modular parts include a presentation part representing a start part for the presentation, a slide master part associated with the presentation part, and a slide layout part associated with the slide master part. The modular parts may also include a document properties part containing built-in properties associated with the file format, a thumbnail part containing associated thumbnails, and a slide part containing a slide in the presentation. Each modular part is capable of being interrogated separately, extracted from the presentation, and/or reused in a different presentation.

In one implementation, a computer system is provided that comprises an editor for editing a UI document, a pagination engine for paginating the UI document, and a pagination display for displaying a paginated document representation with respect to the UI document. The editor may be interfaced to the pagination engine so that the pagination engine paginates the user interface description document while being edited for a plurality of device categories. Further, the pagination engine may be interfaced to the pagination display so that the pagination display displays a paginated document representation for each device category with respect to the current editing status of the UI document.

Abstract: A system and method for graphically showing the animation order of animated elements in a presentation program or other software. The invention consists of a User Interface (UI) widget which shows the order of the animation in the presentation. This UI employs an animation On Object User Interface (OOUI), or animation tag, that is preferably a rectangular control that encloses a number, and labels the order in which objects are animated. Each animation OOUI or animation tag is associated with an object on a display during creation and editing. The animation OOUI or tag is preferably placed in close proximity to the object it is associated with, rather than in a separate window or dialog box, and is hence termed ‘On Object’. The animation tag is active and responds to computer input device selection actions. Each animation OOUI is typically associated with an animation list.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for formatting a computer-generated document for output, such as printing, is provided. Information necessary to generate a document is extracted from a database. The extraction program assigns a layout identifier to each data record retrieved from the database based on the type of information contained within the data record and how the information is to be formatted in the document. A layout program assigns specific layout parameters to each layout identifier, which specify the placement of an associated print data record within a document. Next, a formatting program applies the set of layout parameters to a data stream containing a plurality of data records to create a formatted document. The various elements of the invention such as the data extraction program, the database, the layout program and the formatter, may be integrated into a single software program, co-resident on a single computer system, or distributed across various computer systems on a network.

Abstract: Users are shown how a web page has been modified from a previous version. Information related to differences between the current version of the web page and a previous version of the web page is provided in response to user-initiated activity within a predefined region of the current version of the web page. In some embodiments, when a user attempts to activate a feature of the web page at a location associated with a former location of the feature in a previous version of the page, the feature is activated, but update information related to the differences between the previous and current versions of the web page is displayed over at least a portion of the information generated by activation of the feature. In some embodiments, the user is required to perform a specific action in order to clear the display of the update information.

Abstract: This invention relates to a document processing apparatus and method for a structured document formed by grouping original pages. The document processing apparatus according to this invention controls display of the image objects of either or both of a document structure and an original page contained in the document. The document processing apparatus includes an editor which edits the document so as to insert a new group containing a designated original page to a designated position in accordance with designation of the original page and the position on the displayed image objects. Display of the image objects is controlled for the document edited by the editor.

Abstract: A context of media content is represented by hierarchical context description data for describing a plurality of segments. Each of the segments represents a scene of media content. Scores that are attribute information of the media content, and for representing a degree of importance of each of the plurality of segments based on a context of the media content including scenes, is input and/or appended, as an attribute, to a number of the hierarchical layers of the description data. The description data also includes a viewpoint of said media content represented by at least one keyword describing the scenes. One of said plurality of segments is selected based on the viewpoint and/or said the One of the plurality of segments can then be selected based upon the scores.

Abstract: A user selects one or more check boxes on a collection coversheet to identify, by location on the coversheet, target documents within a previously stored collection of documents. The check boxes also specify actions to be performed on the target documents. The coversheet is scanned and the check boxes are located and read to determine which have been marked. The specified actions are then performed on the target documents. If the specified actions change the organization or architecture of the document collection, an updated version of the collection may be generated and stored, and a new coversheet may be printed.

Abstract: A rendering engine that enables access to alternate content determines, based on an accessibility mode, a list of focusable elements associated with a document to be rendered. If the accessibility mode is inactive, the list of focusable elements includes elements that are, by default, focusable. If the accessibility mode is active, the list of focusable elements also includes elements that have associated alternate content, but that are not, by default, focusable. When an accessibility mode is active and an element with associated alternate content is selected, the alternate content is rendered.

Abstract: The website performance monitoring systems and methods of the present invention are implemented via a website monitoring tool that includes a website canvas and a plurality of web page objects configured to be dragged and dropped onto the generic website canvas to facilitate creation of a website model. The monitoring tool also includes a graphic interface which may be utilized to define and associate performance operational rules of a website being modified or created. The performance operational rules include website performance thresholds and rules associated with alerts which may be delivered in response to a website achieving or falling below defined performance alert levels. The monitoring tool also includes a pixel module which may be engaged to assign a plurality of attributes to a pixel associated with a page within the website model.

Abstract: Described is a mechanism for importing data into an outline aware application if the data does not include outline structure, and for creating outline structure in the data based on indicia of visual structure that may be present in the data. In one aspect, data is selected for import into the outline application. The data is devoid of outline structure, such as relative level information or parent/child relationship information. However, the data includes indicia of visual structure, such as markup attributes or tab characters. The outline application (or some related component) transforms the selected data into outline structured data based on the indicia of visual structure.

Abstract: Maintaining data used for performing “what-if” analysis is disclosed. The systems and methods of the invention define an efficient mechanism allowing a user to specify how base values from a database are to be changed. The changes can be held in a local delta cache which is only exposed to a single user, leaving the base data unchanged. The changes can also be maintained in a write-back partition, which results in the changes being exposed to all clients of the database. Values in the write-back partition can be selectively rolled back if required.

Abstract: A method of segmenting relative user preferences into fine-grain and coarse-grain collections is provided. The method includes providing a set of content items having associated descriptive terms. The method also includes receiving user search input and, in response thereto, presenting a subset of content items. The method includes receiving user selection actions and analyzing the selections to learn the user's preferred descriptive terms. The method includes expressing the learned preferred descriptive terms as a segmented probability distribution function having at least one fine grain segment and at least one coarse grain segment. In response to subsequent search input, the method calls for selecting and ordering a collection of content items by promoting the ranking of content items associated with the learned preferred descriptive terms of the user according to the differentiation provided by the segmented probability distribution function.

Abstract: Various embodiments enable particular CSS pseudo-classes to be employed, but limit particular functionality aspects of those pseudo-classes that can lead to divulging personally identifiable information. Thus, various embodiments can change how a CSS pseudo-class is allowed to function. For example, in at least some embodiments, CSS pseudo-classes are permitted to be used to make the visual formatting changes to a web page, but not structural formatting changes. That is, changes that do not affect the structure of content within a web document are allowed, while changes that affect the structure of the content are not allowed.

Abstract: A “path-enhanced” recorder combines the recording of multimedia data files (typically, but not necessarily, using conventional digital audio, photo, and video recording technology), along with quasi-continuous capturing of time and position data to permit a subsequent reconstruction of the user's entire path, preferably including times and/or locations at which no multimedia data files were being recorded. A “path-enhanced” recorder device thus provides a combined record of not only multimedia data files but also data concerning path traveled between (and possibly during) the capturing of individual recorded media files to thereby create “path-enhanced” multimedia, which in turn facilitates a number of contemplated applications including the Automatic Generation of Presentations; Exploration, Enhancement and Editing of “Path-Enhanced” Multimedia; and Searching of “Path-Enhanced” Multimedia Databases.

Abstract: A content management system (CMS) includes a rendering mechanism that receives a desired rendering action for a selected object in the repository, determines from defined rendering rules which elements in the selected object correspond to the desired rendering action, determines which of a plurality of applications corresponds to the desired rendering action, and renders one or more elements in the selected object that correspond to the desired rendering action in the application corresponding to the desired rendering action. The rendering mechanism may insert rendering markers in an object that define a type of data for each element in the object. In addition, nested elements may be rendered by invoking multiple applications that are active at the same time to simultaneously render different types of data.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for efficiently updating rendered content (such as content of a Web page) using a “slow-loading” content element, such as a slow-loading image. A reference is embedded within the markup language notation for the content to be rendered, where this reference identifies the source of the slow-loading content element. Delivery of the slow-loading content therefore begins automatically, when the content is rendered. Event handling attributes are specified with the reference, where values of these attributes identify client-side logic to be invoked when the associated event occurs. If the server determines that the rendered content, or some portion thereof, should be asynchronously updated, it abruptly terminates delivery of the slow-loading content. This termination triggers an event handler, which operates to automatically request reloading of the content.

Abstract: The method and apparatus determine a specific position of a user-selectable region at a particular point in time within a sequence of display frames. The method and apparatus first interpolate between a first matrix representing the user-selectable region at a first point in time and a second matrix representing the user-selectable region at a second point in time. In one embodiment, the matrix generated by this interpolation is then applied to a region definition for the user-selectable region to determine the specific area occupied by the region at the particular point in time. According to one embodiment, the first matrix and the second matrix are both stored within the same sample of a container track. This sample corresponds to one or more frames of the sequence of display frames. In an alternate embodiment, the first matrix and the second matrix are stored in two separate samples of the container track.
