The first portion of the localization transmits localization selections for a target locale to a configurable device. Localization selections are initially set on an interrogator device and then transmitted wirelessly using RFID or other technologies from the interrogator device to a tag coupled to the configurable device. A second portion of the localization receives localization selections for a target locale on the configurable device. A tag receives from an interrogator device one or more localization selections for the target locale on the configurable device. These localization selections are stored on the tag until the configurable device is powered-on. Device initialization causes another portion of the localization to set a target locale on a configurable device. Firmware accesses localization selections previously stored on the tag and then sets the default localization selections in the firmware for the device.

PIM software can prioritize items for display in the single view based on a comparison of the date of creation of the item versus the amount of time remaining to complete the item. PIM software may also take into account a priority level of the item. As an item has less time remaining as compared to the date of creation, the likelihood the item will be included in the single display increases. Any item whose due date is ‘today’ may be included in the single view. Items without due dates might not ever appear in the single view. Users can thus get a quick overview of items that need to be taken care of that day, without being inundated with items that can wait until another day.

Abstract: The automated insertion of formatted address information includes the generation of one or more electronic documents based on a document template having specific guidelines for the format of the address information. From this template, address information is inserted therein. Prior to insertion, an address format command is received which indicates which type of formatting is to be utilized. If a mailing format is utilized, the insertion of the address fields is performed relative to postal jurisdiction protocols. Otherwise, if a style format is used, the address fields are inserted based on the defined style, which may be associated with the template or specific through a user selection or automated selection. Furthermore, the user may define the applicable style for the address information in the electronic documents. Abstract: A non-English text generation system and method is presented by which text can be generated in any language without a keyboard. Initially, only a few base characters or radicals of a language are displayed. A desired character or derivative symbol is reached by lookup through successive menus. When a desired character or symbol is reached, it can be displayed on a computer monitor using a computer mouse or a similar interactive device. This system and method can be applied to any non-English language such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, That, Lao, etc. The system and method has significant utility in internet searching, authentication, email, chat, wireless messaging, document preparation, online advertisement creation, form filling in e-commerce etc, in non-English languages.

Abstract: A low-cost haptic feedback trackball device for providing haptic feedback to a user for enhancing interactions in a graphical environment provided by a computer. The trackball device includes a sensor device that detects the movement of a sphere in two rotary degrees of freedom. An actuator applies a force preferably along a z-axis perpendicular to the plane of the surface supporting the device, where the force is transmitted through the housing to the user. The output force is correlated with interaction of a controlled graphical object, such as a cursor, with other graphical objects in the displayed graphical environment. Preferably, at least one compliant element is provided between a portion of the housing contacted by the user and the support surface, where the compliant element amplifies the force output from the actuator by allowing the contacted portion of the housing to move with respect to the support surface.

The translation is done in the web page without a round trip to the server.

Abstract: A process control and manufacturing information database client application is disclosed displaying received time-series data in an unambiguous manner when a displayed range of time-series data includes a DST transition for a designated time zone for displaying the data. A data acquisition interface obtains timestamped time-series data values for an observed parameter from the process control and manufacturing information database. The data values are requested/received/stored by the client application, for example, according to the UTC time standard. The client application renders the timestamped time-series data values as a series of points on a time-line graph. The time-line graph includes alphanumeric time labels specified in accordance with a designated time zone. The display function renders the time-line graph without disruptions over a time span containing a Daylight Savings Time (DST) transition for the designated time zone.

Items and people of potential interest to users may be determined using obtained word-based social behavior information, semantically-sensitive vocabulary taxonomies, and determined implied topic-specific social networks. The user may be presented with a graphical user interface including the recommendation, an explanation of the rationale relating to the recommendation, and an opportunity for the user to provide feedback relating to the recommendation or the rationale. The feedback may be used to improve future recommendations.

Abstract: A computer automatically changes a web page that would otherwise be normally generated by a first application program (such as a web-conferencing tool for example) in a first language (e.g. English), by adding metadata to one or more translatable text strings in the web page. Abstract: A computer-based system is disclosed for the gathering and analysis of data and planning associated with that data captured during or related to events. The system is based on existing core technology that allows for the use of a digital pen land marked with respect to some spatial location on the surface of a computer screen that allows storage of ink data and allows for interpretation of handwritten characters. A mouse can be used in place of the digital pen, however, it is advantageous to use the digital pen on the surface of a computer screen. Part of the invention is able to capture real-time data in dynamic environments where the user must maintain active contact with the scene, allowing only minimal viewing of the computer screen. This minimal viewing component can be applied to, but not limited to, polling, traffic analysis, and sporting events. For the application to team sporting events, the minimal viewing component provides an efficient means for personnel to enter game statistics in real-time.
