  • Patent number: 11874193
Abstract: Provided is an ice avalanche-type glacial lake outburst surge generation and height measurement device. A glacial lake outburst test device includes a glacial lake simulation module and an ice avalanche surge module. An impact path, an impact angle, an impact scale, an impact velocity and a landslide density of an ice avalanche slider are controlled by simulation means. During formation of ice avalanche surges, the ice avalanche slider rushes into the glacial lake at a high speed, an ice avalanche pushes water to move in a sliding direction, thus forming a first surge, then continues to move to the bottom of the lake under the inertia and discharges a certain amount of water at its back. Movement of the landslide drives surrounding water to converge quickly into the back area, thus forming a second surge. Surge waves evolve around with a water entry point as a center.

Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards pull locomotion, which allows users to move around a virtual reality environment (typically larger than their physical environment) by interacting with pull targets, which comprise interactive objects displayed in the reality environment. When (e.g., via a controller) the user reaches grabs a pull target and pulls the controller back towards the user, the user's perceived position moves toward the target, as if the environment is being pulled to the user. A push motion generally results in moving the user's perceived position away from the target. The perceived movement can be gradual in the environment, relative to the speed of the pull or push. The pulling and pushing facilitate an interactive narrative experience or enhance interactive game play.

  • Patent number: 10366528
Abstract: The display of 3D-representations involves navigation and interaction with users engaged with the display. Points of interest (POIs), as applied to areas of interest for a 3D-representation, are anchored to the 3D-representation on the display and are moveable in synchrony with the 3D-representation navigation. POIs are presented in which interactive actions are associated with the POIs. When a user selects one of the interactive actions associated with a POI, the selection can prompt the display of a new 3D-representation of an item related to the 3D-representation to which the POI is anchored, thereby improving access and analysis about information for related items.

  • Patent number: 10268358
Abstract: In an electronic device capable of running multiple software applications concurrently, applications, documents, cards, or other activities can be selected for hibernation so as to free up system resources for other activities that are in active use. A determination is made as to which activities should hibernate, for example based on a determination as to which activities have not been used recently or based on relative resource usage. When an activity is to hibernate, its state is preserved on a storage medium such as a disk, so that the activity can later be revived in the same state and the user can continue with the same task that was being performed before the activity entered hibernation.

  • Patent number: 10241635
Abstract: Some embodiments implement a linear switching application that provides functionality for switching between different windows based on an x-axis ordering of the windows instead of the z-axis or other ordering of prior art. The linear switching application identifies an array of currently open windows and sorts the array based on the leftmost x-coordinate position of the windows in the array. Optionally, the linear switching application modifies the GUI to display window identifiers based on the leftmost x-coordinate position of each window to orient the user to the x-coordinate position of each of the windows on-screen. The application determines an index in the current x-sorted array for the window that is currently frontmost and changes the frontmost window based on the current frontmost window and a directional input provided by the user.

  • Patent number: 9652685
Abstract: Embodiments presented herein describe techniques for generating a story graph using a collection of digital media, such as images and video. The story graph presents a structure for activities, events, and locales commonly occurring in sets of photographs taken by different individuals across a given location (e.g., a theme park, tourist attraction, convention, etc.). To build a story graph, streams from sets of digital media are generated. Each stream corresponds to media (e.g., images or video) taken in sequence at the location by an individual (or related group of individuals) over a period of time. For each stream, features from each media are extracted relative to the stream. Clusters of media are generated and are connected by directed edges. The connections indicate a path observed to have occurred in the streams from one cluster to another cluster.
