Abstract: Systems and methods for providing for display a map that graphically represents the association among documents are disclosed. A method for providing for display a map that graphically represents the association between a first document and a second document that analyzes the first document includes receiving, at a computer, a request to generate the map. The method further includes retrieving, from a database, analysis information related to the way in which the second document analyzed the first document, in response to the received request. The method further includes providing for display the map. The map includes a first node, a second node, and a connector. The first node corresponds to the first document. The second node corresponds to the second document. The connector graphically links the first node and the second node. Abstract: Techniques presented herein describe rotating text content rendered on a mobile device to a preferred orientation based on the mobile device orientation and language of the text content. A display tool executing on the mobile device detects an orientation of the mobile device changing from a first orientation to a second orientation. The mobile device currently displays the characters in the text content according to the first orientation. The display tool determines that the text content is written in a specified language. The display tool re-renders the display of the characters in the text content and any accompanying images according to the second orientation.

Abstract: A method, system and/or computer program product for information browsing comprises: obtaining screen partition information of an electronic device; obtaining a position of a user's current input on the screen; obtaining file segmentation information describing a mapping relationship between file segments and screen partitions; determining a file segment corresponding to the user's current input based on the screen partition information, the position of the user's current input on the screen, and the file segmentation information; and displaying a preview of the determined file segment that corresponds to the user's current input.

Abstract: In one aspect, a computer-implemented method for geo-locating images may generally include receiving, by one or more computing devices, a request to geo-locate an image on a map and, in response to the request, providing for display a user icon on the map. In addition, the method may include determining a current geographic location of the user icon on the map, providing for display a textual representation of the current geographic location, receiving data indicative of the user icon being moved across at least a portion of the map and updating the textual representation of the current geographic location as the user icon is moved across the at least a portion of the map.

Abstract: A graphical user interface (GUI) capable of presenting a display that indicates that navigation controls can be used for navigating through results of a search using a search engine. The GUI highlights the GUI control that accepts text characters for indicating a search term such that the area contrasts with the display of an adjacent display area in response to entering the search term. Once the search is initiated, such as by actuating a search initiation control, the GUI may change to highlight navigation controls to indicate that those controls can be used to navigate between search result hits. Additional icons or controls may be displayed to further indicate the function of navigation controls and actions that may be taken to further modify the display of controls, such as collapsing some of the controls.

Abstract: A system includes a processor and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory includes instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform a method that includes displaying a plurality of menu items (each associated with one of a plurality of media content items) in a graphical user interface. The method also includes, when a particular promotion associated with a particular media content item is to be displayed, displaying the particular promotion proximate to a particular menu item of the plurality of menu items and enabling a direction command. Selection of the direction command causes a cursor position to jump directly to the particular menu item from a different menu item of the plurality of menu items.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to user interfaces and more particularly to techniques for providing user interface which allows users to select filtering criteria and display filtered information accordingly. In various embodiments, related information is displayed on a hierarchical chart as nodes that are connected to one another. The hierarchical chart is updated after filtering criteria are applied, and the display visibility of the nodes are changed based on the filtering results. The hierarchical relationships among the nodes are maintained before and after the filtering process. In a specific embodiment, the nodes that do not meet filtering criteria are displayed at a low visibility level on the hierarchical chart.

Abstract: A handheld electronic device includes a reduced QWERTY keyboard and is enabled with disambiguation software. The device provides output in the form of a default output and a number of variants. The output is based largely upon the frequency, i.e., the likelihood that a user is likely to have intended a particular output, but various features of the device provide additional variants that are not based solely on frequency and rather are provided by various logic structures resident on the device. The device provides a learning function that allows the disambiguation function to adapt to provide a customized experience for the user. The learning function is disabled, however, when the relevant words are found to be in a special category for which frequency learning, i.e., frequency revision, is not employed.

The method further includes capturing information, by the browser module, from at least one of the number of web pages based on the profile and sending the information captured by the browser module to a destination application, where the destination application is external to the browser and where the destination application is configured to use the information in a second format.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and system for scrolling in a document having multiple columns. A method for scrolling in a page of a document having multiple columns, includes: displaying a plurality of the columns in a display window; associating a different scrollbar with each of the plurality of displayed columns; and selectively enabling a synchronous or independent operation of each of the scrollbars; wherein in synchronous operation, a use of any of the scrollbars results in a corresponding scrolling of the page within the display window, and wherein in independent operation, a use of a selected one of the scrollbars results only in a corresponding scrolling of the column of the page associated with that scrollbar within the display window.

The available television channels are displayed in a first window of the guide. The television series associated with the available episodes are displayed in a second window of the guide. In response to selecting one of the available television channels, the available television episodes are narrowed to the television series that air on the selected television channel. In response to the selection of one of the television series, episodes of the selected television series are displayed in a third window of the guide. Selecting an episode displays the episode information in a fourth window of the guide.

Abstract: A region menu is used to easily access menu items. Generally, the region menu includes a number of regions with associated menus that are located close to an initial mouse position from where the region menu is evoked. Hovering over any of the regions of the region menu displays the menu item that is associated with the region. Additionally, hovering over a menu item within one of the regions of the displayed region menu may activate a live preview showing a projected result of what would occur should that menu item be selected. During a live preview, a portion of the region menu becomes translucent such that content beneath the menu becomes visible.

Abstract: A system and method for providing navigation for visitors to casinos allows the visitors to select a game, amenity, attraction, or facility as a desired destination, and then have a route provided them to that destination. The route can be drawn on a touch screen display. As an avatar proceeds along the route, it passes landmarks that are highlighted through animation. They may grow as the avatar approaches, then shrink back as it continues beyond the landmark. This is typically repeated several times, allowing the customer to easily remember the series of landmarks, and, thus, the route to the desired destination. He can then follow the route by moving from landmark to landmark across the casino floor. A customized map with the route may also be printed.

Upon detection of the action, an indicator is provided in the UI or the graphical model in a manner associated with the detected changed element. The indicator may be a visual indicator or any other sensory indicator, such as a sound, force, or tactile indicator. The indicator provides a prompt to a user that one or more elements of the UI or graphical model may need to be saved, applied, or any changes canceled.

The method further includes indicating a section of the grid into which the image is to be positioned. In addition, the method includes updating the display to reflect the position of the image.

Abstract: Selections from a long list of elements on a Graphical User Interface (GUI) are presented. When a context window is presented for the selections, different cues are provided in the context window to provide feedback regarding the selections that are not in the current view, and to also facilitate rapid navigation to those selections on the GUI. Interaction with the GUI widgets within the context window, and interaction with the context window itself, facilitates the navigation toward the other selections that are not in the current view. Interaction with the GUI widgets also facilitates the preview of the selections that are not in the current view, thus making it easier to determine what has been selected without having to navigate to the view that contains those selections.

The method includes determining, at a set-top box device, that a plurality of menu items in a menu includes a particular menu item associated with a content item that is to be promoted when displaying the plurality of menu items in the menu. The method further includes displaying the plurality of menu items in the menu. A determination is made at the set top box whether to display a promotion of the content item. In response to determining to display the promotion, the promotion of the content item is displayed beside the plurality of menu items, and a right command is enabled allowing a cursor position to jump directly to the particular menu item from a different menu item of the plurality of menu items. The jump is performed after a single application of the right command, where the different menu item does not have a restriction as to a position in the menu. In response to determining not to display the promotion, the right command is disabled.
