The computer identifies at least one of the group of data element clusters as relevant to the at least one function.

Abstract: A client device executes a display layout application that receives a size of each display item included in a set of display items. The set of display items is associated with a first frame included in a bounding box associated with a display screen. The display layout application determines a reference size based on the sizes of the set of display items. The display layout application determines a size of the first frame based on the reference size. The display layout application determines a position for a first display item included in the set of display items based on a position of the first frame within the bounding box. The display layout application generates a layout for display on the display screen, where the layout includes the first display item.

Abstract: A contextual menu system may be configured to perform operations that include: identifying a media category based on a user profile, the user profile comprising user profile data; causing display of a GUI that includes a content menu, the content menu comprising at least a display of a set of media items associated with the media category identified based on the user profile data, the set of media items comprising at least a first media item; accessing the user profile data of the user profile, the user profile data including a browser history associated with the user profile; identifying the first media item among the browser history; and removing the content menu within the GUI in response to the identifying the first media item among the browser history.

Abstract: An integrated data analytics tool is described that enables users to efficiently create and communicate data analysis flows or storylines. The data analytics tool includes graphical user interfaces (GUIs) that enable users to create data analysis “pipelines” that serve as both a visual and technical representation of a data analysis flow. Among other features, a data analysis pipeline enables users to easily add and link related data visualizations in a pipeline, to update datasets and filters associated with data visualizations in a pipeline and to have those updates be propagated automatically to other visualizations in the pipeline, and to create side-by-side comparisons of visualizations based on different datasets/filters. Users presented with such data visualization pipelines can also interact with the visualizations and dynamically update a displayed analysis by selecting different datasets, filters, pipeline paths, and so forth.

Abstract: A device configured to emulate an actor in a correlithm object processing system includes a memory and a processor. The memory stores an actor table that includes a string correlithm object comprising a plurality of sub-string correlithm objects. The actor is implemented by the processor and receives an input correlithm object, determines n-dimensional distances between the input correlithm object and at least a portion of the plurality of sub-string correlithm objects, and identifies a sub-string correlithm object from the actor table with the shortest determined n-dimensional distance. The actor outputs the real-world output value associated with the identified sub-string correlithm object in the actor table.

Abstract: Automatically generating an onboarding tour for a business analytic application is provided. Columns of a dataset used by the business analytic application are analyzed. Characteristics of visualizations of the business analytic application are analyzed. Ordered groups of visualizations corresponding to the business analytic application are generated based on a result of analyzing the columns of the dataset used by the business analytic application and the characteristics of the visualizations of the business analytic application. A set of visualization paths corresponding to the business analytic application is generated based on the ordered groups of visualizations. Visualization paths in the set of visualization paths corresponding to the business analytic application are ordered to form the onboarding tour based on the result of analyzing the columns of the dataset used by the business analytic application and the characteristics of the visualizations of the business analytic application.

Abstract: An HVAC controller includes a housing, a user interface and a controller that is operably coupled to the user interface and is configured to display a HOME screen on the user interface that provides the user with current system operating information and enabling the user to access a hierarchical menu structure for viewing and/or editing one or more settings of the HVAC controller. The hierarchical menu structure includes a plurality of menu branches each having two or more hierarchical menu levels with a leaf menu at the bottom of each branch, where for a first group of the leaf menus, the user must navigate “back” to return to the HOME screen while for a second group of the leaf menus, the user is returned to the HOME screen after the user indicates the user is done with the leaf menu, without having to wait for the timeout period.

Abstract: Automatically and programmatically generating markers for streaming media in a crowdsourced manner is described herein. The method operates in a media device that is communicatively coupled to a display device. The display device includes a graphical user interface (GUI) having a playback bar. The playback bar includes a current playback time (CTI) and a plurality of markers. The method operates by detecting user interactions as an user navigates through a movie or TV show (or other content) being presented on the display device. Point values are assigned to the user interactions. The detected user interactions and assigned point values represent training data. The training data is provided to a crowdsource server. The crowdsource server is configured to determine correlations and patterns in the training data to automatically and programmatically define crowdsourced markers for the movie/TV show.

Abstract: Automatically and programmatically generating content trailers in a crowdsourced manner is described herein. An example method operates in a media device coupled with a display device. The display device displays a graphical user interface (GUI) having a plurality of tiles each corresponding to content available for display. The GUI also includes at least one preview display area. The method operates by detecting selection of one of the tiles, and automatically and programmatically generating a trailer for content associated with the selected tile in a crowdsourced manner. Then, the trailer is played in the preview display area while the selected tile remains selected.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods, apparatus, systems, and computer program products for performing an action on a database record in an on-demand database service. What actions are presented to a user interface of a mobile device can depend on attributes of the database record, such as metadata stored in association with the database record. Selection of one of the actions can cause the mobile device to integrate data from hardware components, databases, and applications using mobile device. The data identified from the mobile device can be automatically associated with various data fields of the action. The selected action can be performed on the database record using the data in the data fields.

Abstract: A computing device classifies user activities. The device receives eye tracking data for a person viewing a page having multiple contiguous regions. The eye tracking data comprises a temporal sequence of fixations, where each fixation has a duration and a location. The device partitions the fixations into clusters, where each cluster has a consecutive sub-sequence of the fixations. The device assigns a provisional user activity label to each fixation based on a set of characteristics of the fixation. The device also groups together consecutive fixations that have the same label to partition the fixations into groups. For each group that matches a respective cluster, the device retains the provisional label assignment as a final user activity label assigned to each of the fixations in the respective group. The device also reconciles non-matching groups with non-matching clusters, using the regions, to form a set of non-overlapping modified groups.

Abstract: In some examples, a merchant device at a point of sale (POS) location may present information to a merchant in a first language preferred by the merchant, and may present information to a buyer in a second language preferred by the buyer. The merchant device may switch between the different languages in response to detecting a change in the physical orientation of a display. For instance, in a first orientation in which the display is viewable from a merchant direction, the merchant device may present information in the language preferred by the merchant. When the orientation of the display is changed to a second orientation in which the display is viewable from a buyer direction, the merchant device may present information in the language indicated to be preferred by the buyer. Various techniques may be used for determining the preferred language of a particular buyer.

Abstract: A computing device classifies user activities for a person interacting with a computer user interface using one or more user interface devices. The computing device receives eye tracking data for the person, which includes a sequence of fixations ordered temporally. Each fixation corresponds to a plurality of consecutive measured gaze points. Each fixation has a duration and location based on the corresponding gaze points. For each fixation, the computing device determines a plurality of features for the fixation, including characteristics of the fixation, context features based on preceding or subsequent fixations, and user interaction features based on information from the user interface devices during the fixation. The computing device assigns a user activity label to the fixation according to the features. The label is selected from a predefined set. The computing device then analyzes the fixations and their assigned user activity labels to make recommendations.

The number of items is displayed based on the numerical position on a list selected for display. A displayed item is highlighted, wherein a position of the highlighted displayed item on a screen indicates a position relation of the displayed number of items to the count of items in the list.

Abstract: A note-capture application is disclosed that allows notes to be displayed on the lock screen. In one embodiment, a note-capture application can be invoked when a mobile device is in an above-lock state. Note data can be captured using the note-capture application, and the captured data can be persistently displayed on the lock screen. A user can perform a unique gesture from the lock screen to invoke the note-capture application. In another embodiment, multiple input modes can be available for note data capture. For example, voice data, text data, camera data, etc. can all be used to capture notes for display on the lock screen.

Abstract: The present invention provides a transition between two or more menu bars. The transition provided is both useful and aesthetic in that is enhances the aesthetic transition between the menu bars and serves to notify a user of such a transition. The transition is animated with one of a number of different animation techniques, such as rotation, scrolling, shading, virtual lighting, and the like. Three-dimensional graphics mapping may be provided to enhance the animation of the menu bar.

Abstract: A system for a computer implemented interactive comparative display of information organizes a visual screen display to a user in such a way that the user is able to efficiently select information content, be presented with topical associations relating to that content, and readily compare different information content from a single display. The information content represented by each selectable result indicator is comparable with the information content represented by other selectable result indicators, wherein the information content is of a same type of information content but from a different perspective, vantage point, or provides a different alternative. A user may navigate to a particular segment of information content, and then be presented with a string of topically related segments, as well as with one or more connecting categories of information, which may otherwise not have been readily apparent to the particular selected segment, but for the display system and method.

Abstract: Persistent feedback for bidirectional navigation is provided. A user may navigate from a list of items in a first user interface to a second user interface where a specific item from the list of items may be opened. When the user navigates back to the first user interface, the item which the user opened in the second user interface may be marked with a persistent visual indicator. The persistent visual indicator provides an indication to the user which item he previously had opened. The persistent visual indicator may be functionally selectable, which when selected, may reopen the item it is associated with in the second user interface.

Abstract: A secondary output of a user interface created using a presentation framework may be created by making a clone of the user interface, then modifying the cloned user interface by expanding various components. The cloned user interface may also be configured to the output characteristics of the secondary output, which may be a printer or other hardcopy device. The callbacks may cause certain user interface components to be changed on the cloned version of the user interface.

Abstract: In a method for automatically navigating potential websites for predictive browsing based on user activities along with efficiency of verifying content updates, a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) of websites and its associated attributes that a user visits can be recorded and stored in a storage engine. The potential sites can be predicted by a predictive engine component based upon a past browsing history and various environmental factors that are recorded in the storage engine. A dynamic content detection engine component examines each potential websites and detects if the site has been updated. The predictive engine component enables the user to navigate to the potential websites thereby permitting faster website browsing.

Abstract: A graphical user interface (GUI) capable of presenting a display that indicates that navigation controls can be used for navigating through results of a search using a search engine. The GUI highlights the GUI control that accepts text characters for indicating a search term such that the area contrasts with the display of an adjacent display area in response to entering the search term. Once the search is initiated, such as by actuating a search initiation control, the GUI may change to highlight navigation controls to indicate that those controls can be used to navigate between search result hits. Additional icons or controls may be displayed to further indicate the function of navigation controls and actions that may be taken to further modify the display of controls, such as collapsing some of the controls.

Abstract: A system includes a processor and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory includes instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform a method that includes displaying a plurality of menu items (each associated with one of a plurality of media content items) in a graphical user interface. The method also includes, when a particular promotion associated with a particular media content item is to be displayed, displaying the particular promotion proximate to a particular menu item of the plurality of menu items and enabling a direction command. Selection of the direction command causes a cursor position to jump directly to the particular menu item from a different menu item of the plurality of menu items.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to user interfaces and more particularly to techniques for providing user interface which allows users to select filtering criteria and display filtered information accordingly. In various embodiments, related information is displayed on a hierarchical chart as nodes that are connected to one another. The hierarchical chart is updated after filtering criteria are applied, and the display visibility of the nodes are changed based on the filtering results. The hierarchical relationships among the nodes are maintained before and after the filtering process. In a specific embodiment, the nodes that do not meet filtering criteria are displayed at a low visibility level on the hierarchical chart.

Abstract: The subject invention provides a unique interactive system and method that facilitate single-handed navigation and interaction with applications within a display space on any type of mobile computing device. The system and method include or employ scalable application tiles corresponding to applications, whereby the application tiles can provide or indicate the current state of the corresponding application. The state information provided in each tile can vary as well depending on the current size of the tile. The tiles can be arranged into a plurality of zones such that a user can view one particular zone at a time and obtain more context and information from the application tiles in that zone rather than working with all tiles and all zones at the same time. The view of the display space can be of the world or all application tiles, zone, or application. Panning and zooming among the zones, application tiles and/or views can be performed single-handedly using designated on or off screen controls.

Abstract: A graphical user interface (GUI) for an audio video display device (AVDD) such as a TV includes content panels which can be selected for searching for additional information related to the content underlying the content panels. A history of previous searches is maintained in memory “stacked” notionally to the left or right of the current display so that a viewer can easily review previous search results using a simple scroll command.

Abstract: A method and system for providing a graphical user interface with contextual views. In various embodiments, the present invention provides a graphical user interface that allows the changing contents of a global menu in the graphical display based upon the selected nodes that belong to a hierarchical chart. Only those actions applicable (contextual) to the selected nodes will be determined and displayed in the menu. Accordingly, the contents of the selectable options are updated based upon the selected nodes. When more than one node is selected, the displayed selectable actions are an intersection of the actions permitted for each selected node. In a specific embodiment, a comparison menu is provided to allow the user to be able to compare unique corresponding properties of selected nodes.

The pre-defined start address is mapped to a different start address of the storage disc associated with the main menu of the selected content entity to be provided.

Abstract: In general, the invention relates to a method for capturing information from a web site. The method includes accessing the web site using a browser with a browser module, where the web site comprises a number of web pages having information in a first format, and obtaining a profile corresponding to the web site, where the profile defines a manner to capture information in a first format from the web site. The method further includes capturing information, by the browser module, from at least one of the number of web pages based on the profile and sending the information captured by the browser module to a destination application, where the destination application is external to the browser and where the destination application is configured to use the information in a second format.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and system for scrolling in a document having multiple columns. Abstract: Various technologies and techniques are disclosed for providing a table of contents for a document viewer application. A document viewer application is provided that can display a document that has multiple pages of content. Upon receiving a selection from the user to access a table of contents for the document, a table of contents is displayed that contains a representation of at least some of the pages of content in a manner that is overlaid on top of a current position in the document. A navigation feature allows a user to navigate through the table of contents while retaining the current position in the document. A preview size adjustment feature allows the user to adjust a size of the representation of the pages of content for the document.

Abstract: A character input method is implemented in a device with a plurality of keys. If a key is activated by a first operation matching a first input pattern, a first route is selected to traverse a plurality of characters corresponded by the key during presentation of the plurality of characters. If the first key is activated by a second operation matching a second input pattern, the plurality of characters corresponded by the first key are orderly retrieved and presented according to a second route in response to operations on the first key. The order for presenting two characters corresponded by the first key in the first route is reversed in the second route.
