Abstract: Techniques and systems for centralized access to multimedia content stored on or available to a computing device are disclosed. The centralized access can be provided by a media control interface that receives user inputs and interacts with media programs resident on the computing device to produce graphical user interfaces that can be presented on a display device.

Abstract: An automotive user interface for controlling the temperature, the distribution and of the air flow rate in a ventilation system of a motor vehicle. The automotive user interface comprises: a touch-sensitive control display unit, which comprises light-emitter diodes structured for providing a visual representation of temperatures that can be set by a user according to a generally circular arrangement; an optically semitransparent touch-sensitive control panel superimposed on the light-emitter diodes in a position corresponding to an area for setting the temperature; and an electronic control unit connected to the light-emitter diodes and to the control panel for controlling the temperature of the air in the ventilation system and the light-emitter-diode means in response to an action of touch contact by a user on the area for setting the temperature.

Abstract: Context based menus are employed for content management through touch or gesture actions, keyboard entries, mouse or pen actions, and similar input. Context based menus may be deployed using a variety of shapes, forms, and content. Different actions and combinations of actions enable users to activate submenus, execute commands, or collapse context based menus. By enabling viewing of menus and execution of commands through context based menus positioned in relation to displayed content user experience is enhanced when interacting with user interfaces with limited display area.

Abstract: Radial context based menus are employed for content management through touch or gesture actions, keyboard entries, mouse or pen actions, and similar input. Different actions and combinations of actions enable users to activate submenus, execute commands, or collapse context based menus. Accessibility features are integrated with radial context based menus to ease user interaction with radial context based menu controls. Distinct accessibility controls are superimposed on radial context based menu controls to aid with command interactions. Additionally, contrast schemes are implemented on radial context based menu controls and surrounding regions to differentiate the context base menu controls for visual acuity.

Abstract: A system and method for illustrating and interacting with data. An example method includes grouping data according to two or more user-specified dimensions and determining one or more hierarchical relationships between the two or more user-specified dimensions. Plural bands are depicted in a first order based on the one or more intrinsic hierarchical relationships. A first user option enables a user to selectively change the first order to a second order, thereby selectively changing the one or more hierarchical relationships. In an illustrative embodiment, the data includes financial data. The plural bands illustrate only those bands that the user has access permissions or privileges to view. A second user option enables a user to selectively omit one or more of the plural bands while maintaining the one or more hierarchical relationships between remaining displayed bands.

The first arc of selector elements is manipulable to establish an input genre root, and the second arc is manipulable to select an input branching from a genre root selected using an element in the first group. The interface is typically linked to a database comprising stored images and other information which corresponds to the selectable characteristics, whereby an image that corresponds to an item which meets a selected characteristic is retrieved and displayed. Information other than the corresponding image may also be retrieved and displayed. In some embodiments, the stored images comprise a single image, which matches all the selected characteristics, or a composite image that is based upon stored images which correspond to different selected characteristics. In some embodiments, the user selection interface comprises a graphic user interface or a mechanical interface.

Abstract: In cases where the right mouse click operation to access a context menu is disabled, the techniques described in the disclosure may provide access to the context menu through a long click of the left mouse button. For example, the user may click and hold the left mouse button for at least a threshold period of time, and in response thereto, the user interface is updated to display the context menu. To indicate to the user how long it would take for the context menu to appear, an icon can be displayed next to the cursor, or as a part of the cursor. The icon can show the relative time left before the context menu is displayed (e.g., an elapsed and/or remaining portion of the threshold period of time, etc.).

Abstract: The dynamic adjustment of ratios of beverages to be mixed and dispensed in creating mixed or blended beverages is provided. A selection of beverages may be received from a user interface menu displayed by a computing device. A representation of a mixed beverage comprising the beverage selections may then be displayed according to pre-assigned default ratios. An input may then be received to adjust an assigned ratio associated with one or more of the beverage selections. The computing device may then adjust an assigned ratio associated with the one or more beverage selections in response to receiving the input. The computing device may then automatically adjust assigned ratios associated with other beverage selections in the representation of the mixed beverage. The computing device may then display a representation of the mixed beverage with the adjusted ratios in the user interface.

Abstract: A personalized human perceptual opinion capturing and modeling system includes a processor and memory. Logic stored in the memory renders a user interface on an electronic display. The user interface includes many active areas radially linking multiple peripheral image objects to a central image object where an image object is an object of an image or a visually represented entity. The multiple peripheral image objects are positioned around a curved path about the central image object. The active areas include impression characteristic objects associated with hyperlinks that render a second user interface. The second user interface displays a selected peripheral image object, the central image object, and a color mapping model or a visual feedback mechanism. A database stores user expressed perceptual opinion data representing the similarity of the selected peripheral image object to the central image object.

Abstract: A preferred contact group centric interface for a communication device can be used to facilitate communications by a user. The user interface can be arranged to activate from a user's “home page” on the display, from an idle screen that is accessed after a timeout period expires, or any other appropriate mechanism that activates the preferred contact group centric experience. A user selects the preferred contact group from among an array of the user's contacts. Once the contact group is configured, a minimal number of navigation/selection features is necessary to activate any number of communication modes available to the contacts. The contact group is configured such that simple and quick navigation between the contact members is achieved. The contact group can be presented in 2D and 3D arrangements, in any number of list or geometric configurations. A pricing plan can optionally be tied to each member of the contact group.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a display screen, and computing hardware to execute a software product. Executing the software product results in generating and rendering a graphical user interface on the display screen to facilitate user interaction. The graphical user interface, when rendered, presents one or more graphical objects, a pointer object configured to be movable over one or more of the one or more graphical objects, and configured to invoke a menu list containing one or more user selectable options as the pointer object is clicked or tapped over the one or more of the one or more of the graphical objects. A user selectable option is selected the pointer object swipes a touch sensitive object and the software product can maintain an effect corresponding to the selected option to be applied to the graphical objects and enable a change in status of the graphical objects.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with a user interface for tracking behaviors are described. In one embodiment, a method includes generating, on a display of a computing device, a graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI includes a dial that indicates a chronological order for a set of events. The dial includes a center area with an activity object for manipulating the set of events. The GUI includes a context panel with one or more buttons for modifying the set of events. The method includes populating the dial with icons for the set of events by pinning the icons to the dial. The set of events include predefined events for tracking behaviors of a user. Populating the dial includes displaying the icons around the dial to correlate with when each of the set of events occurs.

Abstract: A segment ring menu is provided that is used to easily access menu items. The segment ring menu includes a number of menus that are located equidistant from an initial mouse position from where the segment ring menu is evoked. Hovering over any of the sections of the segment ring menu displays the menu items hosted in that section. The segment ring menu layout is directed at making it easy for the user to reach any of the menu items with a small amount of mouse movement.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to user interface control groups and provide a method, system and computer program product for rendering a set of user interface controls with dynamic content in a GUI. In one embodiment, the invention can include a data processing system including a set of user interface controls and control data including a set of cumulative selection metrics for each user interface control in the set. Each user interface control in the set, in turn, can include a label and an indicator of cumulative metrics for the user interface control. For instance, the set of user interface controls can include a set of radio buttons in a radio button control group. As another example, the set of user interface controls can include a set of check boxes in a check box control group.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for selection of objects appearing in a rotational user interface list. A rotational list in a user interface is enabled to provide text, images, icons, links and scrolling abilities to either end to make components visible or invisible. The rotational list can be made to incorporate variable size icons or images and spacing can be adjusted. A rotational list may respond to priority settings and preferences to provide priority positioning in a geometric shape. Higher priority items may ascent to a narrower portion of the geometric shape and lower priority items may descend to a broader portion of the geometric shape.

Abstract: Systems and methods for gesture repetition that is easy to repeat quickly. A user is able to quickly repeat any activation of a key, including any of the alternate, overloaded functions that are associated with the key. In addition, by appropriately defining the gesture, a large number of these repetitions can be quickly generated. These repeated activations can be generated much faster than a key can be repeatedly tapped with sufficient accuracy, and far faster than an alternative function can be repeatedly generated when each repetition would require again waiting past an initial time threshold. Furthermore, the number of repetitions can be easily and precisely controlled by the user. As the desired number of repetitions is approached, the user simply begins to repeat the gesture at a slower pace until precisely the desired number of repetitions is achieved.

Abstract: A control object including a knob element is displayed in a GUI. A first user input can be detected that indicates selection of the knob element. In response to the first user input, the knob element can be visually augmented. The visual augmentation can include displaying text labels of range limit values and a slider element with the knob element. The slider element can include a fill bar to indicate the current value of the knob element. A second input can be a linear motion on or near the slider control. In response to the second user input, both the fill bar of the slider element and a fill portion of the knob element can be visually augmented to indicate the change in the value. A cursor image of a pointing device providing the second input can be hidden at least during the receiving of the second input.

Abstract: The subject disclosure is directed towards technology that provides an input mechanism for efficient navigation on a computing device. The input mechanism may include a cell-based input mechanism for displaying a display pattern having a central portion and a peripheral portion on which input cells are configured. When a stroke begins at a position on the peripheral portion that corresponds to a desired page and ends at the central portion, the cell-based input mechanism modifies the input cells on the display pattern to display input cells for the desired page.

Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating character input using a graphical input display having a carousel of characters are provided. In an aspect, a system includes an interface component configured to generate a carousel graphical input display, the carousel graphical input display comprising a plurality of characters arranged in a fixed line, wherein a cursor is configured to move over the characters about the line and the cursor shifts from a first end of the line to a second end of the line in response to reaching either the first end of the line or the second end of the line. The system further includes an input component configured to receive a command to move the cursor over the characters to focus on respective ones of the characters.

The computer program is for determining that a first identified location is too close to an edge of a window of a graphical user interface to display a radial display area. The contact element is moved by user interaction to different radial positions about the center of the respective ring element to change the parameter value along the display field in the radial direction, and rotated in the circumferential direction of the ring element. A popup control featuring a jog wheel for fast selection and geometric control using the touch screen may be attached to each predetermined group of graphic assets allowing players to move, resize, dim, animate, temporary hide or overlap them. Predetermined presentation styles (skins) may be successively rendered. Whereas the displays on the regulated pay computer-controlled video games of the prior art were often visually cluttered and not visually appealing to adult game console players, the present Universal Player Controls enables the players to tailor the game appearance then save it in a player profile for latter retrieval.

In response to the request, a first set of icons are provided for display, where each icon corresponds to a type of available multimedia content. The icons are displayed in an approximately circular arrangement, providing for easy viewing and manipulation. In response to selection of an icon, a second set of icons is displayed in an approximately circular arrangement, where each icon of the second set corresponds to a sub-type of the available multimedia content. The user can continue to select icons based on the type of desired multimedia content until a list of available multimedia content items are displayed. Accordingly, the user is able to quickly locate and view multimedia content of a desired type, resulting in an improved user experience.

In one embodiment, each item of interest is assigned to one of a number of concentric regions in a two-dimensional space based on one or more attributes of the item of interest. The concentric regions in the two-dimensional space are centered at a location in the two-dimensional space that corresponds to the reference item. A GUI is then generated such that the GUI includes concentric display regions that correspond to the concentric regions in the two-dimensional space, where a select concentric display region provides an expanded view of the items of interest located within the corresponding region in the two-dimensional space and the remaining concentric display region(s) provide collapsed view(s) of the items of interest in the corresponding region(s) of the two-dimensional space.

A user interface (UI) and look and feel of the personal wireless navigation system is provided which is enhanced so that users do not simply want to use the product—they covet it. Abstract: A method for providing an application carousel includes providing a self-service website for a third party partner supplier to create, select or group apps in a unique app carousel created by the supplier in the website. Blogs, reviews or comments may be provided in association with a GUI of the app carousel to promote the app carousel. The supplier populates the app carousel with app icons which may be rotated about a looped carousel display track. The app carousel is then exposed for location by consumers via their electronic devices and associated browsers.

Abstract: A screen display method by which to configure a screen in which media objects are moved according to navigational inputs in order to easily browse for a desired media object from among a plurality of media objects. The screen display method in a mobile terminal includes displaying media objects to be piled up at first and second positions and media objects to be arranged along a course that connects the first and second positions; and displaying the piled-up media objects at one of the first and second positions to be sequentially moved along the course toward the other of the first and second positions when an input event occurs.
