  • Patent number: 6675628
Abstract: To provide a punch press which can realize the high hit rate and the energy saving in the punch drive. A plate material transfer control means 32 and a ram axis control means 33 controlled synchronously are provided. The plate material is started to transfer when a punch tool 6 reaches a pullout height HH2 after punching and it is arranged to come to a height HH1 which is likely to contact with the plate material when completing transferring the plate material. The ram axis control means 33 rotates a servomotor 19 in one direction. Moreover, the ram axis control means 33 controls in a motor speed pattern VP based on the distance of transferring the plate material after the punch tool 6 goes up from the pullout height HH2 and the servomotor 19 is prevented from stopping as possible. The motor speed pattern VP is made to be a trapezoid pattern that the acceleration is constant.

  • Patent number: 6523384
Abstract: An apparatus and method for monitoring the carry through state of a mechanical press is disclosed. Actual slide displacement curves under load conditions are continually generated for the press being monitored. Values of rebound height, rebound count, and rebound number for the press slide may then be determined and utilized as indicators of the carry through state of the press. Measured values of rebound height, rebound count, and rebound number can then be displayed and used as indicators that the energy of the slide should be increased to bring the press closer to a carry through state.

  • Patent number: 6418769
Abstract: The method for quality assurance of crimping connections made by a crimping device having an exchangeable tool with two tool parts uses a tool that is provided with an electronic data storage device. The electronic data storage device stores tool-specific nominal data derived from a nominal force-stroke characteristic line of a nominal crimping action of the tool. A crimp connector is fastened to the end of an electrical cable by placing the end of the electrical cable and the crimp connector between the two tool parts and moving the two tool parts relative to one another for carrying out the crimping action. The force-stroke characteristic line of the two tool parts is measured during the crimping action. The measured force-stroke characteristic line is compared to the stored nominal data.

  • Patent number: 6354123
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for automated control and positioning of a mandrel within a pipe during bending operations. Position detection is accomplished by means of a low frequency electromagnetic signal transmission from a coil placed in close proximity parallel to the pipe outer surface. This signal is detected by a pair of orthogonal receiving coils mounted on the mandrel in close proximity to the pipe inner surface. The phases of the received signals with respect to the transmitted signal and the ratio of the amplitudes of the two received signals is used to estimate the relative position of the transmitter and the receivers. Control of the mandrel along with transmission of reference phase information is accomplished via a high frequency direct sequence spread spectrum radio link between a computer console outside the pipe mounted on the bender and a computer unit mounted inside the pipe on the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 6240758
Abstract: A hydraulic machine for operation such as for pressurizing a workpiece and molding products from materials by using a reciprocation mechanism comprising a hydraulic cylinder unit. The cylinder unit comprises two types cylinder chambers having different cross-sectional areas, and a third or plural cylinder chambers. Hydraulic oil sent out from a hydraulic pump driven by a servo motor, is fed through a hydraulic circuit into the cylinder unit. The shifting position of the reciprocation movement is detected, and path switching in the hydraulic circuit and revolving operation of the servo motor are controlled on the basis of the detected shifting position. In case the reciprocation movement is used for pressurizing a workpiece by a die, the hydraulic oil is fed to the cylinder chamber for forward of small cross-sectional area until slightly before the die comes into contact against the workpiece, and the die shifts at high speed relative to a workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6192732
Abstract: A bending method and bending apparatus directed to avoiding the risk of die breakage and damage to ram coupling parts due to an abnormal condition of a ram drive shaft and directed to achieving high-accuracy bending in which a uniform bend angle can be produced throughout the entire length of a workpiece without forming a boat-formed belly. In a press brake having three or more drive shafts, the deformation amounts of the ram and the table at each shaft-load imposed point are calculated based on input bending process data. A target closest distance between the punch and the die at each shaft-load imposed point is calculated from its corresponding deformation amounts. The difference between the actual bend angle of the workpiece after bending and a target bend angle is obtained at at least three positions, that are, the ends and center of the workpiece. From these differences, a correction amount for the moving amount of the ram at each shaft-load imposed point is obtained.
