  • Publication number: 20150082846
Abstract: An apparatus for forging a hollow body from a pre-perforated hollow block includes forging tools that can be driven radially in relation to a forging axis, a clamping head which is displaceable on a guide bed in the direction of the forging axis and includes collet chucks for the hollow block, and a mandrel carriage which is arranged on the side of the clamping head facing away from forging tools, which is displaceable independently of the clamping head along the guide bed, and whose mandrel bar provided with the forging mandrel penetrates the clamping head coaxially to the forging axis. In order to provide advantageous constructional conditions the mandrel carriage includes an axial actuating drive for the mandrel bar and can be coupled in a tension-proof manner to the clamping head.

  • Patent number: 8676371
Abstract: A rolling train for rolling a strip has a number of rolling stands and a coiler. The rolling stands have work and backing rolls. Data of the strip are fed to a control device of the rolling train which determines individual pass reductions for the rolling stands based on the data. It controls the main rolling stands and the coiler such that the strip is rolled in the main rolling stands according to the individual pass reductions and then coiled up. It determines the individual pass reductions such that they are zero and controls the rolling stand arranged directly upstream of the coiler such that—with respect to this main rolling stand—the tension in the strip on the outlet side is less than on the inlet side, but the strip runs through this rolling stand without undergoing any forming, at least on one side.

  • Publication number: 20110048088
Abstract: The invention describes an automatic stop device (1), that can be positioned by means of a control and regulating device of a bending press, in particular an edging press, for positioning a workpiece (6) to be shaped by bending deformation between bending tools (4, 5) arranged opposite one another in a table bar (2) and a bending bar (3) adjustable in relation to the latter. It comprises a stop support slide (13) and a stop support (14) on the latter projecting substantially in perpendicular direction to a bending plane (8) formed by the bending tools (4, 5) and a stop element (15) which forms a finger section and is adjustable in a guiding arrangement (16) running perpendicular to the bending plane (8) relative to the stop support (14) between a position of rest facing the bending plane (8) and a stop position spaced apart from the latter against the effect of a spring arrangement (21).

  • Publication number: 20100263421
Abstract: A metal forming machine for cold forming a metal product to a desired dimension and/or configuration includes a forming means with at least one movable part for applying load to the metal product. A position sensing means establishes a measured position of the movable part indicative of a measured dimension and/or configuration of the metal product, and a load measuring means establishes a measured load applied by the moving part. A control means selects a nominal load (nom load) setting to achieve the desired dimension and/or configuration (pos nom), and enables actuation of the forming means until a calibration load (cal load) is reached where the position sensing means establishes the measured dimension and/or configuration (pos cal), whereupon the load is lowered. The control means then establishes a new load setting as a function of (pos nom) minus (pos cal), and reactivates the forming means to the new load setting to form the metal product.

  • Publication number: 20090197217
Abstract: A robotic bending apparatus for bending archwires and other types of elongate, bendable medical devices into a desired configuration includes a first gripping tool and a moveable gripping tool. The first gripping tool can be either fixed with respect to a base or table for the robot or positioned at the end of robot am. The moveable gripping tool is mounted to the end of a moveable robot arm having a proximal portion also mounted to the base. The robot preferably comprises a six axis bending robot, in which the distal end of the moveable arm can move relative to the fixed gripping tool about three translational axes and three rotational axes. The gripping tools preferably incorporate force sensors which are used to determine overbends needed to get the desired final shape of the archwire. The robot may also include a resistive heating system in which current flows through the wire while the wire is held in a bent condition to heat the wire and thereby retain the bent shape of the wire.

  • Patent number: 6853927
Abstract: A method of measuring planarity of strip in a strip-rolling line or a strip-processing line in which a measuring beam, a plurality of measuring beams or discrete measuring pins in an inclined pattern across a measuring roller, measures the tension forces acting upon the strip to form a force summation foundation across the strip width. A tension distribution function is derived from the force summation function by taking derivatives of the force-summation function with respect to the width dimension of the strip and, if desired, dividing that derivative by the thickness of the strip.
