Patent number: 7647802Abstract: A method of manufacturing a one-piece flexible tube connector includes obtaining a tube blank having an initial length, an initial outer diameter, and an initial wall thickness. The tube blank is secured in a fixture and fed longitudinally into a forming tool. During the forming process, one of the tube blank and the forming tool is spun increasing an initial wall thickness of a portion of the tube blank to a second wall thickness, while the initial outer diameter of the tube blank is controlled. The thickened portion of the tube blank extends along a second length of the tube blank that is less than the initial length. After the spinning process, an attachment feature, such as a barbed feature, is formed or machined into the thickened portion of the tube blank to produce the one-piece flexible tube connector.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2006Date of Patent: January 19, 2010Assignee: Sunspring America, Inc.Inventors: Gary Lee Knirk, Scott S. Sheppard, Gary Orelyn Crawford

Patent number: 7412866Abstract: A method for manufacturing a one-piece axle tube housing with localized sections of increased wall thickness includes providing a tube blank, inserting a mandrel having a reduced diameter profile, passing the tube through an extrusion die to conform the tube to the shape of the mandrel; and extraction of the mandrel from the tube to cause outward deformation of the tube at specific locations. A further reducing step may be used to form the final desired profile, including reduced inner and outer diameters along sections of the axle tube housing.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2005Date of Patent: August 19, 2008Assignee: ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Canada Inc.Inventors: Mamad Jahani, Colin Newport

Publication number: 20070204668Abstract: A preparatory working device by which a work piece to be fed to a rack bar forging device is obtained. The device is provided with a die sets for obtaining a diameter reduction at a location of a blank pipe, which becomes a toothed part of a rack bar, while the wall thickness being substantially unchanged or slightly increased. The device is further provided with a die set for reducing a wall thickness at a location of the blank pipe, which becomes a connection part of the rack bar. The wall thickness reduction is one half of the initial thickness, which causes the length of the work piece to be elongated. Then a rack bar forging by a die set is done.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2007Publication date: September 6, 2007Inventor: Seiji Shiokawa

Patent number: 7107682Abstract: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing tubes and profiles with variable wall thickness over the length. The method comprises the steps of flexible rolling of continuous material strip with variable thickness in the longitudinal direction of the strip material to a final wall thickness which is continuously reduced with respect to the original wall thickness, reshaping the material strip to form a continuous tube or profile and cutting to length individual tube or profile pieces from the continuous tube or profile.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2004Date of Patent: September 19, 2006Assignee: Muhr und Bender KGInventor: Andreas Hauger

Patent number: 6729170Abstract: A fuser roller is obtained by heating a blank over predetermined regions starting from both the opening ends, and then necking the heated regions of the blank by moving a forming roller with rotation on the heated regions through the external pressing of the forming roller against the heated regions of the blank being rotated on its axis to draw form sidewalls integrally at both ends of a cylindrical body of the blank, respectively, and draw form cylindrical shafts integrally with the sidewalls, respectively. In this manner, the fuser roller can be fabricated using a single processing machine with respect to a single pipe member, which reduces equipment cost, further enhances production efficiency and implements low-cost production of fuser rollers.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2002Date of Patent: May 4, 2004Assignees: Samtech Corporation, Samtech International, Inc.Inventors: Teppei Sakaguchi, Yoshiki Sakaguchi

Patent number: 6321581Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing a region of greater wall thickness in a longitudinal hollow section (1) which, to this end, is subjected to a radial and axial pressure and plastically deformed thereby. The hollow section (1) is secured in a matrix (2) corresponding to the section dimensions which has an enlarged cross section corresponding to the intended final dimensions of the hollow section (1) in the deformation region. The essential embodiment consists in that the deformation to attain an increased wall thickness (14) takes place in a region between the ends of the section. In addition, the wall thickness (19) can be increased at at least one of the ends of the section.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1999Date of Patent: November 27, 2001Assignee: Audi AGInventors: Hans-Günther Haldenwanger, Jurgen Oswald, Frank Fischer, Holger Wenzel
