And Additional Work-engaging Tool, Circumferentially Spaced About Axis Of Work Rotation Patents (Class 72/87)
  • Patent number: 11565300
Abstract: A method and a device for spin forming includes a workpiece set in rotation with a spindle and at least one outer roller is positioned at an outer side of the workpiece. With material thinning, an axially extending lateral region of the workpiece is shaped. At least one inner roller is positioned at an inner side of the workpiece with an inner support, which is displaceable axially and radially relative to the axis of rotation independently of the outer roller. The inner support with the inner roller and an outer support with the outer roller are displaced individually with a CNC control unit, forming at the lateral region a defined wall thickness profile with different wall thicknesses between the at least one outer roller and the at least one inner roller.

  • Patent number: 11077482
Abstract: A radial/axial ring rolling mill for rolling a ring has an axial rolling device and a radial rolling device. The radial rolling device includes a main roller and a roller mandrel, between which the ring can be shaped. The roller mandrel is retained in the upper region thereof on a mandrel bearing head supported in a first linear adjustment device to be able to be horizontally adjusted in such that the roller mandrel can be moved perpendicularly to the longitudinal extent thereof in the direction towards the main roller and in the opposite direction thereto. The first linear adjustment device together with the mandrel bearing head and the roller mandrel is able to be adjusted as a unit by a second linear adjustment device in a vertical manner so that the roller mandrel can be pulled out of the inner space of the ring and introduced therein.

  • Patent number: 8689597
Abstract: This ring rolling mill includes a main roll and a mandrel that are brought close to or separated from each other, and roll a peripheral portion of a ring-shaped body in a radial direction of the ring-shaped body while the ring-shaped body is rotated along its peripheral direction in a state where the peripheral portion of the ring-shaped body is pinched in the radial direction between an outer peripheral surface of the main roll, and an outer peripheral surface of the mandrel. This ring rolling mill further includes a mechanism which inclines and supports the mandrel with respect to the rotation axis of the main roll such that the gap between the outer peripheral surface of the mandrel and the outer peripheral surface of the main roll differs on one side and on the other side as seen in a direction along the rotation axis of the main roll.

Abstract: This ring rolling mill includes a main roll and a mandrel provided so as to be capable of being brought close to or separated from each other, and rolling a peripheral portion of a ring-shaped body in a radial direction of the ring-shaped body while the ring-shaped body is rotated along its peripheral direction in a state where the peripheral portion of the ring-shaped body is pinched in the radial direction between an outer peripheral surface of the main roll which is rotationally driven, and an outer peripheral surface of the mandrel which is rotatable. This ring rolling mill further includes a mandrel inclining/supporting mechanism which inclines and supports the mandrel with respect to the axis of rotation of the main roll such that the gap between the outer peripheral surface of the mandrel and the outer peripheral surface of the main roll differs on one side and on the other side as seen in a direction along the axis of rotation of the main roll.

  • Publication number: 20090120152
Abstract: A method of rolling a ring from a metal blank comprises mounting the blank (2) on a mandrel (4) between two forming rolls (6) located on opposite sides of the mandrel axis. A pair of lower growth control rolls (12) are located below and with their axes parallel to and on opposite sides of the mandrel axis (8), and a pair of upper growth control rolls (16) are arranged above and with their axes parallel and on opposite sides of the mandrel axis (8). The spacing between the pair of upper growth control rolls is different from that between the pair of lower growth control rolls. As the ring is rolled, both the forming rolls and the growth control rolls are engaged with it. In a modification of the method, the upper growth control rolls are replaced by a single roll (20) with its axis disposed directly over the mandrel axis.

  • Patent number: 5778717
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process and to a device for the rolling of bands (B) with uneven thickness and/or length distribution over their width by using at least one control roller (5, 9, 21, 27, 41, 43) located on the inlet and/or outlet side of a mill (W, W', W") and capable of swiveling in its position relative to the band (B), making it possible in case of minor disturbances, independently of the existing operating conditions, to compensate for the running of a band caused by unevenness in the thickness and/or length distribution over the width of the band. This is achieved according to the invention in that the distribution of the tensile stress over the width of the band (B) is detected with at least one measuring device (7, 11, 25) and in that the control roller (5, 9, 21, 27, 41, 43) is adjusted in function of the detected distribution of tensile stress until the detected distribution of tensile stress is equal to a desired value.

  • Patent number: 5680784
Abstract: A method of controlling a form of a strip in a rolling mill. A plurality of paired data of manipulation amounts of form control actuators, and amounts of variations in the form of the strip corresponding to the manipulation amounts are prepared, as prototype manipulation examples. Calculation is performed to obtain a degree of similarity between an actual form error representing difference between an actual form of the strip and a target form, and variations in the form of the prototype manipulation examples. Then, actuator manipulation amounts of the prototype manipulation examples are weighted in accordance with calculated degree of the similarity, and the actuators are manipulated based on weighted actuator manipulation amounts.

  • Patent number: 4134284
Abstract: Hollow bodies are produced from deformable plane or conically shaped blanks by rotating the blanks about an axis extending at least approximately through the cross-sectional center of gravity of the hollow body to be formed and simultaneously forming undulations in the blank. The undular shaping involves continuous formation of a propagating wave having a directional component extending in a circumferential direction, with the wave being transposed by repeated undular shaping in a direction generally radially of the body to be formed. The waves are transposed exclusively parallel to the original plane of the blank and in a single directional sense toward the hollow body to be formed. In the formation process, the material is worked out of its original plane in a deflection zone annularly surrounding the cross-sectional center of gravity of the hollow body in the formation of the hollow body wall.
