  • Patent number: 6357272
Abstract: There are described a method and an apparatus for producing a gear wheel from a powder metal blank (1) pressed and sintered with an overmeasure in the toothing area, which powder metal blank is compacted under a plastic deformation in the vicinity of the overmeasure by pressing against a counter-toothing (8) of at least one rotating pressing tool (3) by the overmeasure, which counter-toothing engages in the toothing (9) of the powder metal blank (1). To create advantageous constructional conditions it is proposed that the counter-toothing (8) designed as internal toothing of the annular pressing tool (3) enclosing the powder metal blank (1) is pressed into the toothing (9) of the powder metal blank (1) by means of a pressure roller rolling on the outside periphery (10) of the pressing tool (3).

  • Patent number: 6349584
Abstract: An improved curling apparatus for curling the outer peripheries of container shells includes a plurality of inner rings vertically stacked and a plurality of outer ring-segments vertically stacked. Each of the inner rings have an outer surface and a groove in the outer surface which extends the entire periphery of the inner ring. Each of the outer ring-segments has an inner surface and a groove in the inner surface which extends the length of the outer ring-segment. The outer ring-segments partially encircle the inner rings with the inner ring grooves facing the outer ring-segment grooves. Each of outer ring-segments preferably has a unitary length extending about 240 degrees and an eccentric groove. The curling apparatus also includes a plurality of adjustment devices adapted to selectively move the outer ring segments relative to the inner rings to adjust a distance between the inner ring groove and the outer ring-segment groove at a desired location along the outer ring-segment groove.

  • Patent number: 4821547
Abstract: A straightener for straightening longitudinal cylindrical bars includes: a machine body, a driving wheel unit having plural driving wheels rotatably mounted on one side of the machine body, an idle plate assembly having plural idle plates retained on the opposite side of the machine body interlacedly facing the plural driving wheels, and a driving motor for driving the driving wheels, so that upon a transverse feeding of a deformed bar into a slit defined by the driving wheels and the idle plates and rotating the wheels as driven by the motor, the bar can be arcuately moved downwardly through the arcuate slit and rotatively bitten by the wheels and the idle plates to straighten the bar.

  • Patent number: 4341297
Abstract: An indexable rotary cylindrical magazine has part pockets around the periphery parallel to the magazine axis. A guide supplies parts end-to-end to an entrance end of a pocket in a loading position. A reciprocable feed finger engages the downstream end of any part in a pocket at the loading position to index the magazine to the next pocket only if the part is substantially completely received in that pocket at the loading position. Stripper prongs remove the parts from the filled pockets and supply them side-by-side into a part chute. A utilization machine such as a planetary thread rolling machine has a feed mechanism to receive parts from the chute exit and feed them into the threading area. The feed mechanism has feed-in, retract and a dwell range and the parts have approximately twice the length of time to be received in a pocket at the loading position as the time duration of said dwell range.

  • Patent number: 4331014
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for forming a chime bead adjacent the closed end of a seamless cup-shaped metal can body and a plurality of peripheral beads intermediate the opposite ends of the can body. The apparatus includes a plurality of beading spindles receiving and supporting can bodies for movement along an arcuate path. The beading spindles are provided with beading tool portions corresponding to the chime and intermediate beads to be formed on a can body. The frame supports axially offset and sequentially arranged outer beading rails positioned along the arcuate path of spindle movement. During movement of the spindles along the path between input and output stations of the apparatus, can bodies on the spindles are rotated about the spindle axes and, as each can body moves past the outer beading rails, the beading tool portions of the spindles and the outer beading rails cooperatively engage a can body therebetween to sequentially form first the chime bead and then the intermediate beads on the can body.

  • Patent number: 4195507
Abstract: A thread rolling machine is disclosed wherein a continuously adjustable thread means is used to adjust the relative phase timing between two thread rolling dies and the feeding of a workpiece by the feed means. This timing substantially eliminates any mismatch of thead rolling by the two dies. A double ended thread rolling machine is also disclosed with timing of the two dies relative to the feed of a workpiece accomplished at one end of a workpiece and then the continuously adjustable thread means is used to adjust the relative phase timing of the thread rolling operation on the other end of the workpiece. • Patent number: 4195508
Abstract: A thread rolling machine is disclosed wherein a continuously adjustable timing screw is used to adjust the phase of the feed of a workpiece relative to the instantaneous position of a rotary die cooperating with a stationary die. This timing substantially eliminates any mismatch of thread rolling by the two dies. The rotatable timing screw adjusts the peripheral position of a cam follower relative to a feed cam by moving the fulcrum point of a bell crank lever on which the cam follower is carried. Rotation of the timing screw adjusts the peripheral position of the cam follower relative to the feed cam. The above description is merely one form of the invention and is not to be construed as limiting on the scope of the invention.
