Abstract: The invention relates to a method of receiving and securely recording digital data comprising a step for recording said digital data on a secured disk by a recorder/receiver belonging to a determined secured domain comprising several equipment items and defined by an identifier, a step for recording on the secured disk the identifier of the domain of the recorder/receiver to define this domain as the only domain in which the reproduction/copying of the multimedia content is authorized, wherein it comprises a prior step for recovering a disk key from the secured disk, and in that the domain identifier is encrypted by said disk key and the digital data is scrambled by title keys, said title keys being encrypted by said disk key. The invention also relates to a method of securely distributing digital data, an access device and a recorder/receiver.

Abstract: A method of initializing, provisioning, and managing a cable modem and a customer premise equipment device includes, prior to receiving the configuration file for the cable modem, providing an equipment identification message containing a description of the customer premise equipment device connected to the cable modem. In the case where the cable modem has yet to be provisioned, the configuration file received from the network server is a particular access-limiting configuration file that is selected from a group of access-limiting configuration files. The selection of the particular access-limiting configuration file is based on the description of the customer premise equipment device in the equipment identification message. This allows different devices to have different network restrictions or different walled gardens.

Abstract: A method and system for managing multiple user locks and deletion requests on a digital video recorder (DVR) is disclosed. Files associated with the DVR can be protected from deletion by allowing users to lock a recorded file utilizing a number of locking strategies. The recorded file can also be locked by multiple users and the recording can be deleted when the users specifically remove the lock. A simpler interface for each user can be provided to prevent other users from deleting recorded files, which have not yet been viewed. Such an approach allows for an administrative override to prevent users from locking recordings and never unlocking in order to prevent the DVR exhausting disk space.

Abstract: A tag sharing method and system. The method includes receiving by a computer processor, an audio/video data file and tag data describing different subject matter of audio/video data of the audio/video data file. The computer processor associates portions of the tag data with audio/video subsets of the audio/video data and in response the computer processor generates a modified audio/video data file including independent audio/video tags. Each audio/video tag of the independent audio/video tags includes an audio/video subset of the audio/video subsets independently stored with an associated portion of the portions of the tag data. The computer processor receives rule data comprising rules associated with allowing users of a social networking system to view each audio/video subset. The computer processor stores the modified audio/video data file and the rule data.

Abstract: A method of displaying content on a TV using over-the-top (OTT) processes where the viewer has a user experience similar to or identical with conventional TV usage. The viewer powers on the TV and the last channel or service that was watched is displayed wherein all the content is displayed using OTT and the viewer does not have to execute any other steps, such as going to an app menu and launching a TV app in order to watch OTT content. It is determined whether an input source for the TV is set to a virtual input source. A TV app that enables OTT viewing (viewing TV content via an IP network) is executed. Once the TV app launches, normal TV operations can be performed. The virtual input source of the TV is linked to the TV application.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating domain-compliant image data. Domain-specific usage rights may be evaluated. The domain-specific usage rights may be associated with the transfer of particular encoded image data to a particular computing system other than the computing system. The domain-specific usage rights may specify maximum allowable spatial frequency content of the particular encoded image data. Domain-compliant image data may be generated by removing particular disallowable spatial frequency content from the encoded image data prior to transfer to the particular computing system.

Abstract: Systems and methods for logging network discoverable information. An indication of user-interest of particular media content may be identified. An address identification parameter that specifies a network file path of the particular media content may be identified based on the indication of user-interest. A location parameter that specifies an estimated physical location of the particular computing device within a computing network may be determined based on the address identification parameter. The address identification parameter may be stored within a network accessible media content log.

Abstract: A video processing system located at a remote location such as a TV broadcasting station or an Internet media server stores a plurality of video elements at that are delivered to a viewing system located at a viewer's premises. The video processing system is capable of receiving a selection request comprising two or more video elements or subsets thereof, wherein the subsets are regions of interest or portions of the corresponding video elements. The video processing system constructs a custom video by combining them based on the viewer' selection and using the region of interest that are provided, and forwards the custom video to the viewing system. Billing based on record of usage is also supported for the custom video.

The video-on-demand server is configured to provide video-on-demand content through a broadband connection to a set-top box device. The authentication server is in communication with the video-on-demand server. The authentication server is configured to receive a request to allow access to a video-on-demand package that includes the video-on-demand content, to determine if a user is currently authorized to constantly receive a broadcast package that includes a plurality of broadcast channels related to the video-on-demand content, and to authorize a broadcast channel in the broadcast package when not currently authorized to receive the broadcast package.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing parental control support in video mosaic environment are disclosed. Upon receiving a request for a video mosaic page, screen data, which may include parental control information, is received. The screen data may identify the video assets in the video mosaic page. A determination is made whether the video assets in the video mosaic page are locked or unlocked by parental controls in force on the user equipment. Locked assets may be masked and individually unlocked upon verification of a parental control access code or PIN. Unlocked assets may be presented in cells, or windows, in the video mosaic page and may also be individually locked and subsequently masked. A separate set of parental control settings may be maintained for video mosaic pages or the mosaic parental control commands may be resolved with system parental control settings.

An apparatus that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a monitoring system having a controller element that submits a correlation ID to a service orchestration system (SOS) that manages one or more order fulfillment systems (OFSs) that collectively fulfill a select one of a plurality of telecommunication service orders according to a plurality of intermediate fulfillment steps, receives from the SOS information associated with the plurality of intermediate fulfillment steps tagged with the correlation ID, records said information according to the correlation ID, and collects correlated fulfillment activity for the plurality of telecommunication service orders from a plurality of iterations of the foregoing steps. Abstract: A switcher device comprises a multiplexer coupled in-between at least one input and output cards. The multiplexer detects the presence of an event signal from an activated sink. In response to the detection of the event signal, the switch dynamically switches to a closed position in order to enable the at least one source to authenticate with the input card and the output card to authenticate with the at least one sink for security protocol encryption. In response to the non-detection of the event signal, the switch switches dynamically to an open position in order to disable the at least one source from authenticating with the input card, therefore the output card also does not attempt to authenticate with the at least one sink for security protocol encryption.

Abstract: A set top box or like device incorporating an untrusted software framework as a client of a secure operating system kernel. The software framework may comprise, for example, an Android framework supported by an underlying Linux operating system environment having a secure kernel. The software framework can be executed using a variety of process isolation techniques depending on performance and isolation requirements. A secure access client/server interface may also be provided to support interactions between the untrusted software framework (and applications utilizing the untrusted software framework) and secure or trusted portions of the device. The secure access interface can be configured to perform operations such as handle validation, heap pointer validation, non-pointer parameter validation, heap isolation, and resource release relating to terminated processes.

Abstract: Subject matter described herein relates to providing to a mobile device a version of content (e.g., music, video, text message, live call, etc.) that is consistent with a user's filter setting. That is, a user is allowed to specify content elements (e.g., words or images) that are proscribed from being presented on the mobile device, and the user's preferences are stored by a mobile telecommunications network. When the network receives content to be provided to the mobile device, the network edits the content in real time to prevent proscribed elements from being presented on the mobile device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for enabling an administrator to monitor and control usage of media content in a locale. In one embodiment, the locale includes one or more media devices that have access to media content from one or more local and/or remote content sources. Usage data defining usage of the media content by a user is obtained. A pattern including two or more media segments consumed by the user is detected based on the usage data and one or more predefined pattern detection rules. The administrator is then enabled to review the pattern and choose whether to block usage. Usage of at least one of the media segments included in the pattern is then blocked at the one or more media devices at the locale in response to the administrator choosing to block usage of the at least one of the media segments included in the pattern.

When the overlay is displayed on top of video for a given television channel of the plurality of television channels, the overlay may include information of the default set of information types. One or more television channels of the plurality of television channels may be identified as channels for which the default set of information types does not apply (e.g., channels for which the overlay is not displayed or for which a custom set of information types is defined).

At an acquisition tier, IPTV packets are generated from video stream data of one or more video channels and transmitted to a FCC server cluster at a client-facing tier.
