  • Patent number: 4643634
Abstract: A handling apparatus for work pieces such as sheet metal pieces which are to be formed in a sheet metal press. The handling apparatus is designed to pick up a work piece from a first location which may comprise a stack of sheets, and to then move the work piece to a second location which may comprise the tool of the forming press. In the course of movement, the work piece will generally travel laterally, however, a vertical component of movement is imposed in at least one location, for example, when placing the work piece in position at the forming station. The drive means for moving the gripping means comprises a driver and a first shaft supporting a primary arm. A connection is provided between the first shaft and the driver so that the driver oscillates the primary arm. A pivoting follower is also associated with the driver so that movement of the driver simultaneously controls movement of the follower.

  • Patent number: 4597708
Abstract: A wafer handler featuring a carriage movable along a rail path, the carriage supporting an upright rotatable arm with a cantilevered wafer chuck. Elevators for raising and lowering trays containing wafer stacks are disposed on either side of the rail path. Each elevator has a curved track section which may be interposed along the rail path. The upright arm has a track follower, parallel to a boom supporting the wafer chuck and freely movable along the rail path, except when it encounters a curved track section. In this instance, the track follower will follow the curved track section, causing rotation of the arm, boom and wafer chuck, bringing the chuck into the wafer stack at an elevation determined by the elevator. In this manner, motion in the X, Y and Z planes may be provided for stacked wafers over extended distances.

  • Patent number: 4126051
Abstract: This invention relates to a channel selector suitable for use in a television receiver set. The channel selector comprises a channel selecting shaft which is linked to a variable capacitor shaft through an Oldham coupler. A fine tuning shaft also is linked to the variable capacitor shaft through a coupler incorporating an incremental detent arrangement.Selection of a channel is made by turning the channel selection shaft to move the variable capacitor shaft by a suitable angle (for instance, about 2.degree.). When the channel selection shaft is turned by such an amount, the coupler slips so as to allow the variable capacitor shaft to turn independently of the fine tuning means. Once a channel is selected, fine tuning is made by slightly turning (for instance, within 0.3.degree.) the fine tuning shaft to correspondingly rotate the shaft of the variable capacitor. The channel selector also comprises means for memorizing the results of the fine adjustments for individual channels.

  • Patent number: 4075899
Abstract: This invention relates to operating mechanisms for hydraulic control systems and it is an object of the invention to provide an operating mechanism which is self-locking. The mechanism includes a bar which is slidable in a channel, one face of the bar being cut away to provide two inclined surfaces. Rollers are retained by springs in the spaces between the inclined surfaces and one side of the channel. A plate is also located between the bar and the said side of the channel and a control member serves to displace this plate along the channel. The arrangement is such that, when the plate is displaced in either direction, it pushes a respective one of the rollers towards one end of the bar, thereby allowing it to roll down the inclined surface. On the other hand, if a force is applied to the bar in either direction, a respective one of the rollers will move up the inclined surface and wedge against the side of the channel, thereby locking the bar in position.

  • Patent number: 4043206
Abstract: In arrangement of a channel selecting device used for a UHF tuner of the continuously variable type, a taper clutch is employed for transmitting the rotation of the detented selector shaft to the output drive gear which is secured to the fine tuning shaft positioned inside the selector shaft. The taper clutch is formed by engagement of the annular inner surface of a hollow portion in the end of the selector shaft and the annular outer surface of a hub member of the fine tuning shaft, each of surfaces has a taper angle (2.theta.) in the range of about 20.degree. to 9.degree. to frictionally couple the selector shaft and the drive gear, and is coated with a layer of lubricant materials to permit the rotation of the fine tuning shaft independent of the selector shaft. This taper clutch provides stable and smooth operation in the extended temperature range and without any undesired creep between the selector shaft and the fine tuning shaft.
