Rack Connections Patents (Class 74/46)
  • Patent number: 8567270
Abstract: A transmission includes an input coupled to reciprocate a lug along a stroke path. The lug is coupled between a shuttle and a persuader, the shuttle is coupled to drive an output in response to reciprocation of the shuttle along a drive path, and the persuader is coupled between the lug and the shuttle and is operable to change the stroke path between an inoperative direction relative to the drive path isolating the shuttle from the forcible reciprocation of the lug and an operative direction relative to the drive path transferring the forcible reciprocation of the lug along the stroke path to the shuttle imparting reciprocation to the shuttle along the drive path. Forcible reciprocation of the lug is transferred to the shuttle along an infinitely variable gearing range between the inoperative and operative directions of the stroke path of the lug relative to the drive path of the shuttle.

  • Patent number: 7654802
Abstract: A reciprocating drive apparatus has a driving device and a driven device, one of the devices comprising a reciprocating member mounted for movement along a longitudinal axis. At least one rotary member is coupled to one of the devices and a linear bearing assembly has a linear guide rail and a linear slide member with an end coupled to the other device. A connecting link has a first end pivotally connected to the rotary member and a second end pivotally linked to the slide member. Where the reciprocating member is the driven device, rotation of the rotary member will cause the reciprocating member to move back and forth along the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 7077023
Abstract: In a toroidal continuously variable transmission, a roller-and-cage bearing assembly is interleaved between a power-roller outer ring and a trunnion power-roller accommodating portion to permit a parallel translation of a power roller in an axial direction of input and output disks. A cage of the roller-and-cage bearing assembly is formed with an oval slotted hole. A disk-shaped member is attached to the trunnion power-roller accommodating portion. The slotted hole and the disk-shaped member are fitted to each other to define a predetermined clearance that limits a displacement of the roller-and-cage bearing assembly in a direction perpendicular to both a rotation axis of the power roller and a trunnion axis to a set displacement.

  • Patent number: 4969376
Abstract: A planetary drive containing two gear wheels with differing numbers of teeth and a radially flexible planetary wheel in engagement with these gear wheels. The planetary wheel has internal teeth and external teeth and is arranged at least partially in an annular gap between a hollow wheel and a sun wheel. The planetary wheel is forced by a cam element into the gaps between the teeth of the gear wheels in engagement zones. There are four engagement zones distributed around the circumference of the planetary wheel in which the teeth of the planetary wheel engage either the hollow wheel or the sun wheel. A roller bearing is provided between the cam element and the planetary wheel. The drive has a short axial structural length and a low manufacturing cost, assures uniform loading of the gear teeth, and enables the reduction ratio to be selectively predetermined throughout a large range.

  • Patent number: 4884464
Abstract: A rotatable arm carrying an operative member is pivoted on a main housing (10) for movement between a rest position and a work position. A rotary shaft (28) is also journaled in the housing and can be driven by a wound spring (34) for rotary movement, which is transformed into a reciprocating, partial rotation of the arm by a linkage comprising meshing gears (18, 22) on the arm and on a fixed axis, and a crank and slotted link (24, 26, 30) between said shaft and the gears. A first and a second locking units (12, 14) are mounted stationarily with respect to the housing, each comprising a spring-biased pawl (40, 42) to engage the arm when it reaches said rest position and said work position, respectively, and each being releasable by an external control.
