  • Patent number: 4265141
Abstract: This multiplier includes a first link unit in a force transferring relationship with one of an actuator and a device to be actuated. A second link unit is pivotably connected to the first link unit in a force transferring relationship with the other of the actuator and the device to be actuated. At least one spring in a force transferring relationship with at least one of the first and second link units is provided. The first and second link units are disposed between the actuator and the device to be actuated with the first and second link units in cooperation with each other and the spring providing a relatively linearly increasing multiplied output force to the device to be actuated when the actuator is actuated.

  • Patent number: 4261546
Abstract: A power-driven quarter-turn valve actuator includes a reciprocating drive member in the form of a rod mounted perpendicularly to and spaced a preselected distance from a valve stem. A crank arm is coupled to the valve stem so that the axis of the crank arm makes an angle of between approximately 60.degree. and 100.degree. with a line intersecting the stem axis and perpendicular to the rod axis when the valve is shut and makes an angle of between minus 30.degree. and plus 10.degree. with said line when the valve is fully open. A link member connects the outer end of the crank arm to a point on the reciprocating rod. The preselected distance between actuator rod and valve stem, and the lengths of the crank arm and link, are chosen to produce a variable actuator torque output curve that closely matches the operating torque requirements of the valve.

  • Patent number: 4149433
Abstract: The invention provides a brake operating device wherein an operating lever pivoted on a frame transmits an applied force with a variable ratio through a roller and cam-lever mechanism to the brake linkage. A two-armed cam lever is pivoted on the frame and has one arm connected to the brake linkage and on its other arm there is provided a cam track upon which is guided a roller rotatably mounted on the operating lever. There is a recess in the cam lever in the vicinity of its pivot mount and this recess has an approximately semi-circular configuration to receive the roller when the operating lever is in its release position. The cam track on the cam lever is disposed between the pivot mount of the operating lever and the pivot mount of the roller on the operating lever.

  • Patent number: 4111062
Abstract: A rocker shaft is rotatably mounted and integral with a control valve of a hydrostatic transmission. The valve shaft may be rotated in an arc to either side of a neutral position. A housing is mounted to the control valve with rocker shaft projecting into the housing. A pair of levers are pivotally mounted on the rocker shaft in scissored relationship thereon and an actuating arm is rotatably mounted on the housing to engage camming surfaces defined on first ends of the levers. A drive member or dog is secured to the rocker shaft to engage between second ends of the levers whereby pivotal movments of the actuating arm will transmit pivotal movements of the levers to the rocker shaft to control mechanisms of the control valve. The second ends of the levers are biased towards each other into engagement with the drive member by a coil spring and a stop lug is secured on each of the levers to engage and pivot the other one of the levers in response to pivotal movements of the actuating arm.

  • Patent number: 4069722
Abstract: A brake pedal lever assembly having a cam surface engaged by a cam follower on one end of a master cylinder push rod and so arranged that as the brake pedal lever is moved in the brake actuating direction a cam also on the pedal lever moves the push rod cam follower upwardly toward the brake pedal lever pivot point, increasing the brake pedal lever ratio. A modification has a jointed pedal lever which yieldably resists bending movement. When the bending movement does occur, the cam moves the push rod cam follower at a faster rate, increasing the pedal ratio at a faster rate.

  • Patent number: 4028946
Abstract: A control lever assembly for controlled reciprocation of an operating member which may be a Bowden cable for regulating the flow rate of a pump supplying a hydraulic motor in a hydrostatic transmission. In addition to the usual pivotally mounted control lever, an intermediate lever is pivotally connected between the control lever and the operating member. The intermediate lever is received in a sleeve member which is pivotally mounted about a fixed axis spaced from the fixed axis about which the control lever pivots. The sensitivity of the control lever assembly is thus made smoother and more gradual proximate to the neutral or dead center position of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 3988945
Abstract: A control lever mechanism which operates to provide a different mechanical advantage at different points in the range of movement of a main operating control member and in dependence on the force applied to, and the force of resistance to the movement of, the main control member is disclosed. The main control lever is pivoted to a fixed fulcrum and linked to a force transmission member by a second pivot forming a fulcrum which is movable along an arcuate path closer to or further away from the fixed fulcrum. When both the fixed fulcrum and the movable fulcrum lie on the same side of the line of action of the force transmission member a component of the applied force tends to move the movable fulcrum towards the fixed fulcrum to increase the mechanical advantage of the control lever.

  • Patent number: 3938407
Abstract: According to the present disclosure a variable ratio parking brake control has a foot operated lever with a cam slot. A guide member is pivotally connected to the lever and it also has a cam slot. A clevis that is connected to a parking brake cable has a bearing pin which is slidably supported within the cam slots of the lever and the guide member. A spring is supported by the guide member and exerts a spring force urging the clevis to the outer ends of the two cam slots. The clevis is slidable from the outer ends of the cam slots to the inner ends of the slots in response to both displacement of the lever from a brake released position to a brake applied position and a load on the clevis that exceeds an amount determined by the force of the spring. The displacement of the clevis from the outer end of the cam slot of the lever to the inner end of the slot increases the mechanical advantage ratio of the brake control system.
