  • Patent number: 6308586
Abstract: The invention relates to a gear transmission with a steplessly adjustable translation ratio for converting of rotary speeds and of torques of shafts. The uniform rotary motion of a drive shaft is transferred to a driven shaft with the aid of time staggered operating gear transmission units. The rotary motion is transformed by a cam transmission initially into a uniform translational motion and in the following this uniform translational motion is transformed into another, also uniform translational motion, with a speed depending on the translation ratio setting with a translation device. Finally this translational motion is transferred again into a uniform rotary motion by a further planar cam transmission and transferred to the driven shaft.

  • Patent number: 6230575
Abstract: The invention relates to a transmission gear with a steplessly adjustable translation for converting rotation speeds and torques between two shafts. Such converters are employed in all areas of the drive technology, as for example in machine tools and vehicle drives. The transmission gear according to the present invention allows a uniform motion transfer from the drive shaft to the driven shaft while simultaneously inducing substantially less wear appearances at its function determining transmission gear elements, in particular of the transmission gear part system at the side of the driven shaft. Means are furnished for reducing wear, which means superpose an additional motion influencing the speed of the driven shaft only unsubstantially to the translation motions of the translation device.

  • Patent number: 4739667
Abstract: A power transmission apparatus transmits power from a rotatable cam to an output mechanism. A variable length lever, comprised of first and second lever sections, is pivoted to a lever support by a fulcrum. The lever sections telescopingly or otherwise interconnected to allow the over-all length of the lever to vary. In addition, the first lever section includes a cam following end portion which is drivenly coupled to the cam. Also, the second lever section has an output end portion which is pivoted to the output mechanism. The lever oscillates when the cam following end portion is driven by the cam and drives the output mechanism. A drive adjustment device moves the fulcrum relative to the cam following and output end portions of the first and second lever sections. This varies the throw of the output end portion with the zero drive being possible.

Abstract: A transferring mechanism is arranged to transfer parts from one place to another. The mechanism includes a cam lever which is rotated by a cam. A follower lever is rotatable and has a transfer member (e.g., a chuck) mounted at its free end. A connecting structure has a first connection with the cam lever and a second connection with the follower lever in order to transmit rotary motion from the former to the latter. The first and second connectors are slidable along the cam and follower levers, respectively, in order to change the length of the stroke of the transfer member. A displacement mechanism is connected to the connecting structure for moving the latter and its first and second connections. The displacement mechanism is mounted independently of the cam lever and follower cam.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for hardening a surface of a cam which forms a chill layer of equal depth on the surface of the cam. The method includes the steps of rotating a cylinder cam and thereby oscillating a holder, rotating a camshaft on which the cam whose surface is to be hardened is located and emitting the high energy toward the surface to be hardened. The cylinder cam which is rotated includes a guide groove which includes at least two straight grooves and at least two `V` shape connecting portions so that `V` shape connecting portions connect the straight grooves and form a continuous peripheral guide groove on a surface of the cylinder cam. The holder which holds the camshaft is oscillated at a constant speed in the axial direction of the camshaft by the rotation of the cylinder cam. The camshaft is rotated in the circumferential direction of the camshaft concurrently with the oscillation of the holder.

Abstract: A reduced thickness trimmer unit for electric shavers is mounted within and partly on a head casing. The unit has a frame, a stationary cutter on one end and a movable cutter which cooperates with the stationary cutter. The frame contains a resilient leg which extends interiorly thereof and within the plane thereof so as to resiliently support at its free end a coupling element for connection with the movable cutter. The coupling element engages with an eccentric cam carried on the driving shaft of the motor so that it is driven by the driving shaft to reciprocate relative to the frame within the plane of the frame as the resilient leg limits the coupling element to move in the reciprocating direction within the plane of the frame. The resilient leg and the coupling element combine to convert rotary motion of the driving shaft into reciprocatory motion of the movable cutter in the trimmer unit and are received within the thickness of the frame.
