Abstract: A non-slip continuously variable transmission (CVT) uses the positive engagement of gear teeth and does not rely on friction to transmit torque. The transmission has a ring gear with spur gear teeth at its periphery and conical teeth at its top surface adjacent to an offset circular track. The circular track or channel guide is a slightly smaller diameter than the ring gear and is positioned within the ring gear. Short plates with worm gears pivoted on cantilever brackets are constrained to move within the circular path defined by the channel guide. Due to the offset from the ring gear, a plate traversing this path will engage the conical teeth of the ring gear over a short arc of travel as the worm gear enters and then leaves engagement. This ability to move the ring gear over an arc by passing a worm gear plate around the near region of the circular channel can be reversed in both direction and in principal by having the ring gear move the worm gear plate.

Abstract: An adjustable crank mechanism comprises a sun gear rigidly attached to a main frame of the device and the sun gear meshed with an adjacent planetary gear of half diameter. A planetary crank arm rigidly projecting from the planetary gear generates an alternative movement of a corresponding linkage arm. A drive member constituted by a planetary crank arm jointed with a planet gear and a linkage arm jointed to the sliding pedal crank on a crank assembly makes the pedal crank extend to the maximum and return to the minimum rotating distance at each halves of cycle. Thus, the pedal on this pedal crank mechanism will move on a Gemini pedal trace to simulate the foot trace of human running or walking.

Abstract: The invention relates to a gearbox wherein the speed-increasing ratio and the speed-decreasing ratio are continuously regulated. Torque is transmitted from the input to the output by means of cyclically coupled gear shifting elements and the respective transmission ratio is adjusted by eccentrically displacing the input elements in relation to the output elements. According to the invention, the gear shifting elements are coupled by means of an adjustment which can be freely chosen in such a way that both transmissions towards higher rotational speeds and transmissions towards lower rotational speeds are possible.

Abstract: An automatic stepless speed-changing mechanism mainly includes a pivotal shaft, a plurality of mounting discs mounted along the pivotal shaft and provided with radially extended guide rails, a plurality of axial rods separately axially extended through the guide rails to slide and rotate therein, a transmission gear, a restoring mechanism, and driving members mounted on the axial rods, and a transmission member wound around the driving members. The driving members are preferably gears, and the transmission member is preferably a chain. When the transmission member brings the driving members to move, the axial rods, which are connected to the driving members and the transmission gear and the restoring mechanism, are caused to slide within the guide rails, resulting in changes in a radius of turn of the driving members to provide the function of automatic stepless change of speed.

Abstract: A torque transmission device for providing steplessly variable torque conversion. The torque transmission device has a set of unidirectionally-rotatable, slotted levers radiating from a first axis, capable of engaging a torque output ring which is also rotatable on the first axis. An abaxial ring, which has studs that operate in the slots of the levers, is rotatable on a parallel second axis which can orbit the first axis. Torque input induces the second axis to orbit the first, and the force of orbital motion bears, through the abaxial ring, on at least one lever in a direction opposite its rotatable direction, holding it fixed, and also bears on at least one other lever in a direction that coincides with its rotatable direction, causing it to rotate. The fastest-rotating lever engages and drives the torque output ring. Varying the distance between the first and second axes varies the torque conversion ratio.
