Abstract: A box end wrench includes an annular flange extending from a first side thereof and an inner diameter is larger than a maximum inner diameter of the box end. A compressible member is engaged with a second side of the box end and can be compressed by an object engaged with the box end. The compressible member pushes the object from the toothed inner periphery of the box end to a space enclosed by the annular flange, so that the object is retained in the box end while the handle of the wrench is allowed to be rotated in counter clockwise.

  • Patent number: 6860176
Abstract: A wrench includes a box end which has a through hole and a polygonal inner periphery is defined in an inner periphery of the through hole and located close to a first side of the box end. A plain inner surface is defined in the inner periphery of the through hole and located close to a second side of the box end. An inner diameter of the plain inner periphery is larger than an inner diameter of the polygonal inner periphery. A spring member is engaged with the through hole of the box end and enclosed by the polygonal inner periphery. A nut can be engaged with the polygonal inner periphery by pressing the spring member and is rotated with the wrench, or is freely rotatably engaged with the plain inner surface while the spring member is not compressed.

Abstract: An enclosed wrench has a drive head defined at an end provided with an opening therein, on the internal surface of the opening a plurality of uniform drive protrusions being disposed respectively and each of which is isosceles triangle structure, the sidelines of each adjacent pair of drive protrusion are crossed. A vertex of each drive protrusion is identical with that of a vertex of the respective isosceles triangle. The height of the isosceles triangle is equal to the sum of the absolute value of the international tolerance of the wrench and that of the corresponding working piece to be driven.

  • Patent number: 6851337
Abstract: A wrench for turning a gas tank yoke set screw having a transverse torque bar about a set screw axis to selectively mount the yoke on a valve body and dismount the yoke from the valve body. The wrench includes a wrench head including a face having an elongate groove extending along a central longitudinal groove axis between opposite first and second ends of the groove for receiving the torque bar. The groove has opposing side walls extending generally parallel to the central longitudinal groove axis between the first and second ends of the groove and is spaced apart by a distance generally equal to a width of the torque bar so that the groove engages the torque bar when the torque bar is received by the groove. The side walls extend inward into the wrench head from the face to a groove bottom.

  • Patent number: 6840139
Abstract: An improved tool for use in association with a deformable nut of a fastener includes a socket having inner surface that forms a cavity on the socket. The inner surface includes one or more engagement surfaces that are tapered inwardly at an angle that approaches a taper of a deformable wall of the deformable nut. In one embodiment the tapering of the engagement surfaces is provided by configuring the engagement surfaces to extend in a tapered fashion generally toward a central axis of the socket. In another embodiment, the tapering is provided by configuring the engagement surfaces to each extend in a spiral fashion about a spiral axis that may, for example, be parallel and spaced-apart from the central axis of the socket.
