Abstract: A locking ratchet wrench has a main body with an elongate handle portion and a stationary jaw at one end and a slotted guideway extending through the stationary jaw. A generally square aperture extends transversely through the stationary jaw and rearwardly from the slotted guideway. A movable jaw having ratchet teeth at its rear end is slidably fitted in the guideway. A locking pawl block is slidably retained for forward and rearward movement within the aperture and has locking teeth at the forward end thereof corresponding to the movable jaw ratchet teeth. A spring at the rear end of the locking pawl block normally urges it forward in the aperture. A movable handle pivotally mounted on the main body has front sides slidably received on each side of the aperture and movably connected to said to the locking pawl block to move it into and out of toothed engagement with the movable jaw ratchet teeth.
Abstract: A socket for tightening and loosening objects having a generally cylindrical section. The socket has a sliding jaw therein which grabs the object to be twisted similar to a pipe wrench. The socket has small teeth on the inner wall to allow it to grab bolts and nuts regardless of the shape thereof (hexagonal or square), and can even grab worn down bolts and nuts. The jaw is crescent shaped, wedged. A cam along the inside of the socket assists the grabbing action of the jaw.
Abstract: A socket for tightening and loosening objects having a generally cylindrical section. The socket has a sliding jaw therein which grabs the object to be twisted similar to a pipe wrench. Thus objects with a smooth surface, such as pipes, may be twisted. The socket has small teeth on the inner wall to allow it to grab bolts and nuts regardless of the shape thereof (hexagonal or square), and can even grab worn down bolts and nuts. The jaw is crescent shaped, and wedged. A cam along the inside of the socket assist the grabbing action of the jaw.
Abstract: An open-end ratchet wrench includes a handle element, a first jaw portion which is integrally formed with the handle element, a slide portion, a second jaw portion which is integrally formed with the slide portion, a restricting mechanism and a biasing spring. The slide portion is slidably mounted on the handle element so that the second jaw portion is positionable in a normal position wherein the first and second jaw portions cooperate to define a mouth for receiving the head of a fastening element and the biasing spring biases the second jaw portion toward the normal position thereof. The restricting mechanism maintains the second jaw portion in the normal position thereof when the wrench is manipulated to rotate the head of a fastening element in a first direction so that a turning force is applied to the fastening element.
Abstract: A wrench of the type having two handle members pivotally connected to one another at a pivot point. Each handle member terminates in a jaw member. Advancing a screw member causes one of the handle members to rotate about the pivot point so that the jaw members are brought together. A pair of slots translate the rotating motion of the handle member about the pivot point into linear components. The jaw members at the end of each handle are biased apart from one another by a spring, but the bias may be overcome by squeezing the handle or by advancing the screw member. When the screw member is fully retracted, the spring separates the jaw members. When the spring member is advanced, it prevents separation of the jaw members.
Abstract: The headed end of a wrench body of elongated rectangular form includes a first stationary jaw defining a first gripping surface. A slide mount foot projects from the body opposite the stationary jaw, and is spaced therefrom. It includes a flat bearing surface. A slidable jaw shoe mounts on the foot, and is slidable towards and away from the wrench body headed end. The shoe has a bite portion forming a second gripping surface which extends parallel to the stationary jaw first gripping surface and faces the same. A straight wire spring has one end fixed within a V-shaped groove which diverges from the stationary jaw within the side of the wrench body towards the foot with the straight wire spring having a free end fitting with an oblique slot within a sliding jaw shoe, permitting the slidable jaw shoe to move in opposition to the bias to ratchet the wrench about a nut or bolt head captured between the first and second gripping surfaces when rotating the wrench body in a first direction.
Abstract: An improved monkey wrench comprising a handle having two prongs each having a space through hole, a main body rotatably disposed between the prongs of the handle, a spring loaded jaw mounted at the main body in the way such that it may be slightly moved towards or away from the main body, a movable jaw movably mounted into the main body, a push member slidably mounted on the top of said main body and fixedly attached to the movable jaw, and an actuating member mounted at the center of the main body and fastened to the handle.
Abstract: Apparatus for drawing together mating surfaces of rubber or plastic insulating material which have a high resistance to sliding motion. The invention embodies a handle rotatable through an arc of about 180 degrees wherein the initial 150 degrees of rotation draws members which clamp the materials together, and the final 30 degrees of rotation urges the clamping members away from each other to permit the materials to elastically align themselves.
Abstract: A hand-operated tool of the pliers type includes a body member in which a rectilinear guiding track for a jaw carrier is provided. One stationary jaw for treating a working piece is arranged at one end of the guiding track and another jaw on the jaw carrier. A handle is pivoted to the body member laterally of the guiding track and is provided with faces for engagement with co-operating faces on the jaw carrier so as to press the jaw carrier and the jaw mounted on it towards the stationary jaw when the handle is activated.
Abstract: A bending tool for bending elongate members. The bending tool includes a support (12a/28) such as a support frame (28) for supporting the elongate member (40) and also includes a bending member (15a/32/34) such as a pusher member (15a) whereby the bending member (15a/32/34 may abut the elongate member (40). When either the bending member (15a/32/34) or support member (12a/28) is moved relative to the other this may cause bending of the elongate member (40). The bending tool also includes actuating members (10a/22a) for causing said relative movement between the support member (12a/28) and the bending member (15a/32/34).
Abstract: A wrench is formed of two jaws which are shaped to conform to standard fasteners, such as hex nuts, and are supported within a housing for translation relative to each other for gripping the fastener. Closing force on the jaws is exerted by a pivoting handle acting through an overcenter linkage. A crank-shaped lever is positioned contiguous to the overcenter linkage permits operation of the wrench with the jaws being either tightly clenched or slightly withdrawn from the fastener. One end of the overcenter linkage is connected to the housing by a screw which is rotated to set a spacing between the jaws.
Abstract: An elongate, vice-like hand tool including an elongate case with front, central and rear hand-grip portions, a work-engaging head at the front end of the case and including fixed and movable parts, an elongate tension member having a front end coupled with a movable part of the head and extending rearward through the central portion to the rear portion of the case, a toggle mechanism in the rear portion of the case including a longitudinally shiftable bar with a front end coupled with the rear end of the member, a manually engageable first lever arm with a front end pivoted to the case and shiftable from an actuated position adjacent the case to an actuated position where its rear end is moved laterally from the case, a second lever arm with a front end pivoted to the first arm rearward of its pivotal axis and means releasably establishing driving engagement with the bar and coupled with the rear end of the second arm, said means releases driving engagement with the bar when the first arm is in its fully unac
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a portable pipe wrench comprising a relatively stationary main frame including a rearwardly extending elongate handle and a forwardly disposed power train having a pair of roughened spurs for securely engaging and rotating a pipe segment and a nipple which is powerably actuatable by a suitable external torque-producing driver means. The portable pipe wrench also comprises a relatively movable jaw member slidably associated with the frame member and including a pair of idler wheels cooperating with the two spurs to rotatably manipulate the securely engaged pipe and further comprises a locking-adjusting assembly for the movable jaw relative to the main frame and the pipe. The main frame, the movable jaw, and the locking-adjusting assembly include several novel features which facilitate the task of securely engageably grasping and rotating the threaded pipe segment.
