With Angular Orientation Of Eccentric Pivots Joining Handles Patents (Class 81/406)
  • Patent number: 8146462
Abstract: A variable compression tool comprising a retaining surface attached to a lever arm and a cam surface attached to a second lever arm. The two arms are moveably connected through a fixed pivot point. The profile of the jaw pocket may be of various shapes. In one instantiation, the jaw pocket conforms to at least two sides of a nut. The orientation of the cam surface to the jaw pocket is such that the force generated by closing the jaws forces the nut into the retaining surface. Adjustment of the cam lever arm is regulated by an eccentric cam adjuster bearing which changes the effective center of rotation of lever arm two in two dimensions simultaneously by rotation of the bearing.

  • Patent number: 7140278
Abstract: A pair of manual tongs comprising two limbs which are rotatably connected in a common first rotational axis. The first limb is separated into two levers in its lever section, the two levers being rotatably connected in a first articulation, in a second rotational axis parallel to the common first rotational axis. A means of traction connects the second limb to the lever of the first limb, which is situated at a distance from the handle. The means of traction can be shortened by means of a pivotal movement of the lever of the first limb, which is situated close to the handle, above the second rotational axis. The areas of use of the manual tongs are often difficult to access. According to the invention, the second limb of the inventive manual tongs is thus separated into a lever situated at a distance from the handle and a lever situated close to the handle and the two levers are rotatably connected in a second articulation, in a third rotational axis which is parallel to the common first rotational axis.

  • Patent number: 5842371
Abstract: A wire crimper having a body with a fixed jaw, a lever, a movable jaw pivoted between the body and the lever, a ratchet member coupled between a body and a lever thereof, a release plate pivoted to the lever and forced by a spring into engagement with the ratchet, and an adjustment mechanism for adjusting the angular position of a ratchet member relative to the body, the adjustment mechanism including an eccentric shaft to which the ratchet member is pivoted, a fixed stub locating rod at the body, an adjustment wheel axially movably supported on the eccentric shaft and adapted for turning the eccentric shaft to change the angular position of the ratchet member, and a spring washer retained to the eccentric shaft and forcing adjustment wheel into engagement with the fixed stub locating rod to stop the adjustment wheel from rotary motion.

  • Patent number: 5176048
Abstract: An improved plier tool having a pair of crossed handle members each having a jaw at one end. The first of said handle members having a circular bore therethrough with the bore having an inner surface providing a first cam surface. A first disc-shaped cam positioned within this bore for rotation. The first cam further having an axle pin eccentrically mounted to the first cam and fixedly mounted to the second of said handle members. Further, a guide cam pin carried by the first handle member is positioned in spaced apart relation to the bore carrying the disc-shaped cam. A slot formed in the second member is spaced apart from the axle pin and is positioned to receive the guide cam pin. The slot having a second and third cam surface for bearing against the pivot pin.
