  • Patent number: 7194938
Abstract: An angular impact wrench is disclosed. The angular impact wrench can comprise a lever that is rotatable about a pivot axis and a reciprocably movable ram that is operatively arranged with the lever to rotate the lever. The lever includes a concave contact surface that is positioned to receive a convex contact surface of the ram. The convex contact surface of the ram is engageable with the concave contact surface of the lever. The lever, in turn, is connected to a drive that is suitable for receiving a socket, for example. The rotatable lever transmits the linear movement of the ram to a rotational movement, thereby imparting a torque to the drive suitable for loosening or tightening a fastener. In some embodiments of the angular impact wrench, the wrench is a removable component suitable for connection to a standard air hammer. In other embodiments, the angular impact wrench of the present invention is an integral unit that is directly connectable to a power source, such as a source of compressed air.

  • Patent number: 6256855
Abstract: A hinge pin remover comprised of a pair of plier members, each having a jaw portion and a handle portion, wherein the plier members are pivotally connected. A circular indentation is formed in each of the jaw portions of the plier members that is configured to fit around the shaft of a hinge pin. An edge is formed in the circular indentations which can be interposed between the bottom of the head of the hinge pin and the top surface of a flange forming a channel for the hinge pin. Pivoting the jaw members together results in the edges being interposed between the hinge pin head and the flange. Subsequently, an upward force can be exerted against the hinge pin remover to remove the hinge pin. Further, a bevelled surface is formed adjacent the edges of the indentation so that the bevelled surface can be interposed between the head of the hinge pin and the flange which results in the bevelled surface exerting an outward force against the hinge pin to remove the hinge pin from the channel.

  • Patent number: 6250187
Abstract: A screwdriver includes a handle in which a chamber and a recess are respectively defined in two ends of the handle. An annular flange with a passage extends radially inward from an inside of the handle. A block and a spring are received in the chamber, and an impact rod with a spring mounted thereto is received in the recess. A tube extends from the handle and a shank is movably received in the tube so that on end of the shank contacts the impact rod and the other end of the shank contacts a bit engaged with a distal end of the tube. The block is pushed to compress the spring when the bit is pushed onto an object. When the impact rod drop into the dent, the block hit the impact rod and the bit exerts a sudden and large force to the object.

  • Patent number: 6240699
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for anchoring tensioning members in a concrete structure and the like wherein there is provided a wedge support member having wedge-receiving pockets coaxially aligned with the anchor seats in an anchorage block permitting the anchorage wedges to first be inserted into the pockets not allowing the tensioning members to slip during tensioning. This method is used in post-tensioning of monostrand cable. The apparatus anchors the tensioning members by installing wedges into their respective wedge seats. A magnetic tip is utilized to hold the wedges in place while a slide hammer provides and transmits the energy to forcibly insert the wedges.

Abstract: A nozzle removal assembly including an outlet nozzle for centrifuge rotors and cooperating hand tool. The nozzle has an improved structure for facilitating the installation within and removal from a rotor wall. The centrifuge nozzle includes a body portion having inlet and outlet ends wherein the outlet end includes a placement channel. The placement channel defines a radially inwardly facing engagement surface supported externally to the rotor wall for engagement with a hand tool. The hand tool is adapted for engaging the radially inwardly facing engagement surface of the placement channel wherein both rotational and axial forces may be applied to assist in the removal of the nozzle from the rotor wall.

Abstract: A socket wrench has a body with a handle, and a head with a hollow cavity. A ratchet mechanism is received in the cavity and has a drive shank for connection with a socket. The ratchet mechanism is pivotally connected to the head in order to allow the head to pivot relative to the ratchet mechanism in an arc along a limited path of travel. The pivotal connection between the head and the ratchet mechanism enables an impact force to be presented to the socket when desired. Optionally, a releasable lock member is provided to prevent relative movement of the head and the ratchet mechanism so that the socket wrench can be used in a manner similar to a conventional ratchet wrench.

  • Patent number: 5526722
Abstract: An impact tool for removing bolts includes axially aligned impact section, torque section and shaft. The shaft is configured to extend through a socket to abut a bolt head when the socket is in operative communication with the bolt head. The shaft is additionally configured such that a torque applied to the shaft is transferred to the socket. The shaft defines a shaft face that abuts the bolt head. The impact section defines an impact face on the opposite end of the tool from the shaft face. The torque section is configured such that a torque applied thereto is transferred to the shaft. Accordingly, a blow to the impact face transfers an axial force to the bolt at the interface between the bolt head and the shaft face. Such axial force may tend to break a corrosive bond between the threads of the bolt and the receiving surface. Thus, axial blows to the tool in combination with torque applied to the torque section may tend to loosen and remove frozen bolts.
